Megyn Kelly Twitter Rant: Jill Biden’s Doctorate Is ‘Fake Title’

Of all things to throw a Twitter tantrum over, conservative talking head Megyn Kelly got crunchy during Sunday’s NFC Championship game when the announcers mentioned First Lady Jill Biden was in attendance to cheer on the Philadelphia Eagles. When the cameras caught Biden in the stands, the announcers referred to her as Dr. Jill Biden. Note: A longtime educator, Biden received a Doctorate of Education (Ed.D) in educational leadership from the University of Delaware in 2007. Kelly took to Twitter to rant:

“Announcers for this Eagles-49ers game just spotted the First Lady in a box and of course call her ‘Dr. Jill Biden.’ Wonder if she realizes what a wannabe she looks like insisting on this fake title. Get a real MD or just work on your self-esteem.”

For instance, she’s referred to anti-abortion activist Alveda King as “Dr. Alveda King” on Twitter although King isn’t an MD. She received an honorary doctorate from Saint Anselm College and a Doctor of Philosophy in Applied Theology from Aidan University. And she’s fine with far-right political figure Sebastian Gorka being referred to as “Dr.” as he has a Ph.D in political science – not an MD. The Twitterverse had some thoughts…

Why is this important? All of my professors in college were referred to as “Dr.” No one had a problem with it.
