AI On Creating Images That ‘Look Gay’ + Mike Ditka Dies At 86 + More

Some news items for you as we head into the weekend:

• DNA Magazine: Two of the most widely used AI image models will refuse to guess whether someone is gay from a photo, but happily edit that same face to “look gay” on request.

• NBC News: Mike Ditka, the legendary Chicago Bears coach who led the team to a Super Bowl XX victory, has died at the age of 86. Drafted by the Bears as a tight end in 1961, he went on to become Rookie of the Year.

• New York Times (gift link): Another ICE shooting has occurred – this time in New York City where a 28-year-old man was shot in his car with a five-year-old in the vehicle. Lots of updates at the link.

• PBS: Donald Trump announced he has struck a deal to obtain diesel from Russia, a stunning reversal of years of U.S. pressure on Moscow over its war with Ukraine. This comes after he signed a sweeping Russia sanctions law last month that aimed at clamping down on Russia’s energy revenues.

• MS NOW: The FBI plans to offer the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) an exclusive no-bid, 1-year contract to train its special agents in hand-to-hand combat. This is where I mention that UFC chief executive Dana White has long been an ally of the Trump administration, and FBI Director Kash Patel is a UFC fan.

• Axios: Katie Zacharia, a former Department of Homeland Security spokesperson, will be the next White House press secretary. Predictably, she has worked as a conservative commentator on Fox News, Newsmax, One America News, and other outlets.  She’s also been a senior communications advisor at Trump Media & Technology Group, which oversees Truth Social.
