‘Devil Wears Prada 2’ Surpasses Original Film’s Box Office + More

Happy Friday! Some news stories for you as we head into the weekend.

Deadline: The Meryl Streep/Anne Hathaway dramedy The Devil Wears Prada 2 will outstrip the original 2006 film’s global lifetime box office of $326.5 million today – just a week after the sequel’s release. Folks are projecting it could hit over $700 million worldwide by Sunday.

Page Six: There’s Broadway chatter that Lea Michele called out of CHESS this week after being snubbed by the Tony Awards nominations on Tuesday.

Labor Department: The U.S. economy added 115,000 jobs last month while the unemployment rate remained at 4.3%. February numbers were revised down by 23,000, and March was revised up by 7,000. With these revisions, employment in February and March combined is 16,000 lower than previously reported.

AP News: The redistricting wars continue to heat up — the Virginia Supreme Court struck down the state’s redistricting map, narrowly approved by voters last month, while Republicans in Alabama approved plans for new primary elections if courts allow GOP-drawn House districts to be used in the November midterm elections.

CBS News New York: ICE agents grabbed a New York teenager, tackled him to the ground, cuffed him, then realized they had the wrong guy.
