Donald Trump continued his war on transgender people today signing an executive order banning trans women and girls from competing in women’s sports.

“The war on women’s sports is over,” Mr. Trump declared at a White House event celebrating the mandate.
The order, titled “Keeping Men Out of Women’s Sports,” mandates that Title IX, the federal law banning sex discrimination in schools, be interpreted as prohibiting the participation of transgender girls and women in female sports.
Those not in compliance jeopardize any federal funding they receive, Mr. Trump said.
A White House official informed reporters that trans female athletes “can compete on co-ed or male teams.” NCAA President Charlie Baker said at a congressional hearing last year that there were less than 10 transgender athletes who currently compete out of more than 500,000 NCAA players. Anti-trans activists argue that transgender girls and women athletes have biological advantages that are unfair and unsafe for other girls and women. But the Canadian Center For Ethics In Sports published a scientific study last year which found trans women who have undergone testosterone suppression for a year have no clear biological advantages over cis women in elite sport.
Out of 510,000 NCAA athletes, less than 10 are transgender. They are literally writing an executive order to target less than a hundred people nationwide. Republicans spent over $110 million in anti-trans ads on a made up problem. [image or embed]
