Beto O’Rourke, currently a candidate for governor in Texas, confronted Gov. Greg Abbott during a press conference today regarding the deadly school shooting in Uvalde, Texas, that left 19 children and two adults dead.
“The time to try to stop the next shooting is right now,” said O’Rourke. “And you’re doing nothing. You’re all doing nothing. This is on you. This was totally predictable.”
O’Rourke was shouted down by Abbott’s minions: “You’re a sick son of a bitch to come to a deal like this and make a political issue.” And then the police escorted O’Rourke out of the auditorium.
Funny…whatever happened to free speech?
Texas has had eight mass shootings in the past 13 years. At the same time, Texas lawmakers have steadily loosened restrictions on carrying firearms. Texas Republican leaders promised action on gun safety after the El Paso shooting. Instead, they passed permitless carry.
“It’s on you.”
