Some news items you might have missed:

• Fitness model Rodiney Santiago (above) facing down Monday like a boss.

• Thanks to California’s newly signed Gender Recognition Act, folks will soon be able to identify as nonbinary, in addition to male or female, on state-issued identity documents, including driver’s licenses and birth certificates.

• Considering he has never been a friend to the LGBT community, eyebrows were raised when U.S. Attorney General Jeff Sessions sent an experienced hate crime lawyer to Iowa to aid in prosecuting a man accused of killing a transgender high school student.

• In pop culture news, original Charlie’s Angels star Jaclyn Smith says the ladies of the hit 1970s series are thinking about getting together for a reunion. In addition to Jaclyn (Kelly), the surviving “angels” are Cheryl Ladd (Kris), 66; Kate Jackson (Sabrina), 68; Tanya Roberts (Julie), 61; and Shelley Hack (Tiffany), 70.

• Out radio show/columnist Dan Savage has raised over $200K via his ITMFA website. Upon hitting the second $100K, he sent checks to Planned Parenthood ($33,333.33), the ACLU ($33,333.33) and the International Refugee Assistance Project ($33,333.34). The money was raised selling ITMFA (“Impeach The Mother Fucker Already”) buttons, t-shirts, tanks, hats, stickers, coffee cups, and lapel pins at www.ITMFA.org.

• Transgender hip hop artist Epiphany Mattel released her debut single, “Fix Yo Face,” which she says has an important message. “It’s about everyone going above and beyond with their appearance to stand out and be noticed at clubs today, but then they bring their scowl, a ‘resting bitch face,’ that makes them unapproachable,” explains Mattel.

“They’re so insecure with themselves, they push that negative energy on the rest of the party and make everyone else uncomfortable. It’s a party bitches… lighten the hell up,” she adds.

• Southwest Airlines denied these gay dads and their three kids ‘Family Boarding’ privileges.

• President Trump’s upcoming budget proposal will include a request to cut 25% of the budget for food stamps (Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program.

• Former National Security Adviser Michael Flynn apparently lied during his security clearance interview regarding payments he received for traveling to Russia.

• You have watched Season 2 of Netflix’s sci-fi series SENSE8, right?

• Very interesting dialogue between two long-term HIV survivors who have polar opposite views on longterm survivorship, Mark King and Sean McKenna. I really recommend reading it.

• Researchers from the University of Toronto Mississauga say they may have a clue as to what might make a gay man a bottom. According the scientists, tell-tale signs include having an older brother and being left-handed. Additionally, the preference could be linked to the amount of prenatal testosterone they received in utero. Interesting stuff! Read more here.

• Virulently anti-LGBT Brian Brown, of the ironically named National Organization for Marriage, says he’s found kindred spirits in Russia as he travels the world campaigning against marriage equality.

• Neo-nazi adviser to President Trump, Sebastian Gorka, will be leaving the White House in the aftermath of his “PhD” being exposed as fake. The professor who discovered Gorka’s fake doctorate has said the degree “is as real as one issued by Trump University.”

• Kelly Ripa announced today that her new talk show co-host will be…. Ryan Seacrest!

• Check out this terrific Star-Spangled Banner moment – Game 3 of the Stanley Cup playoffs between the Ducks and Oilers in Edmonton, and the performer’s mic has a technical prob. So, he gets the whole place, Canadians and all, to sing our National Anthem. #Awesome

• Pop goddess and long-time LGBT ally Kylie Minogue was told to cut shots of same-sex couples kissing from her awesome 2010 music video for “All The Lovers.” Kylie refused to cut the kisses because she felt the video was an “homage to her gay audience who helped propel her initial success.”

Rodiney Santiago’s “Ruf.Rod” swimwear line

Model Rodiney Santiago has partnered with Rufskin to launch a line of swimwear. The new line, called “Ruf.Rod” features a variety of different colors and cuts inspired by his native Brazil. “This collection of swimwear, called ‘sungas’ in Brazil, includes solid color blocks, mesh and patterns with a color palette chosen by me and Ruskin designer Hubert Pouches,” said Santiago of his debut collection.
