For all those folks who like to say President Obama has “only made things worse.”
Facts, kids. Facts.
Last night in Washington DC, President Obama participated in the long tradition of delivering some jokes at the White House Correspondents’ Association dinner taking aim at everyone from Cliven Bundy, Obamacare, his “yes we can” slogan, John Boehner’s tan, CNN’s coverage of the plane, FOX News, and gridlock in Congress.
The past few years the President has focused mainly on himself as a target of the good-natured jokes, but last night no one was safe from being included in his remarks.
The President is very adept at delivering a punchline. I guess when you have to deal with some of the jokers he does, something’s bound to rub off.
Here’s a few of his best lines. Check out more at Politico.
• “These days, House Republicans are actually giving John Boehner a harder time than they’re giving me, which means orange really is the new black.”
• On 2016: “Let’s face it, Fox, you’re going to miss me. It’ll be harder to convince the American people that Hillary was born in Kenya.”
• “MSNBC’s here, they’re a little overwhelmed. They’ve never seen an audience this big before.”
MSNBC’s Rachel Maddow debunks the assertion of some political pundits on the right that President Barack Obama’s appearance on the Funny or Die web video “Between Two Ferns” debased the office of the presidency.
Maddow features Presidents Dwight Eisenhower, Richard Nixon, Ronald Reagan, and George W. Bush – all who appeared with popular comedians at some point in their presidency.
As Maddow says, if you are concerned about the “dignity of the presidency” being imperiled by these appearances, “you should probably lighten up.”

All tweets that end with “-bo” indicate that the President himself sent the tweet.
Of course, the folks over at Fox News with no sense of humor went insane over how “inappropriate” they felt the President’s appearance was. From Fox News host Brian Kilmeade:

President Obama sat down with Zach Galifianakis on his Funny or Die web interview series “Between Two Ferns” to discuss signing up for the Affordable Care Act.
“Between Two Ferns” is one of the funniest and most successful ongoing video series on the internet. Each video averages approximately 6 million views.
In the video, Zach takes the interview a tad off-track as he brings up questions regarding sending Ambassador Rodman to North Korea, Obama erecting his presidential library in Kenya, letting his son play football, who he rooted for in the Sochi Winter Olympics, and whether he’ll outlaw same-sex divorce. That was just the beginning of the barbs traded between Obama and Galifianakis.
Best line by President Obama: “I’ve seen episodes of this show before and some of those episodes have been a little bit better than this. For example, that one with Bradley Cooper? That was a great show.”
UPDATE: Within hours, the video has garnered over 5.4 million views and is reportedly the biggest driver of traffic to HealthCare.gov.
From The Hill:
White House spokesman Jay Carney said the White House wasn’t concerned that the comedy routine might have undermined the dignity of the office of the president.
“We obviously assess opportunities that we have and, you know, look at whether or not they’re going to be successful and wise,” Carney said. “And I think we made the right call here.”
Carney also said that Funny or Die, the website that hosts the faux-public access show “Between Two Ferns” featuring the “Hangover” star, was the No. 1 referral source to HealthCare.gov on Tuesday morning.
“The video itself was causing the action that we’d hoped it would cause, which is getting folks to go to HealthCare.gov and look at the options available to them and hopefully enroll,” Carney said.
Another “fail” by the Socialist/Communist President Obama. Check the graph above starting in 2009 when Obama took office.
From the conservative Wall Street Journal:
Americans’ wealth reached an inflation-adjusted record last year thanks to a surging stock market and rising home values, laying the groundwork for stronger economic growth.
The net worth of U.S. households and nonprofit organizations—the value of homes, stocks and other assets minus debts and other liabilities—rose 3.8% in the fourth quarter of 2013, up about $3 trillion from the prior quarter, to $80.7 trillion, according to a report by the Federal Reserve released Thursday.
Overall, Americans’ wealth rose 14% in 2013, or $9.8 trillion, from 2012.
After a while, you have to wonder what conservative/Tea Party folks will have left to complain about. Two wars ended, Osama bin Laden dead, stock market doubled, real estate values improving, more equal rights for all…
Worst Socialist Ever!
Or – put another way – Go Obama!
Secretary of State John Kerry said Russia’s decision was a “brazen act of aggression” and that US President Barack Obama was “considering all options” before responding to the situation.
“This is not, or should not be East-West, Russia-United States, Russia versus Europe: this is about the people of Ukraine, people who stood up against snipers firing at them from the roofs, who are fighting against the tyranny of having political opposition put in jail,” said Mr Kerry.
“And President Putin, I think, needs to think carefully about Russia’s real interests here. You know Russia may be able to invade Crimea, but in the end, Russia will isolate itself,” he added.

President Obama issued a statement today saying Uganda’s continuing steps to criminalize the LGBT community in that country is becoming more and more of a threat to the two country’s political relationship.
On Friday, a spokesman for the Ugandan president signaled that President Yoweri Museveni was likely to sign a bill that would punish the “the promotion or recognition” of same-sex relations with as much as life in prison.
As written, the law would dictate a 14 year prison sentence for first time “offenders.” Subsequent convictions could lead to life in prison.
President Obama issued this statement via press release:
“As a country and a people, the United States has consistently stood for the protection of fundamental freedoms and universal human rights. We believe that people everywhere should be treated equally, with dignity and respect, and that they should have the opportunity to reach their fullest potential, no matter who they are or whom they love.
“That is why I am so deeply disappointed that Uganda will shortly enact legislation that would criminalize homosexuality. The Anti-Homosexuality Bill in Uganda, once law, will be more than an affront and a danger to the gay community in Uganda. It will be a step backward for all Ugandans and reflect poorly on Uganda’s commitment to protecting the human rights of its people. It also will mark a serious setback for all those around the world who share a commitment to freedom, justice and equal rights.
“As we have conveyed to President Museveni, enacting this legislation will complicate our valued relationship with Uganda. At a time when, tragically, we are seeing an increase in reports of violence and harassment targeting members of the LGBT community from Russia to Nigeria, I salute all those in Uganda and around the world who remain committed to respecting the human rights and fundamental human dignity of all persons.”
Through a series of tweets, national security adviser Susan Rice said she had spoken to the Ugandan president and shared President Obama’s concerns.
