Erik McCombs Cavanaugh is DANCING!
Here’s a prediction not based on politics: Justin Timberlake’s new single – “Can’t Stop The Feeling” – is certain to hit it big this summer on the radio.
With smooth vocals, pop-y syncopated rhythms, and a chorus that tells you to “dance, dance, dance,” it’s a sure bet the song (from the soundtrack of Timberlake’s upcoming movie, Trolls) will be everywhere.
The 9-time Grammy Award winner throws in some of his signature falsetto, along with groovy bass beat, which gives the track some Michael Jackson-infused funk.
Love it.
NBC News is out with their first electoral college projection map for the 2016 presidential race, and it shows Donald Trump and the Republicans begin with a much steeper, uphill climb than Hillary Clinton and the Democrats.
From NBC News:
That map gives Clinton and the Democrats a 253-190 edge in electoral votes, with 95 in the tossup column.
And here’s why Dems have the advantage: They surpass the 270 electoral votes needed to win the presidency by just winning one of Florida or Ohio.
Or a combination of Colorado and Virginia.
One other thing: Our Tossup designations are very conservative; it’s where we think things *could* be later this summer. But right now, there are more polls showing Clinton ahead in these states than ones with Trump leading.
The Washington Post posits a similar situation, albeit from a different angle.
Were Hillary to win the 19 states (and D.C.) that every Dem has won since 1992, she gets to 242 electoral votes. If she wins Florida’s 29 electoral votes – Boom! She reaches 271 and the presidency. Clinton currently leads Trump by 13 in Florida according to a recent poll.
Additionally, Hillary currently leads in the ten most likely “swing” states.
However you slice it, the Trumpster begins with a tough map to overcome.
For the record, here’s how states have gone in the last six presidential elections (click to enlarge).
Tony Award-winners Kristin Chenoweth and Idina Menzel sing “For Good” together for the first time in 12 years.
The ladies got together to duet once again for a Second Stage Theatre’s gala honoring Wicked producer David Stone on Monday.
The two created their iconic roles of “Glinda” and “Elphaba” (respectively) in the original cast of Wicked, which recently crossed over $1 billion in box office for the Broadway company alone, and over $4 billion worldwide.
Years later, the connection between the two is just as magical.
Should I mention that Taco Salads aren’t even on the menu at Trump Tower Grill?

| Speaker of the House Tim Moore |
The Charlotte Observer is reporting that state lawmakers plan to defy the recent notice from the U.S. Department of Justice that the state’s anti-LGBT “bathroom law” – HB2 – violates the U.S. Civil Rights Act:
House Speaker Tim Moore said Thursday that legislators won’t meet the U.S. Department of Justice’s Monday deadline to repeal or stop enforcing House Bill 2.
The department sent state leaders a letter Wednesday saying that the law violates the U.S. Civil Rights Act and Title IX – a finding that could jeopardize billions in federal education funding. Those laws ban discrimination in education based on sex and employment discrimination.
“We will take no action by Monday,” Moore told reporters Thursday. “That deadline will come and go. We don’t ever want to lose any money, but we’re not going to get bullied by the Obama administration to take action prior to Monday’s date. That’s not how this works.”
Moore said state leaders are still trying to determine their next steps. “Right now we’re talking with our attorneys to see what our options are,” he said. “We’re going to move at the speed that we’re going to move at to look at what our options are.”
White House press secretary Josh Earnest distanced Obama from the order in his press briefing Thursday afternoon. “These kinds of enforcement actions are made independent of any sort of political interference or direction from the White House,” Earnest said. “Those are decisions that are made entirely by attorneys at the Department of Justice.

T-Rex (danced by the fab Michael Macilwee) is back in the dance studio, and this time killing it with “Music and the Mirror” from A CHORUS LINE.
Knowing the steps intimately, I’m screaming here! Watch for the double turns at the end. Bravo!

Oh yeah, Hillary Clinton was ready for this day. The day Donald Trump actually became the Republican nominee for president.
This ad practically wrote itself.
Using language straight out of not only The Donald’s mouth, but his primary season opponents, Mitt Romney calls Trump a misogynist, Marco Rubio claims he’s the most “vulgar person to ever aspire to the presidency,” and Jeb Bush says Trump needs therapy.
Just put this on repeat for the next six month.
“President Trump” is a dangerous proposition.Mitt Romney, Ted Cruz, and Marco Rubio agree.https://t.co/fUkISvgaXC
