Donald Trump’s Language Towards Latinos Makes Ricky Martin’s Blood “Boil”

Music superstar Ricky Martin is fed up with Donald Trump’s attacks and demeaning tone towards the Latino community, and he’s not going to stay quiet about it.

In a spanish language op-ed (translated on Billboard.com), Martin unleashes his displeasure over The Donald’s harassment that Martin says makes his “blood boil.”

“The fact that an individual like Donald Trump, a candidate for the presidency of the United States for the Republican party, has the audacity to continue to gratuitously harass the Latin community makes my blood boil.

When did this character assume he could make comments that are racist, absurd, and above all incoherent and ignorant about us Latinos?

From the beginning his intention was transparent: basically tell barbarities and lies to remain relevant in the public opinion, for votes or simply to stay on the media’s radar.

Yesterday’s episode against journalist Jorge Ramos, one of the most beloved and respected Latinos in world media, has gotten to the point of enough is enough.

Jorge Ramos was doing HIS JOB as a journalist at a press conference in which he appeared freely and democratically, representing one of the most important Latin television networks in the world and with the same right to freely exercise his profession as all other journalists.

But this new character in American politics verbally attacks him and ejects him from the press conference.

This action from Trump doesn’t surprise me, what does surprise me is that as Hispanics we continue to accept the aggressions and accusations of people like him who attack our dignity.

Enough is enough!

If we are united for some things we should be united for others. We have already shown the United States who we are and we cannot allow this behavior.

We have to defeat the power that Trump pretends to have over Latinos, anchored in low rhetoric and xenophobic speech, which his campaign team is convinced works for him.

Let’s show that our Latin race is to be respected, let’s not allow a political hopeful to plant his campaign in insult and humiliation. Let’s demand respect for those first generations of Latinos who came to the United States and opened a path for us. We have fought for every right that we have today.

Xenophobia as a political strategy is the lowest you can go in search of political power.

This is an issue that unites us and we need to battle it together, not just for us but for the evolution of humanity and those to come.”

Ricky Martin Pens Open Letter To His Sons For Father’s Day

Ricky Martin, arguably one of the sexiest dads in the world, pens this touching open letter to his sons as part of Time’s “Letters From Dads” series set to be released tomorrow on Father’s Day.

“To Matteo and Valentino,

From the first moment you were in my arms, I have told you how incredibly grateful, honored and blessed I am to be your father. But I don’t believe I ever told you how you changed my life.

For years, the one thing always clear in my heart was that I wanted to be a father. I dreamed of it often and found great strength and inspiration from the possibility.

When this dream became a reality, you can’t imagine the joy and emotions that filled me. I was anxiously awaiting your arrival, counting the days, the hours, the minutes until your birth. I must have read every book out there about parenting, preparing myself for your arrival. Then, finally, the first time I held you in my arms, the world stopped for me.

The most beautiful and indescribable feeling took over. I felt the purest form of love for the first time in my life. You were finally with me, and I knew I was the luckiest and happiest man in the world!

Since that first moment, my journey with you two has been filled with joy and adventure. We have been traveling the world together since you were just two years old. We learn new things everyday, and I am amazed by anything and everything you do. You make me a better person and inspire me to try new things such as write my first children’s book.

Above all, my beautiful sons, your love gave me the strength to live an honest life. A life of courage and transparency, which fills me with great pride and peace. What an amazing gift you have given me, and I’m forever thankful to you.

If there is anything I want you to live with, aside from knowing that you are unconditionally loved and adored by me and our family and friends, it is that you can be YOURSELF. Don’t ever let anyone or anything make you feel like you can’t be your true self.

Whatever you decide to be or do, I will always be by your side. Please take strength and comfort in that knowledge and never forget it.

I love you,

Papi”

Ricky Martin Features Same-Sex Wedding In Latest Music Video

Check out Ricky Martin’s second single – “Disparo El Corazon” [“Shot to the Heart”] – off his latest Spanish-language album A Quien Quiera Escucha.

The music video features reflections of same-sex couples on their wedding day, blended with Martin’s own reflection in the mirror as he sings about a love affair that went sour.

Dolce & Gabbana Backtrack On LGBT Family Criticism

Fashion designers backtracked today on their recent comments in the Italian magazine Panorama, where they were critical of same-sex couples raising children.

The two designers were together romantically for 23 years and broke up in 2005. Their comments included their opinion that children born through IVF are “children of chemistry, synthetic children. Uteruses for rent, semen chosen from a catalog.”

“I am gay, I cannot have a child. I guess you cannot have everything in life,” Dolce added. “Life has a natural course, some things cannot be changed. One is the family.”

The comment drew sharp criticism from major celebs around the world including Ricky Martin, Elton John and Martina Navratilova.

On Sunday, Gabbana issued a statement saying “it was never our intention to judge other people’s choices. We do believe in freedom and love.”

Dolce said his comments about family were based on his personal childhood growing up in a traditional Sicilian family “made up of a mother, a father and children. I am very well aware of the fact that there are other types of families and they are as legitimate as the one I’ve known.”

Dolce added that his personal views were not a judgement of “other people’s choices.”
