Republican Rep. Lauren Boebert of Colorado (above) has spent years telling America that LGBTQ people were “coming for children.”
Now, she is asking the country for prayers after her 21-year-old son was charged with 5 felony counts including sexual exploitation of a child.

According to Colorado Public Radio, the case against her son, Tyler Boebert, 21, began with a report about sexually explicit videos of teenagers posted to a newly created Instagram account in 2024. The case now involves 16 videos and images.
The five felony counts include sexual exploitation of a child with enticement, sexual exploitation with intent to “deal in, sell or distribute” sexually exploitative material, sexual exploitation involving video, and two counts of contributing to the delinquency of a minor.
The arrest affidavit says videos posted to the Instagram account showed Tyler Boebert, then 18, having sex with a girl who was 17, eleven months younger than him. He admitted to police he was the man in the video but claimed it was recorded without his knowledge.
The girl told investigators he made the video with her. Investigators identified an Instagram group chat with roughly 124 users that appeared to help spread one of the accounts.
Rep. Boebert has spent years accusing LGBTQ people of “grooming” children for sexual exploitation:
• In May 2022 she wrote, “We went from Reading Rainbow to Randy Rainbow in a few decades, but don’t dare say the Left is grooming our kids!”
• In July 2022, she accused Dr. Rachel Levine of “grooming” kids for supporting gender-affirming care.
• In August 2022, she posted a public library’s Drag Queen Story Hour ad and wrote: “Sending a message to all the drag queens out there: stay away from the children!”
“I love my son,” Boebert said in a statement on Monday. “We take these allegations very seriously and pray for everyone affected during this challenging time.”
