Donald Trump Makes A “Huge” Announcement

Jimmy Kimmel Live! shares this HUGE announcement from Donald Trump.

Regular readers know I’ve actually speculated on this very scenario.

From Raw Story:

“Nine months ago, I announced my candidacy for president,” says a pretty good Trump impersonator, in a voice-over. “The journey has been an unbelievably interesting one — and fascinating. But, it’s also been a real wakeup call.”

As video plays of violence at Trump rallies, he continues: “Our country is totally divided. There’s so much hatred — so, that’s what I made my campaign about! I said the craziest things I could think of.”

“April Fools, America!” declares ‘Trump. “I’m not really running for president. It was a joke! You’re so stupid, it’s mind-boggling. It really is. Now go vote for my friend Hillary Clinton, and Make America Great Again. I can’t believe you bought these crappy hats.”

Short Film: “MUM”

I’ve written about my short attention span many times here on The Randy Report. As such, I have developed a fondness for short films and web series that take you on a journey in a minimal amount of time.

Today I came across a beautiful short film, MUM, which I found not only impactful but beautiful.

Written, directed and edited by Alex Bohs, the story is told in flashbacks interspersed with moments from William’s daily life – sitting at home, working as a house painter, swimming at his local pool.

The story explores the fallout of a recent incident in the life of William, the details and impact of which are not clear until end.

I’m not the only one who liked MUM – the film found it’s way across the U.S. and around the world:

Official Selection for:

NFFTY 2014 (Seattle, Washington)
8th Annual Rainier Independent Film Festival (Ashord, Washington)
2014 North Carolina Gay & Lesbian Film Festival (Durham, North Carolina)
2014 Reel Q: Pittsburgh International LGBT Festival (Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania)
Frameline38: San Francisco International LGBT Film Festival (San Francisco, California)
2014 ImageOut: The Rochester LGBT Film & Video Festival (Rochester, New York)
2014 BFI Flare: London LGBT Film Festival (London, United Kingdom)
2014 Inside Out: Toronto LGBT Film Festival (Toronto, Canada)
2014 Taiwan International Queer Film Festival (Taipei, Taiwan)

2015 Melbourne Queer Film Festival (Melbourne, Australia)
2015 Reelout Queer Film + Video Festival (Ontario, Canada)
2015 Roze Filmdagen: Amsterdam Gay & Lesbian Film Festival

Not only is the imagery striking, but the use of music and sound play very important roles in the story-telling.

Congrats to Alex Bohs and his creative team for touching and thoughtful storytelling.

Take a few minutes and watch MUM.

Gay Couple Attacked In Miami Beach Burger King

A casual kiss between two men at a Burger King in Miami Beach upset a customer so much he verbally attacked the men and then slammed one of them to the ground, beating him for over a minute.

From WSVN News in Miami:

A fight involving two people at a Miami Beach fast food restaurant may have been fueled by hate, said police. According to officials, two men were inside a Burger King Whopper Bar on Miami Beach when suddenly an attacker slammed one of them to the ground.

Police said the victim followed the attackers onto Washington Avenue, but the suspects got away. “Once we have the subjects in custody, and we present the case to the state attorney,” said Rodriguez, “we can determine at that point if they will add the hate crime element to this case, which would heighten the penalties.”

The couple has since returned home to California. The police department said an attack, especially one which may be based on sexual orientation, has no place on Miami Beach. “We want a clear message that we want any visitor, any resident here on Miami Beach, or I mean, Dade County for that matter as a whole, everyone is welcomed here and there’s no place for hate,” said Rodriguez.

Mississippi: Anti-LGBT Law Heads To Governor’s Desk

Mississippi Gov. Phil Bryant

Mississippi’s anti-LGBT “Religious Objections” bill is on it’s way to the governor’s desk to be signed into law.

From WAPT News:

The Mississippi House on Friday passed a final version of a bill that allows government employees and private business people to cite religious beliefs to refuse licenses or other services for same-sex couples who want to marry. House Bill 1523 is now headed to Gov. Phil Bryant, who is expected to sign it into law.

The bill also says the state cannot punish businesses that refuse to sell goods or services to same-sex couples or religious groups that refuse to let gay or lesbian people be foster or adoptive parents.

The ACLU of Mississippi is against the bill.

“This bill allows freedom of religion to cover prejudice and to justify discrimination. Freedom of religion is one of our most fundamental rights as Americans, but that freedom does not give any of us the right to harm or mistreat others,” the ALCU said earlier this week in a written statement.

The law makes LGBT Mississippians second-class citizens who will now be open to discriminatory business practices.

County clerks can refuse to issue marriage licenses. Religious organizations, upon learning an employee is gay, will be able to legally fire the employee.

Anyone will be able to claim a “sincerely held religious belief,” and then throw gays, lesbians and transgenders out of their business.

Shameful.

“53X” – The new show from the producers of Chippendales celebrated a packed house last night at  its official opening night at Paris Las Vegas

53X leverages Chippendale’s “sexpertise” in delivering high-energy, sexy entertainment.

By the way, the title of the show  – 53X – comes from how “the kids” text the word “sex” to each other. That part had to be explained to me, but I’m guessing won’t be lost on younger folks?

The show’s dynamic cast, a provocative ensemble of men and women, dance, tease and please throughout the production’s many fantasy numbers.

Shangela, well-known to fans of  RuPaul’s Drag Race, rules the stage as the evening’s hostess setting the audience at ease through her sassy humor and engaging personality.

53X is the creative vision of artistic director, Bryan Cheatham, the man behind the recent revamp of the award-winning Chippendales show at the Rio All-Suite Hotel & Casino.

“This is the perfect show to bring a date, or find one,” says Cheatham. “You can be a voyeur or a participant – either way, everyone gets exactly what they came for!”

Performances are Wednesday through Sunday at 9 pm.
Tickets start at $29.95 for General Admission with VIP packages available at $49.95 + taxes and fees.

Mississippi’s Same-Sex Adoption Ban Struck Down

U.S. District Judge Daniel Jordan has struck down Mississippi’s same-sex adoption ban.

From the ruling:

Obergefell held that bans on gay marriage violate the due-process and equal-protection clauses. It is the equal-protection component of the opinion that is relevant in the present dispute over Mississippi’s ban on gay adoptions.

In sum, the majority opinion foreclosed litigation over laws interfering with the right to marry and “rights and responsibilities intertwined with marriage.”

It also seems highly unlikely that the same court that held a state cannot ban gay marriage because it would deny benefits—expressly including the right to adopt—would then conclude that married gay couples can be denied that very same benefit.

The Executive Director of DHS is hereby preliminarily enjoined from enforcing Mississippi Code section 93-17-3(5).

Poll: Clinton And Trump Leading Ahead Of New York Primaries

Former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump look to have big leads in the upcoming New York State Democratic and Republican primaries on April 17.

According to a new Quinnipiac University poll released today, Clinton leads Sen. Bernie Sanders of Vermont 54% – 42%. There are 247 delegates up for grabs in the Democratic primary.

On the GOP side, Trump leads among Republicans with 56%, followed by Sen. Ted Cruz of Texas at 20% and Ohio Gov. John Kasich with 19%.

In a hypothetical head-to-head race, the new survey shows Clinton would beat Trump for New York state’s electoral votes in a general election by 20 points – 53% – 33%.
