Donald Trump is still attempting to overthrow the results of the 2020 presidential election. In a letter to Georgia’s top election official, Trump is asking – yet again – that the results be decertified and “the true winner” be announced. https://twitter.com/Newsweek/status/1438917013942980610 From Newsweek:
The former president sent the two Republican officials a report of what he claimed were 43,000 absentee ballots that violated chain of custody rules.
“I would respectfully request that your department check this and, if true, along with many other claims of voter fraud and voter irregularities, start the process of decertifying the 2020 Election, or whatever the correct legal remedy is, and announce the true winner,” the letter read.
As Newsweek notes, the Donald lost Georgia to Joe Biden by 11,779 votes out of the 5 million ballots cast. In addition to the original counting of votes, Georgia election officials conducted a statewide hand recount as well as a machine recount. At no point was there any evidence of widespread voter fraud found. Meanwhile, CNN reports that a criminal probe into Trump’s efforts to reverse the Peach State’s results is still moving forward. You may recall in January an audio recording of Trump calling Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger emerged urging him to “find” the more than 11,000 votes needed for Trump to win the state. https://twitter.com/SafetyPinDaily/status/1438841475090026500
