President Explodes At “So-Called” Judge Who Blocked Travel Ban

Just hours after U.S. District Judge James L. Robart temporarily blocked the enforcement of President Trump’s immigration ban, the Donald took to Twitter (where else?) to complain about the “so-called” judge’s ruling.

Just two weeks into his presidency, and President Trump is openly questioning the legitimacy of the judiciary.

Not sure about the “so-called” part – Robart was nominated by President George W. Bush and confirmed in the Senate by a vote of 99-0. Hard to say Robart is being partisan with that pedigree.

Trump continued tweeting anyway:

I guess he hadn’t got all his temper tantrum out, so he started lashing out at any old enemy:

Still not done, President Babyhands resorted to campaign slogans:

Hillary Clinton: “I Stand With The People”

In a rare public statement since the presidential election, Hillary Clinton expressed her support for those opposed to President Trump’s ill-conceived executive order banning immigration from Muslim-majority nations.

“I stand with the people gathered across our country tonight defending our values & our Constitution. This is not who we are.”

Trump Shuts Down Interior Department Twitter After Unflattering Tweets

The Washington Post reporting that the Interior Department was told to shut down official Twitter accounts after a Park Service employee retweeted unflattering pics of the light crowds at Trump’s inaugural.

The first noted the new president’s relatively small inaugural crowd compared to the number of people former president Barack Obama drew to the National Mall when he was sworn into office in 2009. The second tweet noted several omissions of policy areas on the new White House website. A Park Service employee retweeted both missives on Friday.

“All bureaus and the department have been directed by incoming administration to shut down Twitter platforms immediately until further notice,” said an email circulated to Park Service employees Friday afternoon. The email, obtained by The Post, described the stand-down as an “urgent directive” and said social media managers must shut down the accounts “until further directed.”

Binyamin Appelbaum of the New York Times was one of the tweets comparing crowd sizes from Trump and Obama’s inaugurals:

Trump Spokesman: When Trump Tweets He Gets Results

Upon winning the presidency, President-elect Donald Trump said that he would probably pull back from his now infamous tweeting on social media.

But now, it’s a new year and a new perspective from the incoming administration.

Donald Trump spokesman Sean Spicer on ABC’s “This Week:”

“You know, with all due respect, I think it freaks the mainstream media out that he has this following of over 45 plus million people that follow him on social media, that he can have a direct conversation. He doesn’t have to have it funneled through the media.”

“’Business as usual’ is over. There’s a new sheriff in town, and he’s going to do things first and foremost for the American people.

“Absolutely you’re going to see Twitter. The fact of the matter is that when he tweets he gets results. So whether it’s Twitter, holding a news conference, picking up the phone, having a meeting, he is going to make sure that he continues to fight for the American people every single day.”

Donald Trump’s Christmas Tweet Gets Bigly Thumbs Down From Internet

The internet got quite a kick out of President-elect Donald Trump’s rather narcissistic Christmas tweet.

Most high-level elected officials share heartwarming images of family – children, grand-children, spouses, etc. But this year? No Melania, Don Jr., Eric; not even Ivanka made the cut.

The Trumpster decided to share a Photoshopped pic of his upraised (tiny) fist set against the backdrop of a Christmas tree. He didn’t even take the time to sit for the shot – he used a screen capture from a recent rally.

Not very warm and holiday-fuzzy, in my opinion.

It appears I’m not alone in my assessement:

Donald Trump Slaps Back At Bill Clinton

He just can’t help himself.

A comment by former President Bill Clinton to a small, local newspaper draws the Twitter ire of President-elect Trump.

Good lord.

Via The Daily Caller:

Donald Trump is firing back after Bill Clinton said he only knew how to appeal to “angry white men.” When the former president ran into the editor of the Bedford-Pound Ridge Record Review in Katonah, New York recently, he said that the president-elect “didn’t know much.” “One thing he does know is how to get angry, white men to vote for him,” Clinton said.

Seriously – who cares who called who? How about you put down the Blackberry, Mr. Trump, and go get an intelligence briefing?

Trump Goes On Twitter Rant Over Voting Recount

President-elect Donald Trump seems a bit unnerved by the announcement by Green Party presidential candidate Jill Stein that she will request audit/recounts of the voting in Wisconsin, Michigan and Pennsylvania.

Trump took to Twitter today in a long rant decrying the recount effort based on the recommendations of computer scientists who say there are some irregular patterns in those three states. The discrepancies seem to be based in counties which used only electronic voting.

Of course, you’ll recall Trump had a completely different tone about challenging results and voter fraud just weeks before the election.

Yesterday, the Clinton campaign tacitly announced it would participate, primarily to ensure the effort was fair to all sides. The Clinton team has stated it does not expect the results of the election to change due to the recount.

I personally think this is good thing. There are Americans who are still in disbelief about the outcome of the presidential election, and a recount (paid through donations, not tax dollars) could help folks accept the result more easily.

Team Trump To CNN: Why Do You Care About Trump Tweets?

Trump aide Kellyanne Conway, defending Donald Trump’s now infamous Twitter rants, asked CNN’s Chris Cuomo “Why do you care?”

From The Hill:

A top Donald Trump aide is dismissing questions about the president-elect’s tweeting, asking why a network news anchor would care. “Why take it up? Why take up SNL? No president does that. Why waste time? Why distract?” CNN’s Chris Cuomo asked Kellyanne Conway Monday morning. “Why do you care?” Conway replied in the contentious interview.

“Who’s to say he can’t do that? Make a comment – spend five minutes sending a tweet, making a comment,” Conway said on Monday. She then accused Cuomo of assigning “wrongdoing” and “malice” where it doesn’t exist. “I think we should all learn from the election that this doesn’t fly with the voters,” she added. Conway said CNN is “focusing on divisions” by bringing up Trump’s tweeting.

“This network and other people will always be focused on divisions. How about accepting the election results, Chris, and letting him form a government?” Trump over the weekend tweeted criticisms of “Saturday Night Live” and repeatedly called on the “Hamilton” cast to apologize to Mike Pence for comments targeted at the vice president-elect.

Trump Begins Twitter Rant Then U-Turns

It looks like someone let Donald Trump get a hold of his Twitter account for just a second again as he ranted about the protests going on across the nation over his “election.”

And shortly thereafter, Kellyanne Conway must have ripped it from his tiny hands as the following tweet reverted to “presidential Trump.”

We’re going to have to come up with names for “sane Trump” and “crazed Trump.”

Why Rural America Doesn’t Understand Urban America

The tweet above is just the beginning of a fascinating Twitter thread that has captured the attention of thousands.

Patrick Thornton shares in several tweets and responses his thoughts on why rural Americans find it difficult to understand the outrage over the Trump election.

I completely agree with his thoughts on how minds and views are expanded when folks travel outside their “bubble.”  And what happens when they don’t.

I’ve “storified” much of the thread below. I really encourage you to read it, and then check back for more at Patrick’s Twitter account. I think this is an enlightening conversation.
