Video: Questions Straight Men Have For Gay Men

I have been curious my entire life. I ask everyone questions every day. I love finding out new things and understanding.

So, I completely “got” the idea of this video from Buzzfeed that paired gay men with straight men and set up the situation that the straight guys could ask anything they wanted about being gay.

Sample questions like, “How much porn did you watch that was straight porn before you switched to gay porn?” and “What if you’re both bottoms or both tops? Is that a deal breaker?”

I love natural curiosity.

And, of course, there’s the companion video, “Questions Gay Men Have For Straight Men.” (You know where that’s going, now, don’t you?”

President Obama Announces Modest Set Of Executive Orders Addressing Gun Violence

President Obama held a press conference today announcing a modest set of executive orders that will close certain loopholes for gun buyers, and boost spending for ATF agents to enforce already existing gun laws.

The president had this to say at the presser:

“And although it is my strong belief that for us to get our complete arm around the problem Congress needs to act, what I asked my team to do is to see what more we could do to strengthen our enforcement” to curb illegal gun sales, Obama said in brief remarks to reporters after the meeting. “And the good news is, is that these are not only recommendations that are well within my legal authority and the executive branch, but they’re also ones that the overwhelming majority of the American people, including gun owners, support and believe in.”

Here’s a simple breakdown of what Obama is doing. You can read a full list of detail here.

1. Keep guns out of the wrong hands through background checks.
Currently, some gun sellers get around having to do background checks by selling online or at gun shows. The executive orders will ensure that If you’re in the business of selling firearms, you must get a license and conduct background checks.

Additionally, the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) is finalizing a rule to require background checks for violent criminals trying to buy some of the most dangerous weapons and other items through a trust, corporation, or other legal entity. Closing this loophole will help folks from dodging a background check. (That doesn’t sound like a bad thing, now, does it?)

2. Make our communities safer from gun violence.
The President’s FY2017 budget will include funding for 200 new ATF agents and investigators to help enforce our gun laws that are currently on the books.
ATF is finalizing a rule to ensure that dealers who ship firearms notify law enforcement if their guns are lost or stolen in transit. (Gee, that makes good sense, doesn’t it?)

3. Increase mental health treatment and reporting to the background check system.
The Department of Health and Human Services is finalizing a rule to remove unnecessary legal barriers preventing States from reporting relevant information about people prohibited from possessing a gun for specific mental health reasons.

4. Shape the future of gun safety technology.
The President has directed the Departments of Defense, Justice, and Homeland Security to conduct or sponsor research into gun safety technology. If we can create a child-proof aspirin bottle, surely we can come up with a gun that kids can’t accidentally kill themselves with.

Now, to hear Republicans scream, you’d think the president just ordered the National Guard to go round up law-abiding citizens guns.

From the New York Times:

On “Fox News Sunday,” former Gov. Jeb Bush of Florida said Mr. Obama’s “first impulse is always to take rights away from law-abiding citizens.” Donald Trump told CBS’s “Face the Nation,” “I don’t like anything having to do with changing our Second Amendment.” Gov. Chris Christie of New Jersey, also on “Fox News Sunday,” dismissed the orders as “illegal” and called Mr. Obama, among other things, a “petulant child,” a “king” and a “dictator.”

That could not be further from the truth. The reason for the wailing is not about these executive orders. The gun nuts mostly don’t even know what’s being proposed. And the ones who do are acting out because they say “it’s a  slippery slope” and that any rational set of common sense actions will lead to the government taking guns away from law-abiding gun owners, WHICH has never been proposed.

Before anyone goes and whines about the 2nd Amendment being trampled on, go read the actual executive orders. Nothing here but closing loopholes and spending more money enforcing what’s already on the books.

Ted Cruz Goes Passive-Aggressive Against Marco Rubio In New Campaign Ad

Sen. Ted Cruz has a new campaign ad up that takes a passive swipe at fellow GOP White House hopeful Sen. Marco Rubio over immigration.

“I understand that when the mainstream media covers immigration, it doesn’t often see it as an economic issue. But I can tell you it is a very personal, economic issue.

And I will say the politics of it would be very, very different if a bunch of lawyers or bankers were crossing the Rio Grande. Or if a bunch of people with journalism degrees were coming over and driving down the wages in the press. Then we would see stories about the economic calamity that is befalling our nation.

“If I’m elected president, we will triple the border patrol; we will build a wall that works; we will secure the border.”

Points for the dark, ominous cloud coming over “the border.”

It’s notable that Cruz continues to take a “hands off” approach to Donald Trump, hoping that Trump stumbles and Cruz can snatch up his supporters by claiming he never attacked their guy.

Oregon: Anti-Government Terrorists Soon To Lose Power

The federal government is taking a “go slow” approach to the armed militia in Oregon who have taken over a federal building in the Malheur National Wildlife Refuge.

According to sources, the plan at this point is to shut off the power to the building in the near future.

From Talking Points Memo:

“It’s in the middle of nowhere,” the unnamed government official told The Guardian. “And it’s flat-ass cold up there.”

The source told the Guardian that they didn’t have any information about the FBI’s plan of action, but said the National Park Service (called the US Park Service by The Guardian) planned to cut the outpost’s power.

The Malheur National Wildlife Refuge is under the jurisdiction of the Fish and Wildlife Service. A statement on the Malheur webpage says the refuge is closed until further notice. The National Park Service’s role was not immediately clear.

“After they shut off the power, they’ll kill the phone service,” the official told The Guardian. “Then they’ll block all the roads so that all those guys have a long, lonely winter to think about what they’ve done.”

Domestic Terrorists In Oregon Need Snacks

Of course, the Twitterverse enjoyed this one:

I should add that I’m munching on Ritz crackers and swiss cheese as I write this. Should I send some to the terrorists?

Matt Bomer Shows Off His Abs Via Wet T-Shirt On Cover Of Men’s Fitness

Hot off of his turn on American Horror Story: Hotel plus his Golden Globe-winning turn last year in HBO’s The Normal Heart plus that little movie called Magic Mike XXL, Matt Bomer starts the year right on the cover of Men’s Fitness.

And why not? Shouldn’t we all be thinking about fitness as we look to shed those holiday pounds? (Damn you, buttermilk pie!)

Bomer talks on (of all things) his fondness for guns, Lady Gaga (“one of the most intelligent people I’ve ever known”) and more in the interview for the fitness mag.

18 Year-Old Ethan “Affluenza” Couch Racked Up $2,100 In Mexican Strip Club Tabs

So, before “affluenza” boy Ethan Couch was apprehended in Mexico for skipping out of the country which violated his probation for killing four people while driving drunk, it seems the young Mr. Couch racked up a healthy $2,100 bill in Puerto Vallarta strip clubs.

You’ll recall Couch caused outrage a couple of years ago when he was on trial for the drunk driving escapade that not only killed four but seriously injured others. A defense witness during the trial testified that the 16 year old wasn’t to blame for the crime because he suffered from “affluenza” – a made up term meaning his wealthy parents spoiled him.

On the lam in Mexico, the now 18 year old was dragged back to his hotel where strip club managers demanded to be paid for his exorbitant bill.

From Raw Story:

Couch visited Prestige and Harem, two gentleman’s clubs in Puerto Vallarta, and ran up large tabs at both.

Strip clubs in Mexico allow patrons to run up tabs they must settle before leaving, unlike in the U.S. — where patrons generally pay for drinks and lap dances as they go.

“It is our policy to escort the man back to his hotel or to an ATM machine to get our money if they don’t have it with them,” Eduardo Dudinez, manager of Harem, told the Daily Mail.

Dudinez said none of his employees remember seeing Couch at Harem, but he also said the club’s top managers forbid employees from speaking to reporters about their clients.

However, a manager at the rival Prestige club told the Daily Mail that he saw Harem employees walk Couch past his club on their way back to the teen’s hotel.

“He had drunk a lot,” the manager said. “He could hardly walk.”

The Prestige manager claims he saw Couch’s receipt from Harem, and he said the teen spent more than $2,100 at that club.

Couch’s mother has already been deported to the U.S. where she faces up to 10 years for helping her son avoid jail time.

Ethan is currently jailed in Guadalajara, where he is attempting to thwart efforts to have him sent back to the U.S. for questioning about a video that shows him playing beer pong. If found to be true, it would be a violation of his probation and he could be incarcerated for up to 120 days.

President Obama Will Announce New Gun Control Measures Via Executive Order This Week

President Obama and the White House have announced that the president will unveil new gun control measures via executive order in the next few days.,

Obama, who has expressed deep frustration about U.S. gun control regulations after a series of mass shootings at schools and other places during his presidency, met with U.S. Attorney General Loretta Lynch on Monday to discuss gun control measures that do not require congressional approval.

Obama acknowledged that his planned initiatives will not solve every violent crime or prevent every mass shooting, but he said they could “potentially save lives.”

The president explained that he had received a report about his options on executive action, and the recommendations are “well within” his legal authority. He added that he is “confident” the recommended actions are “entirely consistent” with the Second Amendment right to bear arms.

Stocks for gun companies rose sharply ahead of Obama’s announcement.
