Hillary Clinton Attacked For “Basket Of Deplorables” Comment

There’s faux outrage in Trumpland today after Democrat Hillary Clinton described Donald Trump’s most extreme supporters as “the basket of deplorables” at an LGBT fund raiser in New York City last night.

Via Politico:

“You know,” Clinton said at the LGBT event, “to just be grossly generalistic, you could put half of Trump’s supporters into what I call the basket of deplorables.”

“Right?” Clinton said as the crowd laughed and applauded.

“The racist, sexist, homophobic, xenophobic, Islamaphobic — you name it,” Clinton continued. “And unfortunately there are people like that. And he has lifted them up. He has given voice to their websites that used to only have 11,000 people — now have 11 million. He tweets and retweets their offensive, hateful, mean-spirited rhetoric.”

The Democratic nominee then sought to draw a distinction between the two halves of the “basket.”

“Now, some of those folks — they are irredeemable, but thankfully they are not America. But the other basket,” she said, “are people who feel that the government has let them down, the economy has let them down, nobody cares about them, nobody worries about what happens to their lives and their futures, and they’re just desperate for change.”

These Trump supporters, Clinton said, “don’t buy everything he says,” but “hold out some hope that their lives will be different” with him as president. “They won’t wake up and see their jobs disappear, lose a kid to heroin, feel like they’re in a dead end. Those are people we have to understand and empathize with as well.”

I guess this means that Hillary just lost the racist vote. Quel dommage.

The Trump campaign is attempting to liken the statement to Mitt Romney’s now infamous “47 percent” comments caught on tape at private fund raising event during the 2012 presidential campaign.

It’s entertaining to see Trump’s campaign, which was launched on the idea that “political correctness” should be ditched in today’s society for more “straight talk,” get all twisted because Hillary called Trump’s followers out for what they are.

I guess they like straight talk until the subject turns to them.

UPDATE: Hillary Clinton has issued a statement expressing “regret” over the “generalistic” nature of her comment last night.

“Last night I was ‘grossly generalistic,’ and that’s never a good idea. I regret saying ‘half’ — that was wrong.”

Maine Gov. LePage: “Overwhelming Majority” Of Drug Dealers Are People Of Color

Maine Gov. Paul LePage attempts to rebuke the idea that he’s a racist by blaming people of color for his state’s war on drugs:

“Look, a bad guy is a bad guy, I don’t care what color it is. When you go to war, if you know the enemy, the enemy dresses in red and you dress in blue, you shoot at red, don’t you?”

“You shoot at the enemy. You try to identify the enemy. And the enemy right now, the overwhelming majority right now coming in are people of color or people of Hispanic origin. I can’t help that. I just can’t help it. Those are the facts.”

How do you think he did?

Of course, this comes a day after he called a state legislator a “cocksucker” for having a different opinion.

He seems like an interesting guy, huh?

Donald Trump’s Staffers Love To Post Racist/Anti-Muslim Content To Social Media

A look into the social media accounts of 50 present and former Donald Trump staffers by the Associated Press reveals numerous racist and anti-Muslim posts including Muslims being unfit to be U.S. citizens, mocking Mexican accents, black on white violence and more inflammatory content.

The AP examined the social media feeds of more than 50 current and former campaign employees who helped propel Trump through the primary elections. The campaign has employed a mix of veteran political operatives and outsiders. Most come across as dedicated, enthusiastic partisans, but at least seven expressed views that were overtly racially charged, supportive of violent actions or broadly hostile to Muslims.

A graphic designer for Trump’s advance team approvingly posted video of a black man eating fried chicken and criticizing fellow blacks for ignorance, irresponsibility and having too many children. A Trump field organizer in Virginia declared that Muslims were seeking to impose Sharia law in America and that “those who understand Islam for what it is are gearing up for the fight.”

The AP’s findings come at a time when Trump is showing new interest in appealing to minority voters, insisting he will be fair in dealing with the 11 million people in the U.S. illegally and explicitly pitching himself to African-Americans, saying “what do you have to lose?”

The AP also reviewed the public social media accounts of more than three dozen employees of Hillary Clinton’s far larger campaign staff and found nothing as inflammatory. One staffer said Trump’s style of speaking reminded him of a roommate who had taken too many hallucinogenic mushrooms. AP also reviewed images attached to more than 19,000 stolen internal emails from the Democratic National Committee for racially or religiously inflammatory memes, finding nothing of note.

While the AP has sent several requests for comment on the social media posts over the past month, no response has been forthcoming.

CNN’s Jake Tapper Asks Donald Trump 23 Times If Attack On Trump University Judge Was “Racist”

You gotta give it to CNN’s Jake Tapper.

He asks Donald Trump about his recent public attacks on the judge presiding over his Trump University lawsuit. Trump has accused the judge of having a conflict of interest because The Donald plans to build a wall between Mexico and the U.S. According to Trump, the judge is biased because he’s “Mexican.”

Note: the judge was born in Indiana.

Twenty-three times Tapper tries to get an answer as to why the judge can’t be impartial. Twenty-three times the Trumpster deflects.

Check Tapper’s face in the image above from the interview. Tells the tale.

In related news, on CBS’s Face the Nation today, Trump said it “would be possible, absolutely” that  a Muslim judge would be too biased against him to preside over a lawsuit over him due to his insistence that Muslims be banned from the U.S.

Donald Trump Campaign Gave Press Credentials To White Supremacist Radio Show

This does nothing to stem the accusations of “racist” directed at Republican front-runner Donald Trump.

From Media Matters:

Donald Trump’s presidential campaign gave press credentials to the white nationalist radio program The Political Cesspool, which says it will soon air an interview with Donald Trump Jr.

National civil rights groups have criticized the program for supporting anti-Semites, Holocaust deniers, and white supremacists like David Duke.

The show openly states on its website that it’s a “pro-White” program that wishes “to revive the White birthrate above replacement level fertility.”

It is hosted by white nationalist James Edwards, who has claimed that Martin Luther King Jr.’s “dream is our nightmare,” “interracial sex is white genocide,” and “slavery is the greatest thing that ever happened to” African-Americans.

Former Ku Klux Klan leader David Duke is a frequent guest on the radio show.

Donald Trump Supporters Don’t Like Being “Labeled” For Saying Racist Things

https://www.facebook.com/watch/?v=1049678605125193 Seriously? The woman who says she has a “right to her opinion without being labeled something.” She wants to be able to express HERSELF without others having an opinion about it? Toss that around in your head for a minute. Just be bigot and go on. Have the courage of your misguided convictions. They might as well say “Just because I use the N-word doesn’t make me a bigot.” Dang, these people….

Pennsylvania: Racist Employee Goes On N-Word Rant, Loses Job

A man, identified as John Pisone, goes on racist rant

According to Butler News, a man identified as John Pisone took time out of his day to go on a racist rant during a peaceful protester of a fracking operation in Pennsylvania.

Pisone, who apparently worked for MMC Land Management – a company subcontracted by Rex Energy – was fired after video of his rant went viral.

Via Raw Story:

In a video posted to YouTube on Monday by photojournalist Tom Jefferson, a man wearing work clothes and a camouflage hat is seen approaching anti-fracking activists who are protesting Rex Energy’s drilling operation in the Mars Area School District.

“Have you actually done something with your life, have you had any kind of a job?” the man asks one of the older activists, who laughs in his face.

“Just like this chimp right here,” the man continues, motioning at the camera.

“What did you say?” one of the activists asks.

“Yeah, chimp,” the man replies. “A f*cking n****r right here with a mop on his head. I don’t give a f*ck. He’s milking my f*cking tax dollars.”

Although the man was initially identified by some as an employee of Rex Energy, a statement later revealed that he had worked for MMC Land Management.

“Today, we were disgusted to learn that one of MMC’s former employees used racial slurs and made racially charged comments during a peaceful protest in Mars, Pennsylvania, outside of work hours at a location with which we have no affiliation,” the statement posted to Facebook late on Tuesday explained. “We are sorry that this incident occurred. Whether at work or not, we do not condone hate speech – EVER.”

“MMC has terminated this employee and will never do business with him again in the future.”

Here’s the video:

A Facebook page for Pisone was found, but quickly deleted shortly thereafter.

Here’s just one sample from his Facebook page:

Mike Huckabee In Hot Water Over “Racist” Tweet

It wasn’t Donald Trump but former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee who raised eyebrows last night as the Huckster sent out the above tweet which many considered racist.

In addition, the irony was not lost on many that some years ago, Huckabee’s son his son David was accused of capturing and hanging a stray dog at Boy Scout camp as a teen.

Alabama Ku Klux Klan Member Claims Auschwitz Was A Jewish “Summer Camp”

An Alabama chapter of the Ku Klux Klan allowed a BBC news crew to follow their activities to explore and better understand racist attitudes in the U.S. following the murders of 9 church-goers by a white supremacist in Charleston.

From Alternet:

As Klan members assemble 3,000 fliers to deliver to a predominately black neighborhood, the BBC interviewer notices a photograph of Adolf Hitler on the wall.

“Adolf Hitler, he was one of the smartest men there ever was,” a Klan member explains. “The so-called concentration camps like Auschwitz and so forth, they say they were death camps. But these death camps, they gave the so-called people that were being killed cigarettes, there was coffee, there was a movie theater, a library, even a swimming pool in Auschwitz.”

“And if you’re going to sit there and kill all these people then how come all these things would be in there?” he continues. “It’s more like a summer camp.”

“Sorry,” the stunned interviewer interrupts. “You’re telling me Auschwitz was like a summer camp?”

“Well, they had a swimming pool, a movie theater and everything else,” the Klan member insists. “You know, you don’t see in prisons today any kind of swimming pool being in the middle of the prison hall.”

“So what do you think the Jews were doing in Auschwitz?” the interviewer asks.

“Swimming,” the white supremacist replies. “And working. Because they didn’t want to do any work, and what Hitler was trying to do was he was trying to teach them to work, trying to rehabilitate them, if you will.”

“Where did you hear this?” the dumbfounded interviewer wonders.

“It’s all history,” the Klan member says.

Although the BBC interviewer continues to press, Klan members eventually tire of the subject and head out to distribute their fliers.

“In Britain, inciting racial hatred carries a possible sentence of seven years in prison,” the narrator explains to the British audience. “Here in the U.S., the First Amendment guarantees free speech. Even for blatant racism.”

“More than a million prisoners died at Auschwitz,” the narrator adds. “The vast majority of them were Jewish.”
