George Clooney: “Steve Bannon Is A Failed F***ing Screenwriter”

George Clooney, speaking to reporters at the Toronto International Film Festival to promote his new film Suburbicon, went off on former White House chief strategist Steve Bannon.

Via EW:

“Steve Bannon is a failed f—ing screenwriter, and if you’ve ever read [his] screenplay, it’s unbelievable. Now, if he’d somehow managed miraculously to get that thing produced, he’d still be in Hollywood, still making movies and licking my ass to get me to do one of his stupid-ass screenplays.”

“You know, they say I’m out of touch. You want to call me a Hollywood liberal? Come at me. I sold ladies shoes, I sold insurance door to door, I worked at an all-night liquor store, I cut tobacco for a living. I can change the fan belt on my car. I grew up in that world in Kentucky. I know every bit of that world, and I know my friends and what they believe. And I know this is not a moment in our history that we’ll look back and be proud of. So if I’m not standing on the side I believe to be right, I’d be ashamed.”

Eric Chase, Son Of Former Fox News Host Eric Bolling, Dead At 19

Eric Bolling (L) and Eric Chase (R)

Reporter Yashar Ali shared via Twitter today that Eric Chase, son of former Fox News host Eric Bolling, died last night.

Chase, Bolling’s only child, was only 19 years old. No official cause of death has been announced although Mediaite cites a source who says Chase died of suicide.

TMZ is also reporting the suicide.

“Very sad news, Eric Bolling’s son, who was only 19, died last night,” said Ali. “By all accounts, Eric was incredibly devoted to his son. Heartbreaking.”

You May recall Ali was the journalist who reported on Bolling’s sexual harassment charges which led to his dismissal at Fox News just yesterday.

Out Music: Sam Smith “Too Good At Goodbyes”

Sam Smith drops his first new song in two years - "Too Good At Goodbyes"

“Too Good At Goodbyes” is out singer/songwriter Sam Smith’s newest release since his Academy Award winning James Bond theme, “Writing’s On The Wall.”

“The song is about a relationship I was in and it’s basically about getting good at getting dumped,” Smith said in a press release. “It’s been a long while since I’ve put any music out and I feel that this first single sets the tone of what is to come.”

Variety reviews the track:

For the first minute of the song, Smith’s voice is joined only by the sparsest and most basic piano chords, along with some finger-snapping. Eventually a light beat kicks in, then a gospel choir, as if to almost mock Smith’s romantic lamentation by raising it to the level of spiritual battle. Those extra production elements drop out as easily as they drop in, though, until it’s finally just piano and fingers again, then a sobby, a cappella closing line.

Maybe you’d also like a majestic bridge that never arrives; that may be the missing element that leaves “Goodbyes” shy of being a pop classic. But Smith’s magical, tragical voice is its own kind of classicism, melting you with its vulnerability even as he tries some swagger on for size as part of his exit strategy.

Over Half Of Gay Men In UK Afraid To Hold Hands In Public

Holding hands with hubby Michael at a concert

A new study conducted by Stonewall asked 5,000 members of the LGBTQ community in Britain about hate crimes and discrimination.

The results may, or may not, surprise you:

• 38% of all respondents reported being afraid to hold their partner’s hand; that number jumped to 58% among gay men

• 21% have experienced a hate crime or incident due to their sexual orientation and/or gender identity in the last 12 months

• 81% who experienced a hate crime or incident didn’t report it to the police

• 41% have experienced a hate crime or incident because of their gender identity in the last 12 months and one in six LGB people, who aren’t trans (16 per cent), have experienced a hate crime or incident due to their sexual orientation in the same period

• 10% have experienced homophobic, biphobic or transphobic abuse online directed towards them personally in the last month

A few years ago, a straight friend of mine was surprised when I casually mentioned I rarely hold hubby Michael’s hand in public. We just didn’t feel that safe.

That anxiety slowly crept into our private life, and I’m now aware that we almost never hold hands at all. Societal pressures basically beat it out of us.

The above pic is from a Brad Paisley concert we attended a few years ago. It’s one of the few times I recall holding hands in public.

Eric Bolling Out At Fox News

Far-right conservative blowhard Eric Bolling is out at Fox News.

HuffPost has the details:

Fox News has parted ways with host Eric Bolling, the network confirmed Friday, just over a month after an exclusive HuffPost report revealed Bolling sent inappropriate text messages to current and former female colleagues.

News of the departure comes after two HuffPost reports revealed a pattern of inappropriate behavior by Bolling, who co-hosts “Fox News Specialists.” Fox News will cancel the program, it said in a statement.

“Eric Bolling and Fox have agreed to part ways amicably,” the network said. “We thank Eric for his ten years of service to our loyal viewers and wish him the best of luck.”

HuffPost’s report, which was based on 14 sources, revealed that at least three current and former Fox colleagues said they had received inappropriate text messages from Bolling, including photos of male genitalia.

You may recall that Bolling filed notice that he intended to sue the reporter, Yashar Ali, who initially broke the story. Bolling had threatened a $50 million lawsuit.

New Music: Kelly Clarkson “Love So Soft”

Kelly Clarkson, the original American Idol winner, shows she’s still pop music royalty with her latest music video for “Love So Soft.”

The trippy, psychedelic video serves up a vibrantly dressed Clarkson – ball gowns and sharp suits – pictured in calming meadows and fields, along with kaleidoscopic backup dancers. It’s a sensual, luscious landscape for Clarkson’s powerful, take-no-prisoners vocal.

Clarkson also released the slower, moodier “Move You,” which you can listen to here.

Speaking to EW, Clarkson described her upcoming album, Meaning of Life, as “a modern take on that ’90s urban R&B pop.”

Meaning of Life is due October 27.

Rush Limbaugh Claims Hurricane Irma A Climate Hoax, Then Flees Florida

Earlier this week, far-right radio blowhard Rush Limbaugh told his listeners that Hurricane Irma was part of a huge “liberal media” climate change hoax and that Irma would not make landfall in the U.S.

Yesterday he announced he would not be doing his show, broadcast from South Florida because he would be busy evacuating the state.

Via ThinkProgress:

“So there is a desire to advance this climate change agenda, and hurricanes are one of the fastest and best ways to do it. You can accomplish a lot just by creating fear and panic. You don’t need a hurricane to hit anywhere,” Limbaugh said on his show Tuesday. “All you need is to create the fear and panic accompanied by talk that climate change is causing hurricanes to become more frequent and bigger and more dangerous, and you create the panic, and it’s mission accomplished, agenda advanced.”

But on the show Thursday, Limbaugh said he would be off the air for the next few days.

“May as well… announce this. I’m not going to get into details because of the security nature of things, but it turns out that we will not be able to do the program here tomorrow,” Limbaugh said Thursday. “We’ll be on the air next week, folks, from parts unknown.”

Limbaugh said the show will be back on the air Monday, but to be on the air Friday would be “legally impossible” for them do to the show out of South Florida.

Listen to him admit he’s evacuating below:

Bannon: No Cabinet Position For Christie Due To Lack Of Support Over “Grab’em By The Pussy” Video

In his 60 Minutes interview with Charlie Rose last night, former White House strategist Steve Bannon admits NJ Gov. Chris Christie was taken out of contention for a cabinet post for not standing by Donald Trump when the now infamous “Grab ’em by the pussy” video surfaced.

“Christie, because of Billy Bush weekend, was not looked at for a cabinet position,” Bannon said in an interview on CBS’s “60 Minutes” that aired Thursday. “I told him the plane leaves at 11-o-clock in the morning. If you make the plane, you make the team. He didn’t make the plane.”
