Donald Trump has begun repeatedly attacking Democratic candidate for South Carolina’s Senate seat, Annie Andrews, with anti-transgender slurs.
“If name-calling would help lower gas prices and grocery prices, he can call me all the names he wants,” Andrews, who is not transgender, told reporters at a campaign stop on Tuesday. “But I don’t think that’s going to get the job done.”

Even former Republican Gov. David Beasley denounced Trump’s post as “abhorrent” on social media.
“Elections don’t have to be about cruelty and lies. South Carolina deserves better,” Beasley wrote on X Monday evening. A spokesperson for Graham’s campaign did not respond to a call requesting comment on Trump’s post.
This is abhorrent. Elections don’t have to be about cruelty and lies. South Carolina deserves better. I urge voters to look at the merits of each candidate and cast their vote accordingly. We must reject politics based on division and hate. While South Carolinians can strongly disagree with one another, we can do so civilly and with honest intentions for the betterment of our communities and well being of our families.

Trump just posted this video spot this morning circling back to the Trump messaging of “so-and-so is for ‘they/them'” language from 2024.
