Out actors Luke Evans (Beauty and the Beast) and Billy Porter (Pose) star in the upcoming custody battle drama Our Son. Reminiscent of Kramer vs. Kramer, the film chronicles the traumatic breakup of a 13-year marriage and the bitter dispute over who gets to be the primary parent to the couple’s 8-year-old child. The official synopsis reads:
Nicky (Luke Evans), a book publisher devoted to his work, lives with his husband Gabriel (Billy Porter), a former actor and stay-at-home dad, and their eight year-old son, Owen. Gabriel loves Owen more than anything; Nicky loves Gabriel more than anything.
Despite appearances, Gabriel has been dissatisfied with their marriage for some time and files for divorce, leading to a custody battle that forces both of them to confront the changing reality of their love for each other and for their son.
The drama, which recently premiered at the 2023 Tribeca Festival, also stars Andrew Rannells (A Simple Favor), Robin Weigert (Deadwood), Kate Burton (Grey’s Anatomy), and Phylicia Rashad (Creed III).
