Mike Huckabee Wishes He Could Have Pretended To Be Transgender To Shower With High School Girls

Former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee made a rather odd comment earlier this year at the 2015 National Religious Broadcasters Convention in Nashville, Tennessee, regarding transgender folks by saying he wished he could have pretended to be transgender in high school “when it came time to take showers in PE.”

“For those who do not think that we are under threat, simply recognize that the fact that we are now in city after city watching ordinances say that your seven-year-old daughter, if she goes into the restroom cannot be offended and you can’t be offended if she’s greeted there by a 42-year-old man who feels more like a woman than he does a man.”

Huckabee continued saying saying he wished someone told him in high school he “could have felt like a woman” and shower with the girls.

“Now I wish that someone told me that when I was in high school that I could have felt like a woman when it came time to take showers in PE,” said Huckabee. “I’m pretty sure that I would have found my feminine side and said, ‘Coach, I think I’d rather shower with the girls today.’ You’re laughing because it sounds so ridiculous doesn’t it?”

Why Caitlyn Jenner Chose Not To Spell Her Name With A “K”

Since the world met Caitlyn Jenner yesterday, one item of note was that Caitlyn spells her name with a “C” and not a “K” which would have fallen in line with the Kardashian tradition.

In new info made available from Jenner’s Vanity Fair interview, Jenner shares that it was considered but in the midst of finding a new name, she went for the road less travelled.

“It’s one of the hardest things in life — choosing your own name,” she said. “One way she attempted to come up with ideas was by watching the Miss America pageant.”

Other names in consideration were apparently Cathy and Heather, but Jenner’s assistant , Rhonda, came up with the name Caitlyn and it resonated.

Jenner’s first response was “I love that name, too!” but after thinking on the spelling, Jenner felt it was time to break in a new direction and not use the “K.”

And that is how Caitlyn Jenner came to be.

Shortly after the image went public Caitln tweeted this:

In the video below from Vanity Fair, Jenner says:

“The last few days in doing this shoot was about my life. And who I am as a person. It’s not about the fanfare, it’s not about people cheering in the stadium. It’s not about going down the street and everybody giving me ‘Thataboy, Bruce!’ Pat on the back, Ok? This about your life. Bruce always had to tell a lie. He was always living that lie. Every day he always had a secret from morning till night. Caitlyn doesn’t have any secrets. Soon as the Vanity Fair cover comes out, I’m free.”

Rick Santorum On Bruce Jenner: “If He Says He’s A Woman, He’s A Woman”

Speaking at South Carolina’s GOP convention today, former Sen. Rick Santorum surprises a bit on the topic of Bruce Jenner being transgender:

“If he says he’s a woman, then he’s a woman. My responsibility as a human being is to love and accept everybody. Not to criticize people for who they are.

“I can criticize, and I do, for what people do, for their behavior. But as far as for who they are, you have to respect everybody, and these are obviously complex issues for businesses, for society, and I think we have to look at it in a way that is compassionate and respectful of everybody.

“So these are tough issues. I haven’t got into the whole issue, and I don’t think the federal government should get into the whole issue of bathrooms. I think those are things that the business community and local agencies and organizations should deal with.”

Mother’s Day: Trans Son Shares How His Mother’s Unconditional Love Made A Difference

From Hallmark:

With Mother’s Day approaching, Hallmark embarked on a social experiment asking people to talk about their moms on camera and describe their feelings beyond the typical expressions of “I love you” and “thank you.” They found that by removing those go-to phrases, the emotion behind the love for their mothers was revealed and they were better prepared to put their heart to paper on Mother’s Day.

What they didn’t know was that their moms were watching from another room. The videos capture the heartwarming reactions the moms had to their children’s words.

Alex shares how his Mom’s unconditional love and acceptance made all the difference in this life. Watch what happens when he goes beyond “I love you” and decides to #PutYourHeartToPaper.
