Some news items I thought worth your time:
• Gr8erDays: Matt Rettenmund shares his ‘once-in-a-lifetime’ experience attending the 50th anniversary reunion of the cast of the 1970s hit TV series Charlie’s Angels at PaleyFest (above) including Kate Jackson, Jaclyn Smith and Cheryl Ladd. I was a huuuuuuge fan of the show back in the day 🙂
• The Advocate: Pete Hegseth’s Pentagon has started kicking trans troops out of the military. After telling federal appeals judges no involuntary separations had happened, the Trump administration now says they’ve begun.
• Prime Video: The first ten episodes of Pageant Queens: Our Story Behind the Crown drop Monday, April 20. The docuseries follows ten drag pageant titleholders as they move into a South Florida mansion to prepare for the ultimate prize: the coveted title of “Queen of Drag” and a $50,000 cash award.
• The Advocate: Kentucky Gov. Andy Beshear will be honored Sunday in Washington, D.C., by the LGBTQ+ Victory Fund, receiving the group’s Allyship Award. A potential 2028 presidential contender, he’s a Democrat governing deep-red Kentucky who has repeatedly used his office to oppose legislation targeting LGBTQ+ people.
• Kenneth-in-the-212: This week’s round-up of the latest LGBTQ publications including The Fight, whose cover story wonders if identity labels (gay, straight, bisexual) define or confine us.
• HuffPost: House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA) attempted to defend Donald Trump’s attacks of Pope Leo XIV. Remember, Republicans would have you believe they are the ‘party of religion.’
• New York Times: Prosecutors in Minneapolis have charged an ICE agent with assault, accusing the agent of pointing a gun at motorists along a state highway during the immigration crackdown in the Twin Cities in February. It’s the first such case connected to the federal government’s 10-week operation in Minnesota.
