Donald Trump signed an executive order on Monday calling for a slimmed-down childhood vaccines schedule and breaking the measles-mumps-rubella vaccine into three separately administered shots.
The executive order also urges states to review federal vaccine recommendations and update requirements for public school students.

At the Oval Office signing event, Trump (when not dozing off) suggested the MMR vaccine could be “quite lethal.” When pressed, he admitted he had no evidence of lethality, only a vague “some people that say it is that way.”
He also declared that the amount of vaccines given to children equal the size of “a bottle of soda” and “vats of vaccine” are pumped into children’s bodies.
Trump: “At one year, you should have 5 separate visits for vaccines rather than getting them all in the same day. I’ve seen proof of where they have a vaccination thing that looks like the size of a bottle of soda and pour it into a little child’s body.” pic.twitter.com/vJhrpRFLvE

It’s worth noting the vast majority of scientists and public health experts say the benefits of vaccines far outweigh the risks, and while the shots do have rare side effects, no link to autism has been found.
