Robert Pattinson tries to move on from scandal with some country music

People Magazine is reporting that Robert Pattinson has come out of hiding and appears to be trying to lighten his mood with some buddies and country music.

With some buddies in tow, Pattinson headed over to the Deer Lodge, a country music locals bar near Ojai, CA.

“Pattinson came in with a few friends, like three guys. There was a big party here already and they came in to hang out with the party,” a source tells PEOPLE of the group’s second outing. “There were two girls that were hanging around him, but not Rob necessarily. He seemed happy, fine.”

Warmed by a couple of drinks, “He was laughing and smiling most of the time, but he was low key,” the source adds. “He didn’t really get up. No dancing or anything. He was totally nice and polite.”

Pattinson was apparently taken by surprise by the admission of girl friend Kristen Stewart admitting she cheated on Pattinson with her Snow White and the Huntsman director Rupert Sanders.

Olympic Inspiration: Oscar Pistorius of South Africa

South African Olympic sprinter Oscar “Blade Runner” Pistorius has been one of the most inspiring stories of this Olympics.

Born without fibulas (commonly known as the calf bone), both his legs were amputated below the knee when he was still an infant.

At the age of 17 and with just a few months of training, he won a gold medal at 200 meters in the 2004 Paralympic Games in Athens, also adding silvers in the 400 meters and 100 meters.

Pistorius ran in the men’s 400-meter race in London over the weekend, making history as the first double amputee to compete in the Olympic games.

Although he did not medal, he did make it clear how successful his journey to the Olympics and competing among the other athletes made him feel.

After the race, fellow competitor Kirani James of Grenada turned to Pistorius, hugged him, and then asked to exchange name bibs, a poignant gesture of respect.

Pistorius had come in at 46.54 seconds, .95 of a second behind James, the winner. James said of Pistorius, “He’s very special to our sport. He’s a great individual – it’s time we see him like that and not anything else.”

Pistorius called James a “phenomenal competitor” and said that trading the name bibs was “what the Olympic spirit is all about.”

New poll shows gay men spend more on self-improvement

Community Marketing has conducted a poll of over 45,000 LGBT consumers and here are some of the results:

  • 77 percent of gay men plan to vote for Barack Obama, and many are actively involved in financial and volunteer support.
  • 91 percent of gay men own “smartphones,” up 23 percent from 2011. The most popular smartphone is iPhone (with Android phones quickly gaining ground).
  • Straight men drink 3 times more beer than gay men, but gay men drink 50 percent more spirits/cocktails than straight men.
  • 49 percent of gay men under age 30 have a gym membership.
In addition, gay men spend much more than the national average when it comes to things like vitamins, gym memberships, spa treatments and paid educational classes.

Today is National Marriage Equality Day – go get some Starbucks!

National Marriage Equality Day is meant to counter the record setting sales on August 1 which was promoted by anti-gay groups as Chick-fil-A Appreciation Day.

Starbucks announced its support of a marriage equality law in its home state of Washington earlier this year. The National Organization for Marriage launched a Starbucks boycott, only for LGBT people and allies to come out in droves to thank the Washington-based coffee chain for its support.

Kirsten Ott Palladino, editor of Equally Wed, and her wife organized the latest display of appreciation for Starbucks. It has now expanded to support several pro-gay companies including J.C. Penney, Nike, and Ben & Jerry’s.

The things that happen at the Olympics…

A lot is being made of our US Rowing team getting a Bronze medal at these Olympics.

But even more is being made out of this picture in which one of the rowers is apparently “more excited” than most Olympians get when being presented with their medal.

However, U.S. Olympic rower Henrik Rummel says he doesn’t have an erection in the pic. He has gone on Reddit to say that he’s not “excited” – that’s just who he is.

“This is me and I swear it’s not erect! I don’t know why it ended up in that position but there you go.”

Tim McGraw & Faith Hill to headline in Las Vegas

Tim McGraw and Faith Hill will open their own superstar run in Las Vegas at the Venetian Hotel and Casino this winter.

The show will be called “Soul 2 Soul” and  tickets will go on sale August 13th at 8am.  Tickets will start at $95.50 and go up to $250.

At this point, there will be ten weekends of shows – 4 shows per weekend.

Word is the show will open around December 7-8  and the show will be a brand new, “built from the ground up” production.

At the announcement Tim McGraw said “This is all about us together.”

Also, commenting on the past trend of stars “retiring” to Las Vegas, Tim said “It’s not the same Vegas.  You can come here at the peak of your career.”

I’ll definitely be seeing the fab couple.  I’m a big fan of both and love how they handle their careers with class, dignity and talent.

Jake Gyllenhaal on the cover of DETAILS Magazine

Wow – how handsome does Jake Gyllenhaal look on the cover of DETAILS Magazine? Loving the full beard!

Jake takes things very seriously in the interview getting down to the issues of not only his work but his appreciation of his costars and how they all mesh together.

From the DETAILS interview:

Gyllenhaal’s way of keeping it fresh can befuddle costars on occasion. The far more common result, however, becomes clear in watching his catalog. For over a decade, actors have been doing some of their best work opposite him—Mark Ruffalo, Jennifer Aniston, Tobey Maguire, Heath Ledger.

“It’s no accident. Jake takes it all very seriously but also has a very light touch,” explains Anne Hathaway, his costar in Love and Other Drugs and Brokeback Mountain. “On Brokeback, my final scene was on the phone with Heath, who was in Venice for Casanova. Jake offered to read Heath’s lines. On the last take, he changed the line, ever so slightly. That kicked off something in me, and lo and behold, that’s the take in the film.”

“I grew up on the other side of the camera,” Gyllenhaal says. “And yes, I do love making movies as much as being in them. I love actors, watching what they do, and I do love acting off-camera, and how it helps tell the story. But the camera eventually does turn to you, and then it’s a very different question. I don’t know if I have the answer to it yet.”
