Speaking with CNN’s Dana Bash on marriage equality, Sen. Rand Paul says that while LGBTs can have a “the neutrality of the law that allows contracts with another,” he doesn’t believe that can be called “marriage.”

In the latest CNN/ORC poll, Democrat Hillary Clinton beats every potential GOP candidate by at least 11 points.
Coming closest to Hillary is Sen. Rand Paul of Kentucky, but still 11 points behind the former Secretary of State with 54% preferring Clinton and only 43% picking Paul.
Former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush and current Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker each get only 40% to Hillary’s 55%.
And it gets worse for the rest of the pack from there.
In terms of the Democratic nomination, folks like Hillary over Vice-President Biden 62%-15%. Sen. Elizabeth Warren of Massachusetts gets 10%.
The GOP side is still packed up in the teens with Bush getting 16% support, Walker getting 13% and Paul getting 12%.
Appearing on Fox News yesterday, Republican Senator Rand Paul from Kentucky told Bret Baier that allowing gays and lesbians to marry “offends myself and a lot of people.”
“I’m for tradition marriage,” Paul said. “I think marriage is between a man and a woman. Ultimately, we could have fixed this a long time ago if we just allowed contracts between adults. We didn’t have to call it marriage, which offends myself and a lot of people.”
“I think having competing contracts that would have given them equivalency before the law would have solved a lot of these problems, and it may be where we’re still headed.”
Clearly, Sen. Paul (a probable candidate for the 2016 Republican presidential nomination) is of a mind that “separate but equal” would suit him better than true marriage equality. But, as everyone knows, “separate but equal” is never “equal.”
A spokesperson for the Democratic National Committee, Ian Sams, issued this statement:
“Saying marriage equality ‘offends’ him gives us yet another glimpse of Paul’s true colors — a restrictive, retro social agenda that sets back LGBT rights and questions longstanding gains in civil rights. Support for marriage equality is at record highs, and most Americans now live in states where it’s legal. What’s truly offensive is Rand Paul’s insistence on being stuck in the past and failing to support equal rights for LGBT Americans.”

Sen. Rand Paul (R-KY), probable 2016 GOP presidential candidate, won the 2015 CPAC straw poll edging out recently surging Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker.
This marks the third year in a row that Sen. Paul has won the straw poll.
Mitt Romney won in 2012, the year he became the GOP nominee for president.

Sen Rand Paul did himself no favors when speaking to Politico recently about Hillary Clinton’s possible run for president in 2016.
“I think all the polls show if she does run, she’ll win the Democrat nomination. But I don’t think it’s for certain. It’s a very taxing undertaking to go through. It’s a rigorous physical ordeal, I think, to be able to campaign for the presidency.”
It’s not clear if Paul thinks women in their late 60s can’t handle the campaign trail, or if it’s just Democratic women, or if it’s just Hillary. Lately, Paul has been very aggressive about targeting the former secretary of state.
Even the folks over at Fox News thought the comment went too far.
Fox’s Neil Cavuto was critical of the attack on Clinton’s age, pointing out that she would be the same age as Reagan was on inauguration day, adding that the senator did his own potential GOP candidacy “damage with that condescending swipe.”
Even Paul’s father, former congressman Ron Paul, who ran for prez himself was 77 at the time.

GOP Sen. Rand Paul discusses the issue of same-sex marriage and the Republican party.
In doing so, he says he believes in “old-fashioned traditional marriage, but that the Republican party “can have people on both sides of the issue.”
When asked if HE could rethink his position on the issue – he shrugs.
This won’t play well with the haters. They need firm, absolute “gay-marriage disdain” or they will not invite you to play.

According to a Quinnipiac University poll released Tuesday, Sen. Rand Paul barely leads the way among national Republican voters with 11% of the vote in a potential 2016 GOP primary.
New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie, former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee and former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush all tied for second with 10% of the vote.
However, the Democrats know who they want for 2016. Hillary Clinton leads with 58% of those polled. Coming in a distant second is Massachusetts Senator Elizabeth Warren with 11%. Vice-president Joe Biden comes in third with 9%.
In head to head match ups, Hillary leads all of the GOP folks by a margin of 7-9 points.
