GOP Congressman: Trump & Repubs ‘Getting Retweets And Raising Money’ Off Of Election Scam

REp. Adam Kinzinger (R-IL) called out Donald Trump and certain Republicans for pushing 'election scam'
Rep. Adam Kinzinger (R-IL)
Illinois Republican Rep. Adam Kinzinger called the ongoing efforts by Donald Trump and certain House Republicans to overturn the election of President-elect Joe Biden a “scam” today on CNN. From Politico:

Kinzinger, speaking Sunday morning on CNN’s “State of the Union,” said: “The reality is there is no impetus to overthrow an election,” and added that even if there were reasons to do so, there is not a constitutional mechanism to overturn a presidential election after states have formally certified their results.

He went on to say that Trump and certain members of Congress are “getting retweets, they’re getting followers and they’re raising money on this scam.”

“It is a scam and it is going to disappoint the people that believe this election was stolen, that think this is an opportunity to change it,” he added.

President-elect Joe Biden won the presidential election with 306 electoral votes to Trump’s 232 votes.

Donald Trump Continues Whining As Americans Face Losing Unemployment Benefits

Donald Trump plays golf and complains on Twitter as unemployment benefits for 14 million Americans expire today While approximately 14 million Americans are facing the expiration of their unemployment benefits today, Donald Trump is maintaining a full schedule of golf and griping about his failed reelection attempt. Trump surprised Congress by denouncing the recent COVID relief bill which was considered a done deal after being hammered out between House and Senate leaders alongside Trump’s own Treasury Secretary, Steve Mnuchin. After the passage of the stimulus package, which would extend unemployment benefits for those affected by the pandemic, Donald Trump threw a grenade into the negotiations demanding $2,000 payments to eligible Americans. Democrats say they are down for the increased checks, but Republicans have said that figure is dead on arrival in the Senate. Trump also wants legal protections for tech companies (like Twitter which has regularly tagged his tweets as ‘disinformation’) to be terminated so they can be sued. CBS News reported that the coronavirus relief and government spending bill was being flown to Florida Thursday evening for the president to sign — or veto — should he choose to do so. Amid his post-Christmas Twitter rant, Trump blamed Republicans for not fighting to overturn the results of the presidential election, as well as the “Justice” department and the FBI. The Donald also attacked the Supreme Court for refusing to take a look at “absolute proof” of “massive election fraud” that allegedly took place. Meanwhile, dozens of Team Trump lawsuits have failed in courts across the nation. Many of those challenges were ruled against by Republican-appointed judges, and even Trump appointees.

Charlie Kirk’s Dismal Math Skills Ridiculed On Twitter

Charlie Kirk can’t math (image via Instagram)
Conservative pundit Charlie Kirk began trending on Twitter this morning after it was discovered that math poses special challenges for the young Mr. Kirk. Kirk, who runs the far-right student group Turning Point USA (which attracts a lot of support from white nationalists), apparently thought he could prove that Donald Trump’s baseless voter fraud allegations are true. Kirk tweeted the vote totals and number of counties won by Barack Obama, Donald Trump, and most recently, President-elect Joe Biden. Barack Obama:  – 69,000,000 votes, 873 counties Donald Trump: 75,000,000, 2,497 counties Joe Biden: 81,000,000 votes, 477 counties He followed those stats with the statement “And we’re not allowed to question his ‘victory.'” As most people know, conservative/Republican presidential candidates tend to do well in rural areas (i.e. counties with not a lot of people) and Democratic candidates see much of their support in urban areas (big cities where there are a LOT of people in a relatively small area). I’m guessing Kirk was stumped by the fact that Donald Trump might have won many more counties than Joe Biden but didn’t win the election. For instance, here in my state of Nevada, Trump handily won Esmeralda county with a vote total of 400 votes to Biden’s 74. Yep, those were the total votes cast for those candidates. Meanwhile, Biden won Clark country with 521,852 votes over Trump’s 430,930 votes – a difference of over 90,000 votes. See how that works, Charlie? At the end of the race, if you get the most votes in a state, you win that state’s electoral college votes. County lines don’t factor in how votes are counted. Twitter had a field day about population density and the fact that land can’t vote.

Trump Lawyer Files Lawsuit ‘Under Plenty Of Perjury’

Lin Wood (image: public domain/White House)
With a crack legal team like this, it really is hard to believe Donald Trump’s lawyers have lost dozens and dozens and dozens of times in their attempts to rewrite the presidential election. #SarcasmIntended Attorney L. Lin Wood, who continues to keep the legal community in a stitch with his typos and misstatements, filed a pro se lawsuit in Georgia federal court on Friday with what we all hope is a typo. Prior to his signature on the last page of the filing is the following verification section: “Pursuant to 28 U.S.C. §1746, I declare and verify under plenty of perjury that the facts contained in the foregoing Verified Complaint for Declaratory and Injunctive Relief are true and correct.” Bolding is mine. The language is Wood’s.

Advisers Concerned As Trump Considers Acting On Conspiracy Theories

According to a report by the New York Times, high-level Trump advisers are becoming concerned that Donald Trump has begun giving serious consideration to acting on wild conspiracy theories regarding his failed reelection bid. At a White House meeting on Friday, Trump reportedly discussed making Sidney Powell a special counsel investigating voter fraud, according to two people briefed on the discussion. You’ll recall Powell worked on behalf of Trump’s campaign team pushing a series of conspiracy theories about a Venezuelan plot to rig voting machines in the United States and more. Senior advisers, including Rudy Giuliani and White House counsel, Pat A. Cipollone, were not keen on the ideas being presented. Powell found herself being pushed out of Trump’s legal team recently after she floated wild claims about Dominion Voting Systems machines, which were used in some states, somehow being connected to a Venezuelan plot to control the election. Also in the mix is former national security adviser Michael Flynn’s wild talk of Trump invoking martial law and ordering the military to “rerun” the election. And then there’s Giuliani’s scheme to have the Department of Homeland Security seize possession of voting machines as part of a push to overturn the results of the election. But Giuliani was informed Homeland Security does not have the authority to do such a thing. Read more at the NY Times. Axios reporter Jonathan Swan says that after years of covering the Trump administration, he “can’t recall hearing more intense concern from senior officials who are actually Trump people.”

Trump Supporting Baby Gay Malfunctioning, Needs To Be Returned

Christian Walker says he not a "gay conservative." He's just "conservative."

Comedian Kathy Griffin clapped back at little Christian Walker, son of former NFL player Herschel Walker, for his rather deranged rant on Twitter telling people to chill because “this isn’t over yet” and the Donald will somehow continue to be president after Congress meets on January 6. Walker, who’s biggest claim to fame is apparently having been a ‘Spirit of Texas Royalty’ cheerleader (???), seems to find some consolation that a handful of states that Joe Biden flipped to blue have some crazed loons who ‘elected’ their own slate of Trump-supporting electors. Said loons hope that Congress might count their electoral votes instead of the official electors, or at least muddy the waters for Congress.

Here’s the official deal – Section 4 of the Electoral Count Act of 1887 dictates that the votes counted and certified during the meeting of the Electoral College stand. They cannot be changed between now and January 6. IF there are two sets of electors, both houses of Congress decide separately which is the legal ‘will of the people’ slate of electors. If the (GOP-controlled) Senate and the (Democratic-controlled) House cannot agree, “the votes of the electors whose appointment has been certified by the executive of the State, under the seal thereof, shall be counted.” Those would be the electors who have been signed off by the governor of each state. Those electors total 306 for Joe Biden. Done. After the young gay’s misguided remarks, Griffin intoned fellow gay icons Bette Midler, Lady Gaga, and Beyoncé wondering, “Ladies, how could we let this happen? HOW?”

Trump Threatens To Not Leave White House On Inauguration Day

With the Electoral College affirming the results of the 2020 presidential election this week, followed by Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell recognizing President-elect Joe Biden as the winner, one might think Donald Trump would begin to accept the reality that his time in the White House is coming to an end. But…no. From CNN:

Yet even amid the intractable movement of the transition and the hurried lame-duck activity — some of which he is participating in himself — Trump is steadfastly refusing to acknowledge that he lost.

In his moments of deepest denial, Trump has told some advisers that he will refuse to leave the White House on Inauguration Day, only to be walked down from that ledge. The possibility has alarmed some aides, but few believe Trump will actually follow through.

“He’s throwing a f***ing temper tantrum,” an adviser said. “He’s going to leave. He’s just lashing out.”

The White House declined to comment for this report.

Trump Rages On Twitter ‘Fox News Is Dead!’

With basically no options to exploit further in regard to his failed reelection campaign, Donald Trump is now raging at his former media ally, Fox News Channel. “Can’t believe how badly @FoxNews is doing in the ratings,” wrote the Trumpster on Twitter. “They played right into the hands of the Radical Left Democrats, & now are floating in limboland. Hiring fired @donnabraziIe, and far worse, allowing endless negative and unedited commercials. @FoxNews is dead. Really Sad!”

Mitch McConnell (Finally) Acknowledges Biden/Harris Win

Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (screen capture)
Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) on Tuesday finally acknowledged President-elect Joe Biden and Vice President-elect Kamala D. Harris on their White House win, one day after the electoral college affirmed the result in state capitals across the country. “As of this morning our country has officially a president-elect and a vice president-elect,” McConnell said Tuesday speaking on the Senate floor. “Many of us hoped that the presidential election would yield a different result, but our system of government has processes to determine who will be sworn in January 20.” “The electoral college has spoken. So today I want to congratulate President-elect Joe Biden.” “I also want to congratulate the vice president-elect, our colleague from California, Senator Harris,” added McConnell. “Beyond our differences, all Americans can take pride that our nation has a female vice president-elect for the very first time.” While Republicans are slowly nodding ‘Yes, there will be a new president in January,’ Donald Trump continues to deny the outcome. Early Tuesday, he tweeted, “This Fake Election can no longer stand.”
