Trailer: The First Blush Of Attraction ‘Young Hearts’

Making an impressive feature film debut, director Anthony Schatteman artfully captures that first blush of attraction with his acclaimed coming-of-age drama Young Hearts. The film stars Lou Goossens as ‘Elias’ and Marius De Saeger as ‘Alexander.’ The official synopsis reads:

Elias (14) feels attracted to his new neighbor Alexander (14). Soon he realizes that he’s truly in love for the first time. The interactions with his friends and family bring more questions than answers.

Confused and burgeoning feelings, Elias tries to sort out his inner chaos to prove that he is worth Alexander’s heart.

“I hope that people will see Young Hearts as just a romantic film,” director Schatteman says in a press statement. “I wanted to make the film I wish I had seen when I was young.” Critics have praised the film for its delicate and honest approach: • “A film whose queer positivity should be a balm to LGBTQ kids wrestling with their sexuality as well as parents struggling with acceptance.” – The Hollywood Reporter • “Anthony Schatteman, in his promising feature debut, perfectly captures the excitement, confusion and desire felt by post-adolescents struggling to come to terms with their sexual orientation in a world that still sees same-sex love as alien and taboo.” – The Contending Young Hearts will be released in select theaters March 14.
