Erick Adame (via NY1) Erick Adame, an Emmy-nominated TV weatherman in New York City, says he was dismissed from his position at Spectrum News NY1 after someone sent his boss leaked webcam photos. Adame maintains the incident is the result of “revenge porn,” a term used to describe the nonconsensual sharing of sexual images. The TV veteran of 15 years is now suing Unit 4 Media Ltd. — the company behind LPSG (Large Penis Support Group), a video sex site where Adame participated in a chat. Adame wants a judge to force the company to identify the anonymous user that secretly screen captured naked images of the weatherman without his knowledge. The person then forwarded the images to NY1 (and Adame’s mother!). https://twitter.com/liamstack/status/1571958457770864640 “As a direct result of [the anonymous user’s] acts, [Adame’s] employment was terminated by his employer,” reads the petition filed in the New York. Adame’s lawyers note a New York state law, often referred to as “revenge porn legislation,” that allows legal action against those who disseminate naked images without the consent of the person in the photos. The attorneys representing Adame also point up that the website’s public policies prohibit users from sharing content that depicts people without their written consent. On Monday, Adame shared in a lengthy post his dismissal. “I have recently been terminated from my job as the meteorologist at Spectrum News NY1 in NYC,” Adame began. “I am taking this opportunity to share my truth rather than let others control the narrative of my life.” https://www.instagram.com/p/CisvOvMO_ME/?utm_source=ig_web_copy_link “Despite being a public figure and being on television in the biggest market in the country in front of millions of people five days a week for more than a decade and a half, I secretly appeared on an adult cam website,” Adame continued. “On this site, I acted out my compulsive behaviors, while at home, by performing on camera for other men. It was 100% consensual on both of our parts.”
“I Don’t Apologize For Being Openly Gay Or For Being Sex Positive”
“I wasn’t paid for this, and it was absurd of me to think I could keep this private,” he admitted. “Nonetheless, my employer found out and I was suspended and then terminated.” “As a public figure I recognize that I have certain responsibilities that come along with the privileges I enjoyed,” he wrote. “But, let me be clear about something: I don’t apologize for being openly gay or for being sex-positive — those are gifts and I have no shame about them.” Now looking for new employment, Adame implored News Directors to “judge me on the hundreds, thousands of hours of television that I am so proud of and that my employers have always commended me for, and not for the couple of minutes of salacious video that is probably going to soon define me in our click-bait culture.” The Daily Beast writes that a Spectrum News spokesperson declined to comment on the story. https://twitter.com/TheAdvocateMag/status/1572269364543381505
