Sen. Rand Paul “thinking” about 2016 Presidential run

Sen. Rand Paul has confirmed rumors that he is considering running for president:

“We’ve been thinking about it,” Paul said in a phone interview. “And we will continue to think about it probably until after the 2014 elections. I haven’t made a decision, it’s a big decision you know with regard to family and the extensive travel that’s involved with it. And then also just seeing where the country is going in the next year or two.”

According to a new Public Policy Polling (PPP) survey, Paul leads the pack of potential 2016 GOP candidates in both Iowa and New Hampshire:

18 percent for Sen. Rand Paul
16 percent for Gov. Chris Christie’s 16 percent
15 percent for former Vice Presidential candidate Rep. Paul Ryan
14 percent for Jeb Bush
11 percent for Sen. Marco Rubio
10 percent for Sen. Ted Cruz
6 percent for Rick Santorum

‘Sharknado’ draws twice the Twitter action than ‘Game of Thrones’ Wedding

I am LOVING the whole Twitterverse getting in on the Sharknado fun.

From the Hollywood Reporter:

There were more than 604,000 tweets about the irresistibly Sharknado from 8 p.m. to 3 a.m ET on Thursday, according to social media analytics firm Fizziology. The Syfy film, which starred Tara Reid, Ian Ziering and Casie Scerbo, premiered at 9 p.m. ET/PT.

Putting that figure in context, HBO’s widely discussed Game of Thrones “Red Wedding” episode drew 241,000 tweets in response to the show, Fizziology said.

Twitter also contextualized the outsized response to the sharks-meet-tornados B-movie, produced by Asylum. The micro-blogging platform’s official Data account posted a chart showing a peak of more than 5,000 tweets a minute were referencing Sharknado at 10:58 pm ET.

Poll: 55% of Virginians support marriage equality

Just seven years after Virginia passed a constitutional amendment prohibiting same sex marriage in the state, polls show public opinion on the issue following national trends:

A new poll released by the Human Rights Campaign, a leading LGBT advocacy group, found 55 percent of Virginians polled supported same sex marriage. Researchers also found 71 percent of respondents under the age of 30 support gay marriage.

The bipartisan poll was done by Greenberg Quinlan Rosner Research and Target Point Consulting from June 26-30, 2013.

Support for same-sex marriage varied in different parts of Virginia, the poll found.

68 percent in Northern Virginia support same-sex marriage
53 percent in Central Virginia support same-sex marriage
51 percent in Eastern Virginia support same-sex marriage

“There is no question we’re making movement when it comes to fairness and equality across the country,” Human Rights Campaign president Chad Griffin said.

Corey Feldman has a new song & Video – “Ascension Millenium”

THE Corey Feldman apparently has a new song and music video that’s been deemed “Buzzworthy” on MTV.

I won’t hate on it – the only word I can find that seems appropriate is ‘fascinating.’ Take that as you will.

From the YouTube description –

Join Corey as he takes you on a musical journey through his “Feldmansion” in this Day in the Life Adventure.

Flanked by 2 of “Corey’s Angels” he dances and sings his way through scenes featuring his pal Sean Astin from “The Goonies” to a MJ style dance sequence, and eventually to his recording studio which shakes and crumbles to become a concert Stadium where he performs.

Ascension Millennium (the brand new single from Coreys upcoming solo album) premiered on MTV on July 1st 2013 and within hrs had reached the coveted “Buzzworthy” status. Within its 1st week exclusively on MTV it gained 250,000 views world wide.

Now ITS YOURS! Welcome to the Dawn…..and ASCEND!

Harvey Fierstein: “Get loud against Putin and his anti-gay pogrom”

From Harvey Fierstein’s Facebook page –

It’s time to start paying attention to what’s going on in Russia in case you haven’t yet. Putin has declared war on the gay community.

He’s made it illegal to promote homosexuality in theater, film, tv, print that in any way could be seen by youth. In other words anything gay is now pornography.

He’s outlawed the adopting of Russian children to any country that has legalized marriage equality.

And now it is reported that his next law will remove the children of GLBT families from their homes. This will apply to biological children as well as formerly adopted ones.

This is a horror. Not only for our community but even for straight families. Already divorced parents are threatening one another with blackmail to tell authorities that their ex is now gay just to control parental rights.

Putin wants this attack against human rights to be his legacy. He believes he can get the backing of the Vatican as well as all other conservative religious leaders to join his cause.

What can we do? Make his actions and his plans public. Shine the light of public opinion on this evil doer.
Boycott the Winter Olympics in Russia. Believe me, Putin will use the Olympics as proof that the world backs up his action. There are only two ways to deal with a tyrant: Starve out the rat, or destroy him.

So, my friends, do your research and then GET LOUD AGAINST PUTIN AND HIS ANTI-GAY POGROM. This is a very small world. Our brothers and sisters in Russia need us NOW!

With a straight face, Pat Robertson denies he is anti-gay

From Right Wing Watch we get the news that Pat Robertson is disturbed that people, for whatever reason, might believe that he is somehow anti-gay.

After all, how could blaming gays for 9/11, warning that gay rights will destroy America, using anti-gay slurs, linking homosexuality to pedophilia and disease and saying that Facebook should create a ‘vomit’ button specifically for pictures of gay couples POSSIBLY make someone seem anti-gay?

Well, following a story on the Exodus International head Alan Chambers’ decision to shut down the ex-gay ministry, Robertson insisted that “we are not anti-gay.”
