White House Hosts Virtual ‘Who’s Who’ Of Anti-LGBT Activists

Last night’s event at the White House was grand enough to rival past ’state dinners’ held for visiting heads of state as President Trump and Vice President Mike Pence welcomed a ‘who’s who’ of evangelical, anti-LGBTQ leaders.

Prominent anti-gay haters included longtime anti-choice activist Ralph Reed, hate group leader Tony Perkins, Texas megachurch Pastor Robert Jeffress (who once declared that Jews are going to hell for killing Jesus), and “Christian” activist Jim Garlow (who has publicly stated gays are ‘demonic’).

That said, Donald Trump’s White House crew were all on hand to happily take pics with the leaders of Trump’s evangelical base, including supposedly LGBTQ-friendly Jared and Ivanka Trump.

Many Americans have not been able to understand how so-called “Christians” can reconcile so many less-than-moral incidents in Trump’s past and present.

In fact, a recent Fox News poll shows Trump enjoys 74% job approval among evangelicals.

The reason why? They don’t care about his moral failings as long as they get the policies they want.

On Fox News last night, Jeffress explained to host Shannon Bream that as long as Trump delivers on the policies he and his ilk want to see passed, they will not be ‘shamed’ for supporting the Trumpster.

“I know a lot of people are still perplexed ‘Why are Christians so supportive of Donald Trump?’” Jeffress said. “Well, it’s really not that hard to figure out when you realize he is the most pro-life, pro-religious liberty, pro-conservative judiciary in history and that includes either Bush or Ronald Reagan. I think that is why evangelicals remain committed to this president and they are not going to turn away from him soon.”

“To be fair, Shannon, we have to understand these are still allegations against the president, so I’m not going to judge the president on these things,” said the megachurch pastor. “But even if they were true, some of these allegations, I mean, obviously, we don’t support extramarital affairs, we don’t support hush money payments, but what we do support are these president’s excellent policies,” Jeffress continued. “And I think most thinking people can absolutely differentiate between the two.”

“And don’t be mistaking what is going on here. Those who hate President Trump, those on the left know that if they can dislodge his evangelical supporters from him, they have a shot at overtaking the White House. So I think the left is trying to shame people like myself continuously for supporting this great president. It’s not going to work. We’re not going to turn away from him.”

Watch Jeffress explain why he and fellow “Christians” won’t be ‘shamed” by Donald Trump’s deeds below.

Christian Activist: Hillary Clinton “Needs To Be Put To Death” For Being A Witch

JoeMyGod points to this lovely display of “good Christian love” from anti-LGBT activist, Ted Shoebat:

“We need judges who uphold the death penalty for evildoers,” he said. “We need judges who would uphold the death penalty for those, not just murderers, obviously murderers deserve death, I think most people would agree with that. But you also have other people who deserve the death penalty, not necessarily murderers; people who are involved in witchcraft, who promote witchcraft. Witchcraft is very, very dangerous, very demonic and look how much destruction it has caused in the United States.

“Look at Hillary Clinton. That’s a witch that needs to be arrested and put to death. Most definitely. As the scriptures says, I believe in Leviticus, ‘Thou shall not suffer a witch to live.’ Homosexuals also need to be put to death, because it is evil, it is demonic and it is against human nature.”

Pat Robertson On Drug Addicts: “Let’em Starve To Death”

“Christian” televangelist Pat Robertson told his TV audience today that drug addicts who won’t work should simply starve.

Cause that’s what Jesus would do?

Right Wing Watch has the details:

A viewer from Massachusetts cited a Boston Herald article about the strain that addicted and mentally ill “super-utilizers” are putting on Boston’s hospitals and Medicaid system and complained that she’s finding it hard to be charitable toward drug addicts who are intentionally overdosing and wasting resources that she is paying for with her taxes.

Robertson responded by citing 2 Thessalonians 3:10, which says that “if anyone will not work, neither shall he eat,” as justification for allowing addicts to starve to death.

“There are a bunch of people who are just bums and they’re trying to ride in on the charity of others,” Robertson said. “Tough love will say, ‘I’m not going to give you something.’ … If these people are out drugging themselves, let ’em starve to death. I know that sounds hard, but that’s the way it’s got to be.”

Media Matters Shines A Light On “Christian” Legal Group Alliance Defending Freedom

Media Matters’ Carlos Maza reports on anti-LGBT Alliance Defending Freedom

Media Matters‘ Carlos Maza shines a spotlight on the virulently anti-LGBT legal group, Alliance Defending Freedom.

Sounds really patriotic and all that jazz, right?

Not so much. These folks are NOT fighting for LGBT freedoms.

The right-wing organization routinely opposes transgender rights, LGBT rights and women’s reproductive rights. In fact, they have advocated for prison sentences for gays around the world.

ADF is a right-wing legal powerhouse that’s been linked to nearly every recent attack on LGBT equality and women’s reproductive health care. The group has testified against Planned Parenthood and was a major player in the Supreme Court’s Hobby Lobby case. Legislation like North Carolina’s bathroom law and Indiana’s “religious freedom” law are the products of ADF’s behind-the-scenes legal work. The group shops extreme model legislation to state lawmakers across the country, testifies in favor of those laws, and then defends them in local and national media.

But news networks that host ADF often identify them as a “Christian” or “conservative” legal organization, failing to mention the group’s history of smearing the LGBT community and working to criminalize homosexuality. ADF has helped defend laws in Belize and Jamaica that would put people in prison for engaging in gay sex. The group opposes anti-bullying efforts, which it believes will indoctrinate “impressionable” children into homosexuality. Alan Sears, the group’s current president, co-wrote a book which claims that homosexuality and pedophilia are “intrinsically linked.” At a recent conference, one ADF attorney claimed that the brutal murder of Matthew Shepard had been falsely depicted as an anti-gay hate crime in order to advance the “homosexual legal agenda.”

“Christian” Couple Plan To Post 1,000 Anti-Gay Billboards Across The Country

Gay Star News reports on the latest project by the Odgaards, the Iowa couple who refused to host same-sex weddings in their art gallery (straight weddings were welcome).

The “Christian” couple were fined $5,000 for violating the state’s public accommodation laws since “open for business” means “open to everyone.”

Rather than allow the icky gay weddings, they voluntarily chose to stop hosting weddings at all.

Well, it all that freed up time, the couple established a tax-exempt charity called God’s Original Design Ministry, and has embarked on posting 1,000 billboards denouncing marriage equality. The first billboard went up south of Durant, Oklahoma a week ago.

‘This billboard is funded 100% by the your generous donations. One down and 999 to go for 1,000 points of light. Thank you and God bless!’ the Odgaards wrote in a post on new ministry’s Facebook page.

But the sign has been roundly condemned in the comments underneath.

‘Hate doesn’t look great on either side. Since it costs approximately between 500 and 8,000 to do this, that would help clothe and feed alot of homeless people (but I’m assuming only if they aren’t gay)?!’ wrote one.

‘I love how you forged God’s signature at the bottom!’ said another

The Odgaards recently appeared in a Ted Cruz campaign video in which they claimed they were ‘forced’ to close their wedding business because of their religious beliefs after they turned away a gay couple.

Bible-Carrying “Christian” Screams Wild Rant At In-N-Out Burger

According to Raw Story, the man in the video above had been hanging around an In-N-Out Burger in Redding, California, most of the day holding the door open for customers with one hand and his Bible in the other.

At some point, said man became enraged that he had not been properly thanked by the restaurant employees for holding the door.

So he went berserk ripping plastic plants out of their planters while screaming:

“Am I gonna get busted? No!” the man shouts at the beginning of the video as customers leave their tables to get away from the commotion.

He goes on the vent loudly about the restaurant “bitching about someone holding a f*cking door for people,” which he claims to be doing because he’s a “f*cking Christian” who’s got to “stand up for other f*cking Christians.”

I don’t think sounds very “Christ-like” but hey, I’m not an expert…
