Joe Santagato: People Of Walmart

OK, so I have to post both parts 1 & 2 of Joe Santagato’s “People of Walmart” videos.

Let’s face it, we’ve all thought these things. But accompanied by Joe’s “Queens, NY” perspective makes it all that much funnier.

One of my favorite vloggers on YouTube, I love just about everything Joe posts. His thoughts on the folks you find at America’s biggest retailer are hysterical.

You can find more of Joe here on The Randy Report.

White House Spokesman Enjoys “Irony” Of Donald Trump/Ted Cruz “Birther” Kerfuffle

White House Press Secretary Josh Earnest was asked about the current Donald Trump/Ted Cruz kerfuffle about Cruz’s “eligibility” to be elected president given he was born in Canada.

For the record – yes, Sen. Cruz is a natural-born American since his mother was an American.

Earnest gets a bit of a smile here as he comments on the possible irony of the situation given the years of ridiculous questions about President Obama’s birth certificate.

Says Earnest, “It would be quite ironic if after 7 or 8 years of drama around the president’s birth certificate if Republican primary voters were to choose Senator Cruz as their nominee. Somebody who actually wasn’t born in the United States and only 15 months ago renounced his Canadian citizenship.”

On another note – Mr. Earnest is quite the good looking guy, no?  🙂

Ann Coulter Goes ‘Birther’ On Ted Cruz

It looks like right-wing loon Ann Coulter went “full birther” today when she took to Twitter to question whether Sen. Ted Cruz is eligible to run for president due to his being born in Canada.

This is a big u-turn for Coulter who as recently as 2013 said that Cruz was, in fact, a “natural born” citizen of the United States, and thus eligible.

In 2009, she called the ‘birther’ movement an “embarrassment” to the Republican party.

State Supreme Court Chief Justice Roy Moore Attempts To Halt Marriage Equality In Alabama

Virulently anti-gay Alabama Supreme Court Chief Justice Roy Moore issued an order today saying that, although the U.S. Supreme Court ruled same-sex marriage was a constitutional right last June, probate judges in Alabama are to stop issuing marriage licenses to same sex couples.

Moore asserts that his state Supreme Court’s ruling from March of 2015 is still in effect upholding the state’s ban on marriage equality.

(Wrong.)

From AL.com:

Chief Justice Roy Moore issued an order today saying that a ruling issued last March by the Alabama Supreme Court remains in effect and that probate judges “have a ministerial duty not to issue any marriage license contrary” to Alabama’s law and constitutional amendment banning same-sex marriage.

In a four-page administrative order, Moore said the conflict between the state court ruling and the U.S. Supreme Court ruling in June has caused “confusion and uncertainty” among probate judges.

Moore said he issued the order today in his role as administrative head of the state court system. He quoted a state law that says the chief justice is empowered to “take affirmative and appropriate action to correct or alleviate any condition or situation adversely affecting the administration of justice within the state.”

Moore’s order drew forceful criticism.

Scott McCoy, senior staff attorney for the Southern Poverty Law Center, issued a statement calling Moore’s order a “dead letter.”

“In no way does his administrative order supersede Judge Granade’s federal injunction prohibiting probate judges from enforcing discriminatory Alabama marriage laws.

“If probate judges violate the injunction, they can be held in contempt. This is Moore yet again confusing his role as chief justice with his personal anti-LGBT agenda.”

Americans United for Separation of Church and State called Moore’s order a “pathetic gesture that is doomed to fail.”

“I have a news flash for Roy Moore: The U.S. Supreme Court upheld marriage equality in June and the decision extends nationwide,” said the Rev. Barry W. Lynn, executive director of Americans United. “All Alabama probate judges remain bound by a federal court order to issue marriage licenses to same-sex couples.”

Oregon Militia Nutjobs Have A Mascot: TarpMan

Now, I seriously hope nothing violent happens up in Oregon where the militia nutjobs are holed up in a federal building daring the government to address the situation.

But, you knew this chapter was going to have it’s super-nuts, and we have our first one, and he’s Lavoy Finicum AKA “TarpMan.”

He says he’s sitting under this tarp with a shotgun ready to shoot any federal agents who might aim a gun at him.

I don’t know why but I keep thinking, “Shh – be vewy, vewy quiet. I’m hunting wabbits.”

Of course, Twitter loves this.

New Dating App Has Been Dubbed “The Mean Girls” Of Hookup Apps

A new dating app will REQUIRE invitation to join the group, and you better be worth it.

I can see the comments now: “You may think you’re Neiman Marcus, but you’re really more Target. Ta-ta!”

Via press release:

Hanky wants to eliminate the trolls: in order to join Hanky you need an invite code from a friend and validate your phone number, or sign up with your Facebook account. If you do not have an invite code at least three current members will have to vote you in.

Legitimate users of traditional apps are being subjected to internet ridicule by trolls (often using fake identities), who send abusive messages or who post screenshots of private conversations on Twitter.

Jonas Cronfeld, cofounder of Hanky says: “We will probably never have 5 million members like some of these other apps because so many get turned away. But we’ll choose quality over quantity any day. Sure, big numbers are nice, but none of our competitors have got the actual experience right something we will never compromise on. Our users are nicer and more sexy.”

The developer says the methodology will keep out “creeps, time-wasters and fake profiles” present on similar apps.

You’ve got to wonder – who has these “invite codes” and how are the recipients chosen?

And when I say “wonder” I mean truly in the rhetorical sense cause I’m not looking since I have hunky husband Michael here at home.

Cronfeld says that 8 out of 10 applicants are rejected with the hope to get more “more sexy” users.
