“It’s amazing, isn’t it? By June, the Supreme Court will say, ‘Let’s stop this nonsense and cover the entire country.’ It’s inevitable — equality is inevitable.” – Ricky Martin to Billboard about the impending SCOTUS review of same-sex marriage

Ricky Martin Instagram’s From #Heaven

Over the weekend, Ricky Martin’s death was erroneously reported in a graphic and YouTube video of a car crash.

Martin, a native of Puerto Rico, extinguished those rumors by posting an all too appropriate picture from the beach with the caption “Hello from #heaven” on his Instagram account.

Martin followed up by capturing “#Heaven” as the sun was setting…

Ricky Martin Tweets Support For Adoption By Same-Sex Couples In Puerto Rico

Ricky Martin turned his Twitter account towards the legislative bodies of Puerto Rico asking that the laws be changed to allow same-sex couples to adopt in the country.

Martin’s tweet says ‘Please @SenadoPR and @TuCamaraPR approve #PS437 so that same-sex couples can adopt. @eduardobhatia @jrperello @agarciapadilla’

This comes after a ruling last week by a judge in PR that upheld the same-sex marriage ban there. Although, LGBT advocates aren’t very worried by that development as Puerto Rico is under the jurisdiction of the 1st Circuit Court of Appeals, where every other state has marriage equality.

But since we’re on the subject of Ricky, let’s take another look at his new music video “Adios” 🙂

New Music Video: Ricky Martin “Adiós”

“Adiós” is the first single from Ricky Martin’s forthcoming album, which is scheduled for an early 2015 release.  You can find the track at iTunes.

The uber-stylish video was filmed on location at the Long Beach, Calif., speakeasy Harvelle’s, which opened in 1931 during Prohibition. Ricky Martin plays five characters – a policeman, bartender, bouncer, mobster and singer.

“Adiós” features dancers from Harlow Gold, the cutting-edge L.A. burlesque troupe founded by world-renowned choreographers Tracy Phillips and Dominic Carbone.

Note as the dancers wind their way into the audience, they begin to flirt with the crowd. First the female dancers hit on the men, then work their way to the woman in the audience. Not heavy-handed, just there.  Without being nasty or dirty, it creates a very sexy, lightly erotic atmosphere.

Fun.

Oh – and yeah, Ricky’s still super-easy on the eyes. Excuse me while I watch this one more time. Or two…

Ricky will be touring Mexico in support of the new project – check his tour dates at the official website.

New Music: Ricky Martin “Adiós”

Take a listen to Ricky Martin‘s new single, “Adiós,” to be released tomorrow on all digital platforms.

(Although, to be honest, when you have a promo pic this good, I almost don’t need to listen. Just let me stare for a while. Geez, he’s good-looking….)

“We chose “Adiós” because it represents who I am today. The title is a reference to the opening of another cycle,” Ricky Martin said of the first single off his anticipated new album, scheduled to be released at the beginning of next year by Sony Music Latin.

A week after the release of “Adiós”, Martin will kick off a concert series called “Live In Mexico” with two consecutive concerts at the Palacio De Los Deportes in Mexico City on October 3 and 4. The tour will continue on to Mexico’s main cities including: Guadalajara, Monterrey, Ciudad del Carmen, Puebla, Morelia, among others.

New Music: “Vida” by Ricky Martin for 2014 World Cup Album

Ricky Martin releases official video for “Vida”

Yesterday, Ricky Martin released the official video for “Vida,” which will be included in the Official FIFA World Cup album, “One Love, One Rhythm.”

The song was written by the winner of SuperSong global competition, Elijah King, who worked closely with Martin to record the final version of the track.

From Huffington Post:

The song’s lyrics pay tribute to the international soccer tournament’s ability to bring people from “every nation” together to celebrate and enjoy “la vida buena” (the good life). The video was filmed in Rio de Janeiro and was directed by Kátia Lund and Lívia Gama of Bossa Nova Films.

“I had a lot of fun flying to and shooting in Brazil,” Martin said. “It an incredible feeling to be able to have the opportunity to participated in a global initiative like SuperSong. I very excited to finally be able to sing “Vida” and share this special song with the world.”

Looking quite relaxed in shorts and a tank, Ricky sings along the beaches of the Brazilian city with approximately 100 extras — kids, dancers, models, samba dancers and more that were carefully chosen to represent the diversity of the Brazilian people.
