• AP News: Pop star Britney Spears was arrested last night for on DUI charges. after the California Highway Patrol stopped her around 9 p.m. for driving fast and erratically. Her spokesperson acknowledges it was “inexcusable” adding that Britney will get the “long overdue” help she needs.
• NPR: A January 6 rioter pardoned by Donald Trump, has been sentenced to life in prison for child sex abuse after a Florida jury found him guilty of 5 criminal charges, including molestation, lewd and lascivious exhibition and transmission of material harmful to a minor.

• Axios: Donald Trump says he needs to be personally involved in selecting Iran’s next leader. Acknowledging that the son of assassinated supreme leader Ali Khamenei is the most likely successor, Trump added he finds that outcome “unacceptable.”
• New Music: Jessie Ware drops the official video for her long-awaited single ‘Ride’, a striking, high-gloss visual featuring acclaimed actor James Norton set inside a dreamlike, Western world. The atmospheric track is built around a slow-burn, hypnotic groove that subtly loops Ennio Morricone’s “The Good, The Bad and The Ugly” theme. I like.
• New York Times: Senate Democrats have blocked for a third time a spending bill to reopen the Department of Homeland Security, insisting that they would not approve the measure without new curbs on immigration enforcement.
• Broadway World: The nominees for the 2026 Olivier Awards honoring the best in West End theatre have been announced. I’m very surprised Cynthia Erivo’s Dracula was snubbed completely. While the show itself divided opinion, Erivo was universally applauded for her performance, so an acting nod was expected.
