Last night, Rosie O'Donnell joined us for a VERY special #DisasterRelief performance with her own Donald J. Trump version of "There Are Worse Things I Could Do" from Grease! #PrepareForDisasterPosted by Disaster – On Broadway on Friday, April 8, 2016

For those who aren’t aware, after each performance of the new parody musical DISASTER, the cast is having guest stars come up on stage and perform to help raise money for Broadway Cares (my favorite charity which helps countless men and women with HIV/AIDS) as a “bonus” to the DISASTER experience.

Rosie O’s lyrics (penned by herself and Seth Rudetsky) are pretty clever.

HBO Documentary NOTHING LEFT UNSAID

I will be watching this. Not for the tabloid, “watching the wealthy” aspect but for the introspective look into what the lives of those we “think” have everything might really be like.

From HBO:

Born into one of the wealthiest and best-known families in American history, Gloria Vanderbilt has lived in the public eye for more than 90 years, unapologetically pursuing love, family and career, while experiencing extreme tragedy and tremendous success side by side. Directed by Liz Garbus, the poignant and revealing feature-length documentary Nothing Left Unsaid: Gloria Vanderbilt & Anderson Cooper features a series of candid conversations as Vanderbilt and her youngest son, Anderson Cooper, look back at her remarkable life.

Intertwining archival footage and previously unseen home videos spanning eight decades with present-day scenes, the film paints an intimate portrait of one of America’s most fascinating families. Cooper and Vanderbilt tell the story of their past and present, losses and loves, and show how, in life, patterns repeat themselves in the most unexpected ways.

Drawing on Gloria Vanderbilt’s private archive of letters, home movies, photos and artwork created by her over the years, as well as vintage news footage and newspaper clippings, Nothing Left Unsaid is a journey through a life like no other. Son Anderson Cooper explains, “She’s got this public face, but the reality of her life is so different.”

Nothing Left Unsaid: Gloria Vanderbilt and Anderson Cooper premieres Saturday, April 9, only on HBO.

This Teen-Aged Lesbian Has No Time For Shade

Maggie Glenn, a Twitter power-user, shared a text argument she had with her Aunt Marie, who had called her a “faggot” and followed that up with a statement that upsetting Maggie wasn’t her intention.

Maggie’s comeback was pretty much a “scorched earth” approach. The tweet has been retweeted 39K times, and has 58K Likes.

President Obama Opens American Idol Finale With Call To Vote

After 15 years of voting for their favorite singers, viewers of American Idol were asked by President Obama to take that same passion for participation to the ballot box this fall by registering to vote.

Acknowledging how AI “transformed television,” Obama reminded the TV audience that the show – over 15 seasons – “reached new heights.” And while admitting “not all of us can sing like Kelly Clarkson,” when we vote “all our voices matter.”

Out Films: “DADDY” Now Available For Streaming & Download

Award-winning actor Gerald McCullouch directs/stars in DADDY

I’m excited to share that the award-winning film DADDY is now available on iTunes, Video On Demand, and most cable systems – plus, if you’re in Los Angeles April 8th you can see the movie on the big screen at Arena Cinema Hollywood.

Making his directorial debut, Gerald McCullouch (the BEAR CITY trilogy, CBS’s “CSI”) stars alongside DADDY screenwriter Dan Via, with Smash’s Jaime Cepero, Tamlyn Tomita, Tony Award winner John Rubenstein, Jay Jackson and Mackenzie Astin.

McCullouch was named Best Actor at the 2015 California Independent Film Festival, where DADDY made its U.S. debut, and was honored as one of the 100 most compelling people by OUT.

The film was lauded by critics like The Film Reel, which wrote, “It’s hard to say that the film is anything but wonderful… very powerful and filled with emotion.”

Progressive Pulse calls the movie “an impressive directorial debut” with “beautiful performances.”

The flick is based on Via’s stage play which had a critically acclaimed world premiere in New York City, followed by subsequent success in a Los Angeles run.

I saw the play in LA and found the artistry of the writing and the performances compelling and provacative. The story doesn’t exactly take you where you think you’re headed, and that’s all I’ll say about that. I was happily surprised at the issues explored – best friends, boy friends, family relations – and how skillfully they were interwoven without being heavy handed.

The film premiered at the Montreal World Film Festival in fall 2015, where Progressive Pulse raved DADDY features “wonderful and beautiful performances.” DADDY went on to win awards at the California Independent Film Festival and Atlanta’s Out on Film International LGBT Film Festival.

New Poll: 7 In 10 Americans View Donald Trump Unfavorably

The latest AP/GfK poll shows 70% of Americans have an unfavorable view of current Republican front-runner Donald Trump.

Trump’s unfavorables cut across just about every swath of the U.S. electorate – race, age, gender, political affiliation.

From the AP:

Seven in 10 people, including close to half of Republican voters, have an unfavorable view of Trump, according to a new Associated Press-GfK poll. It’s an opinion shared by majorities of men and women; young and old; conservatives, moderates and liberals; and whites, Hispanics and blacks — a devastatingly broad indictment of the billionaire businessman.

Even in the South, a region where Trump has won GOP primaries decisively, close to 70 percent view him unfavorably. And among whites without a college education, one of Trump’s most loyal voting blocs, 55 percent have a negative opinion.

Trump still leads the Republican field in delegates and has built a loyal following with a steady share of the Republican primary electorate. But the breadth of his unpopularity raises significant questions about how he could stitch together enough support in the general election to win the White House.
