Rep.-Elect Adelita Grijalva Finally Sworn In Today

Rep. Adelita Grijalva of Arizona was finally sworn into office today

UPDATE: Immediately after she was sworn in today, Rep. Adelita Grijalva (D-Ariz.) became the 218th and final signature on a discharge petition for a bill to release files related to Jeffrey Epstein forcing action on the matter.

She joined all House Democrats and four Republicans: Rep. Thomas Massie (R-Ky.), Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.), Rep. Lauren Boebert (R-Colo.), and Rep. Nancy Mace (R-S.C.).

Senate Passes Bill To Reopen Govt, Now Heads To The House

The U.S. Senate has approved a stopgap spending bill that will end the longest government shutdown in American history once the measure is passed in the House of Representatives.

• Wired: Apple has removed two of the most popular gay dating apps in China  – Finka and Blued – from the App Store after receiving an order from China’s main internet regulator and censorship authority.

• Broadway World: Tony/Emmy Award winner Kristin Chenoweth has returned to Broadway in The Queen of Versailles, now at the St. James Theatre. The new musical also stars Oscar winner F. Murray Abraham and is directed by Tony winner Michael Arden with music and lyrics by Oscar winner Stephen Schwartz. BW has a round-up of the reviews which were very mixed.

• LGBTQ Nation: Four people are dead and more than a dozen injured after a car crashed into the outdoor seating area in front of an LGBTQ nightclub in Tampa, Florida during last Saturday’s early morning hours. • New York Times: In a 60-to-40 vote on Sunday night, the Senate cleared the way for a spending deal to end the government shutdown. A group of Democrats broke their party’s blockade to vote with Republicans.
