This is…something.
Texas House Speaker Dade Phelan (R) had a ‘moment’ last night when he notably slurred his words during session.
Folks on Twitter initially assigned the cause to alcohol. But then others noted that it could have been a cognitive or neurological issue.
I’m not here to mock him, but it’s note-worthy that no one in the chamber stopped to check on him.
Take a look below. The last tweet below is from a former GOP Texas state rep.
This is video from last night in the Texas House of Representatives where it appears that TX House Speaker Dade Phelan is either really drunk or having a stroke. pic.twitter.com/dbSG7AO30r

Interestingly, nobody stopped and asked him if he was okay. The House just kept on debating a bill and Phelan kept on going until they adjourned.

You got to heavily sedate yourself when you sell your soul and Country out. Being a fraud has to be exhausting.

The fact no one seemed worried about his behavior says this must be a regular occurence.

Anyone who watches the #txlege House knows many of the members are regularly intoxicated.
Watching the Speaker be this wasted is absolutely unacceptable.
These Representatives are making laws that impact 30 million Texans. It must stop.pic.twitter.com/ETYH1sue9j
