Anti-Gay Activist Tony Perkins: Americans Will NEVER Accept Marriage Equality

Virulently anti-gay Tony Perkins, of the hate group Family Research Council, was on yesterday’s edition of “Washington Watch” using the same scare tactics his ilk have used for so long now in trying to deny equal rights to LGBT Americans and insisting that a majority of Americans will never support marriage equality:

From Right Wing Watch:

Perkins said that just as reproductive rights debates are still contentious because legal abortion “runs contrary to nature,” gay marriage will similarly never be “resolved” until it is banned throughout the nation.

“I don’t care what they do, how oppressive government becomes in order to force this agenda through, they will never force Americans to accept this, the majority of Americans to accept it. Won’t happen,” he said. “Some may go silent, some may be carried away but they will not resolve this issue, trust me.”

Note the choice of words – “impose,” “force,” “oppressive.” He really makes equal rights sound chilling, doesn’t he?

And that’s how they work, kids. That’s how they work.

You can listen to his sad diatribe below:

Just Another Day In The Alternate Universe Of Tony Perkins

Anti-gay hate group leader Tony Perkins wrote a rambling essay today which – as usual – gets the facts wrong about the Hitching Post wedding venue and a fictional stay on Idaho marriages that is NOT in effect:

“The only place where there seems to be an overwhelming consensus on redefining marriage is in the chambers of 25 unelected judges, who have been arrogant enough to substitute their agendas for the will of 13 states.

“For now, the states are continuing to put up a fight, right down to the local officials forced to carry out the courts’ bidding.

“In Idaho, site of the first ministers ordered to perform gay ‘weddings’ or be imprisoned, U.S. Supreme Court Justice Anthony Kennedy is giving the state a brief reprieve by putting a hold on the ceremonies for now.

“While the two sides appeal the Ninth Circuit ruling that struck down Idaho’s law, the Knapps — and other ordained ministers — will hold their breaths, hoping the same country that gave them conscience rights won’t jail the couple for exercising them.”

Seriously. This man drums up support and dollars for anti-gay animus and he can’t get facts straight.

There is no stay on same-sex marriage in Idaho; and more importantly, no ministers have been “ordered” to perform same-sex weddings.

Hyperbole and hysteria! The sky is falling!

Except – it’s not.

Tony Perkins Gets Trounced On Anti-Gay Lies On Fox News Sunday

In a delicious bit of TV watching, anti-gay Tony Perkins appeared on Fox News this past Sunday in what I’m sure he thought would be a friendly environment to pawn his false claims against marriage equality.

However, Ted Olson (conservative lawyer who has argued and won at the Supreme Court for gay marriage rights) was there to address many of Perkins untruths.

One of the lies Perkins tried to peddle was the anti-gay favorite – “Well, we know from the social science that children do best with a mom and a dad,” Perkins said. “If love is the factor, what boundaries are there?”

The Pulitzer-Prize winning PolitiFact has already addressed this lie calling it FALSE.

Meanwhile, Olson put forward facts. You know, those pesky things.

Watch below as even Fox News host Chris Wallace tries to get Perkins to say something based on anything factual.

Anti-gay hate group leader cries over 7th Circuit Court ruling for equal rights

Family Research Council’s Tony Perkins rode the waahmbulance yesterday, sobbing over the 7th Circuit Court of Appeals UNANIMOUS decision that both Indiana and Wisconsin’s same-sex marriage bans were unconstitutional:

“I am very troubled that this court failed to recognize the self-evident truth that children need and deserve a mom and dad. The ruling doesn’t appear to allow society to choose to maintain a coherent definition of marriage. The courts have no true constitutional authority to unilaterally change the definition of our most fundamental social institution. Yet this court is engaging in judicial activism unlike yesterday’s federal court ruling which upheld the right of Louisiana voters to preserve natural marriage in their state’s public policy.

“The Seventh Circuit’s radical departure from natural law and the received wisdom of human history continues to undermine the legitimacy of the courts in the eyes of a majority of Americans. Marriage redefinitions imposed by judicial fiat cannot change the truth about marriage, men, women, children, and parenting. Ultimately, the American people will have the final word as they experience the consequences of marriage redefinition and the ways in which it fundamentally alters America’s moral, cultural and political landscape.”

Hate group leader Tony Perkins – Tell gay customers they are funding “ex-gay” clinics to scare them away

Hate group leader Tony Perkins

Just when conservatives might be seeing the inevitable in terms of same-sex marriage, now the haters find they have to contend with non-discrimination laws requiring businesses to treat LGBT folks fairly. Of course, the anti-gay industry spins this as a “threat to religious freedom.”

Always have to be the “victims” I guess.

But hate group leader Tony Perkins has an idea that might “scare away” any potential gay customers – contribute the “gay dollars” to ex-gay therapy clinics.

Right Wing Watch reports:

On Monday’s “Washington Watch,” host Tony Perkins lamented how increasingly difficult it is for Christian business owners to actively discriminate against and refuse service to LGBT people or same-sex couples based on their “religious views on sexuality.”

Perkins said that business owners who fear challenges to their discriminatory practices from gay couples should prominently place signs in their businesses explaining their belief in “traditional marriage,” and emphasizing that any profits earned from LGBT customers will be donated to “ministries that actually help people who want to come out of the homosexual lifestyle.”

Listen to Perkin’s pitch his idea below:

Megyn Kelly’s obsession with hate group leader Tony Perkins

Tony Perkins is president of the Family Research Council, a hate group that claims gay men are more likely to be pedophiles than straight men.

From Media Matters:

Tony Perkins is the president of the Family Research Council (FRC), an organization that was labeled an anti-gay “hate group” by the Southern Poverty Law Center in 2010. He has called pedophilia “a homosexual problem,” claimed that gay men “recruit” children into homosexuality, and endorsed a Uganda law that would have imposed the death penalty for homosexuality. His organization regularly produces anti-gay propaganda depicting gay people as abnormal, unnatural, and destined for “eternal damnation.”

He’s also one of Fox News host Megyn Kelly’s favorite guests.  She has had Perkins on her show more than any other Fox News show combined.

Why does she welcome the spokesman for a certified hate group to her show?

Tony Perkins: LGBT groups want daycare and summer camps to celebrate the gays

Tony Perkins says the gays want "complete and utter surrender" by religious groups

Hate group leader Tony Perkins took to his Family Research Council blog to drop some red meat to his followers on the recent withdrawal of support by LBGT advocacy groups for ENDA legislation in light of the recent Hobby Lobby ruling by SCOTUS:

Speaking of ideological oppression, the Employment Non-Discrimination Act (ENDA) is full of it. But apparently, not full enough to suit the radical Left. After months of demanding action, liberals are abruptly bailing on the legislation, which many of them called their top legislative priority. The about-face comes just days after the Supreme Court upheld the religious rights of businesses like Hobby Lobby. It’s a ruling, liberals worry, could translate into new protections for employers with similar faith-based objections to homosexuality.

For President Obama, who was on the brink of imposing ENDA rules on federal contractors by executive order, this new split certainly throws a wrench into the White House’s plans. Several of the LGBT’s political heavyweights, including the ACLU, GLAAD, Lambda Legal, and the National center for Lesbian Rights and the Transgender Law Center, issued a joint announcement withdrawing their support for the Senate bill because of its religious exemptions. As far as these groups are concerned, the exemptions (which, ironically, were a condition of many Democrats’ support) “allow religious organizations to discriminate based on sexual orientation and gender identity.”

[snip]

This is how extreme homosexual activists are. If they can’t demand acceptance from every American, regardless of their moral views, then they aren’t interested in enacting ENDA. Not until they can order Christian schools, daycares, summer camps, and other role model occupations into celebrating a lifestyle diametrically opposed to their faith. Leaders in Congress and elsewhere mistakenly think they can satisfy this radical fringe by climbing aboard the “special rights” bandwagon. They can’t. The only satisfaction they’re interested in is complete and utter surrender.

A couple of things here:

First, the religious exemptions which are currently a part of the ENDA bill were not so much a “condition” as a “concession” necessary to get the votes to pass the bill in the Senate.

Second, note how Perkins keeps using the phrase “special rights” – because if he does it enough, his followers will pick up the same usage and do the same. “Gays want special rights; gays want special rights.”

No. We don’t. We want equal rights.

The more you pay attention to all of this, the more you realize it truly is a game for many of the haters AND it’s a career. Sadly, a very profitable one. These folks make very good incomes stirring up friction between groups of people.

Isn’t that a lovely way to live your life…

Tony Perkins plays the ‘bad loser’ over LGBT Executive Order

Tony Perkins writing for the anti-gay hate group Family Research Council:

“After 30 days of nonstop, in-your-face celebration, the White House is capping off ‘gay pride’ month with its biggest gift yet. Next Monday, the pot of gold at the end of this President’s rainbow is an executive order giving special workplace benefits to the sexually confused.

“For the far-Left, it caps off a long fight to get the administration to do what Congress has not: order employers to put aside their profits, principles, and practices in the name of political correctness.

“The President’s order implementing part of the Employment Non-Discrimination Act (ENDA) — once considered ‘too radical’ even for his own party — forces government contractors and subcontractors to hire gays, lesbians, transvestites, and transsexuals — regardless of their legally protected morals.

“This level of coercion is nothing less than viewpoint blackmail — and from the federal government no less!”

You’ll note how Perkins calls President Obama’s executive order calling for federal contractors to treat LGBT folks with dignity “special workplace benefits.”

And he refers to the gays as “sexually confused.”

ENDA is hardly “too radical” for the President’s own party – the US Senate passed the legislation months ago in a bipartisan fashion.

What Perkins can’t handle is the fact that those he openly disdains are slowly but surely finding their way to equality.  And he can’t stop it.

Tony Perkins angry over Obama executive order on LGBT workplace protections

Yesterday, anti-gay hate group leader for Family Research Council, sent out an email trying to frame the newly announced executive order by President Obama protecting LGBT folks who work for government contractors as “special treatment:”

“Considering the decisions of this administration, every month feels like ‘gay pride month.’ But this year, the President had something special in mind for his activist friends. The President will soon be issuing an executive order mandating that all federal contractors and subcontractors give special treatment to homosexuals, transgenders, and cross-dressers in the workplace. This action is wrong on the merits, because it accepts the premise that distinctions based on actual conduct — such as homosexual behavior and cross-dressing — should be treated the same way as distinctions based on immutable and innocuous characteristics like race.”

[snip]

“It may be Pride month, but President Obama’s pandering to his friends on the far Left is nothing to be proud of.”

There’s more where that came from.

I stopped posting many of his anti-gay diatribes as they were coming so fast and furious with all the progress in the country on marriage equality.  It basically got boring to read his angry bile so often.

But I wanted to share this to remind folks that people like Tony Perkins are still out there – hating on folks every day.

Imagine your every waking moment being focused on diminishing a group of people because you don’t approve of them.

That’s who Tony Perkins is.

What a life…
