Fox News anchor Bret Baier, in an email shared today by anti-gay Peter LaBarbera, explained exactly why he cancelled his speech at the upcoming anti-gay Legatus Conference:
I am a lifelong mass attending Catholic – I’m a lector at my parish. I consider myself to be in line with my Church on most things. This isn’t about me.. but, describing homosexuality as a ‘disorder’ and talking about ways to ‘cure’ people from it – does not seem to line up with the loving, accepting Church that I know. Nor does it match up with how Pope Francis has talked about the issue recently.
I couldn’t speak because of that – I don’t wish the group any harm, but after Gary Sinise pulled out.. as a newsman, Fox agreed that I could not be surrounded by that controversy… as much as I would have loved to have talked about my book, my faith, and my son’s battle with congenital heart disease.
Anti-gay Peter LaBarbera calls for civil disobedience because “gay:”
“Yesterday’s action by the Supreme Court only solidifies the idea that the powerful elites who dominate politics, media and culture do not care what the people think, expressed through the ballot box or their elected state legislators.
“And if ‘We the People’s’ votes do not count, then We live not in freedom but under tyranny. The notion that nine men and women in black robes know more about what constitutes marriage than 76 percent of Oklahoma’s voters is insulting and preposterous.
“Now is the time for civil disobedience on a massive scale: we hope that statesmen and citizens alike–in Oklahoma, Wisconsin, Indiana, Utah and Virginia—indeed, any state where the people’s will has been robbed by elitist judges—will reassert their state sovereignty against escalating judicial supremacy.
“The Scriptures are clear that homosexual practice is an offense against both God and the very bodies of those who practice it.”

Anti-gay Peter LaBarbera, attacks Fox News for running a story about Miami Dolphins getting in trouble for saying negative things about Michael Sam kissing his boyfriend after being drafted. Apparently the story was “one-sided” and didn’t blame Michael Sam for something:
“Don Jones had no reason to apologize. Defending historic Judeo-Christian morality and being horrified by sinful, perverse acts like same-sex kissing in public is not ‘hate’ or ‘bigotry.’ It’s called being normal.
“Please pray for this lost soul, Michael Sam, who could lead many young men astray by popularizing a grievous sin. It is tragic that the establishment power structure–media, Hollywood, academia, the corporate world–now reward those who embrace homosexuality, and punish those who oppose it. The very opposite of anti-sodomy laws, huh? Yes, America is now, morally speaking, an upside-down culture–descending willy-nilly into godlessness and sexual/gender chaos. But no civilization that glories in sexual immorality will survive in the long run.”
Seriously. Michael Sam realizes his life-long dream and in the moment turns to the love of his life and… shakes his hand? Is that what Peter LaBarbera would expect?
It’s a kiss. People in love kiss. Get over it, Peter.
Sinclair Community College students and professors found their own way to protest anti-LGBT Peter LaBarbera coming to speak at their Dayton, Ohio, campus.
They showed up, and then they just got up and walked out as he began to speak:
Mr. LaBarbera approached the podium and apologized affably for keeping us waiting. He talked about the importance of dialogue and respect. And then he said there was no scientific evidence that homosexuality is not a choice. He reminded us that the hypocritical left, in silencing voices like his, is really the party guilty of intolerance.
And that was our cue to leave.
We stood, without a word, and walked out. I heard a woman shouting, “Shame! Shame on you!” There were gasps and a few loud grumbles of disapproval, LaBarbera’s aforementioned “Are you effing kidding me” among them. We walked out of the venue and into the Student Activities Center, where we hugged and laughed and ate Honey Maid graham crackers. Photographs of the venue after we walked out show that about 12 people remained behind, at least two of whom I recognize as allies who likely stayed to see what he would say. It was a beautiful, beautiful thing.
Virulently anti-gay Peter LaBarbara tweets that he was detained at the Canadian border at the Saskatchewan airport late last night for possible violations of provincial “hate propaganda” laws.
For no good reason that would add up to any common sense, virulently anti-gay Peter LaBarbera was invited to be a guest on Alan Colmes radio show yesterday.
LaBarbera runs the “Americans for Truth about Homosexuality” which is a classified as a certified hate group by the Southern Poverty Law Center.
While talking with Colmes, LaBarbera stated that children would “be better off in a single-parent household because you’re not modeling homosexual behavior.”
“When you have two men raising a young child, that child grows up learning dysfunction and a sexual perversion as normal. He’s learning a sexual perversion as normality.”
LaBarbera is not a trained sociologist, a child psychologist, or — as far as I know – any other certified or trained professional practitioner of psychiatry, child rearing, or family development, so why in the world anyone would even ask his opinion on the raising of children is a puzzlement.
According to sources, the only “designation” he has earned is a BA in Political Science. You do the math on that one.

To further underline LaBarbera’s less than informed positions, Right Wing Watch notes that LaBarbera “was left speechless when Colmes asked him to spell out his plan to ban homosexuality.”
LaBarbera repeatedly refused to answer Colmes’ question about what he thinks the punishment for homosexual behavior should be, finally admitting: “I don’t know what the punishment should be.”
“So you want these laws on the books but you don’t know what to do about them?” Colmes asked. “You keep talking about criminalizing sodomy and using the country of Jamaica as a model for that but you’re not telling me how you would enforce it and then what the punishment should be. So you don’t have a well-rounded idea of how to approach the idea of criminalizing it.”
In Jamaica, where LaBarbera campaigned for the preservation of the country’s stringent anti-gay laws, homosexuality is punishable up to ten years in jail.
Listen below as Colmes repeated asks how such anti-gay laws would be enforced and what the punishment would be. LaBarbera is so caught up in hating the gays, he hasn’t gotten to how he punish them. I’m guessing he’s of the “arrest first, figure the rest out later” kind of hater:
