First Promo Pic Of Caitlyn Jenner for E!’s I Am Cait

E! releases the first promo pic from the upcoming I Am Cait – an 8 part doc-series series starring Caitlyn Jenner.

The 65 year old former Olympian wows in a long black gown with lace back.

Looking fab, she reminds me of Courtney Cox… Anyone else seeing it?

The series debuts on E! on July 26th at 8PM on E!

A promo video is available on E! (it was set to autoplay, which I know most of my readers hate, so hit the link to watch).

Compelling Ad Featuring Transgender Man And A “Place To Belong”

Google has produced this thoughtful video for Pride Month showing how a small business helped a transgender man through his transition.

From Adweek:

The first half of the spot below focuses on Jake, who was born female but identified as male from a young age. The second half introduces City Gym in Kansas City, Mo., which has given Jake a place where he can feel comfortable getting to know his changing body and find support for him and his friends. (Another gym’s tagline, “No judgments,” would be pretty apt at this place.)

Poem: “A Letter To The Girl I Used To Be”

With the world suddenly paying attention to transgender issues, with the spotlight on Caitlyn Jenner and Laverne Cox, listen to the voice of performance poet Ethan Smith.

This was performed last year during finals at the 2014 College Unions Poetry Slam Invitational.

A transgender man, he performs a poem he wrote to his former self titled “A Letter To The Girl I Used To Be.”

Don’t miss the “postscript” at the end of the poem.

Short Film: “Dylan”

DYLAN is a short film written and directed by Elizabeth Rohrbaugh and is based on a interview done with Dylan Winn Garner.

The film follows a young trans man as he explains his story, his exploration in the trans community, his family’s acceptance of his identity, and ultimately his physical and emotional transformation.

Shot in Coney Island at dawn, the film shows as Dylan literally sheds the layers that have been weighing him down for so many years, and finds a freedom in self love and acceptance.

Rohrbaugh hopes that Dylan can show transgender individuals, (particularly youth), who may be struggling, that they are not alone in this process and that what is waiting for them on the other side is worth it.

An official selection at several important film festivals like Outfest (this coming July 12th) in Los Angeles, the Boston LGBT Film Festival, the Melbourne Queer Film Festival, and the St. Louis International Film Festival, the short is timely and relevant as transgender rights and understanding come front and center in the LGBT world.

TV Tonight: “Becoming Us” On ABC Family

Tonight, ABC Family will air its ABC Family’s new trans-focused documentary series, “Becoming Us.”

From Ryan Seacrest Production, “Becoming Us” focuses on one family’s teenage son, Ben Lehwald, and his journey to understanding his parent’s transition.

As more and more transgender people share their stories, the public’s understanding of gender identity and expression builds.

A recent national HRC survey revealed that 22 percent of likely voters personally know or work with someone who is transgender, and, of that group, two-thirds expressed favorable feelings toward them. That’s up from 17 percent who said they knew a transgender person just a year ago.

Tune in tonight to ABC Family at 9/8 c to see the premiere of “Becoming Us.”
