Pat Robertson Performs Faith-Healing Live on TV

Pat Robertson performs faith healing live on television

Pat Robertson and sidekick Terry read letters from viewers who felt ‘healed’ by Pat via television faith healing.

They then proceed to ‘heal’ more viewers like someone who might have back pain. Can you imagine there might be someone watching who has back pain?

No doubt someone will be sending in a big check with a letter thanking Pat for the tele-heal.

To be clear, as regular readers of The Randy Report know, I’m not an opponent of folks being spiritual. But this kind of manipulative hokum harms far more people than it will ever help.

Pat Robertson: “One little Jewish radical” is terrorizing the Air Force

The Air Force recently changed it’s policy requiring recruits to include the phrase “so help me God” when joining the service.

Until the change, only the Air Force carried this requirement.  The Marines, Army and Navy all allowed for the phrase to be optional.

You know, since we have that First Amendment that includes freedom concerning religion and all that.

Well, don’t you know Pat Robertson had to go bonkers over what he calls “one little Jewish radical” who didn’t feel he needed to say “so help me God” to join the Air Force?

Text from the clip below:

There is a left-wing radical named Mikey Weinstein who has got a group about ‘people against religion’ or whatever he calls it, and he has just terrorized the Armed Forces. You think you’re supposed to be tough, you’re supposed to defend us, and you’ve got one little Jewish radical who is scaring the pants off of you.

You want these guys flying airplanes to defend us when you’ve got one little guy terrorizing them? That’s what it amounts to. You know, we swear oaths, ‘So help me God,’ what does it mean? It mean’s that with God’s help — You don’t have to say you believe in God, you just have to say you want some help beside myself with the oath I’m taking. It’s just crazy. What is wrong with the Air Force? How can they fly the bombers to defend us if they cave to one little guy?

When notified of Robertson’s temper tantrum on the subject, Weinstein has this to say:

“Pat Robertson is to human dignity and sanity and integrity and character what dog shit is to a fine French restaurant on the menu.”

Pat Robertson: Boy having crushes on boys because he’s being “raised by a woman”

A viewer asks Pat Robertson’s help as her 13 year-old step-son has admitted to developing “crushes on boys.”

Oh, dear! What should she do???

From Right Wing Watch:

Repeating the myth that homosexuality is the result of a lack of parental bonding, Robertson said “his attraction is now toward other men because he’s raised by a woman.”

“I would get him male companions, I’d get him some man to help him, some mentor, someone who cares about young men,” Robertson advised. “He is being raised by a single woman and that is skewing his orientation.”

Pat Robertson: Some prayers aren’t answered because sick people “enjoy their sickness”

Robertson’s reasons why some prayers for healing aren’t answered:

“If you don’t have faith, you don’t get healed.”

“If there’s sin in your life, you don’t get healed.”

Robertson also says if you “don’t do it right” you don’t get healed.

Or – some folks “enjoy their sickness” and that’s why they aren’t healed.

And to think people continue to watch this guy every day on TV.

Pat Robertson says wives should reward husbands with sex for doing chores

Ladies – so this is how it goes down according to Pat Robertson of The 700 Club.

Robertson thinks he has the secret to a loving and exciting marriage: When a husband does the dishes, a wife should reward him with sex. When husbands do chores around the house,  they are fulfilling an innate desire to “provide” for their family.  And so, in exchange for clean dishes, a wife should provide sex.

“With each dish he’s saying I love you, and if you understood that and you say, ‘Darling I got a treat for you … wait ’til we get behind closed doors and you’ll see the treat I have for you.”

Robertson lectures the viewer saying, “Do you want to have a loving, warm, sensuous, exciting marriage or do you want to have a partnership, a business relationship with your spouse?”

Note that when sidekick Terri laughs, he can’t wait to get to the “behind closed doors” part.

Watch the video below.  Just creepy…

Pat Robertson: Donating money to take away someone’s rights isn’t bigotry

Pat Robertson stepped into the debacle revolving around the recent departure of former Mozilla CEO Brendan Eich over a donation to the 2008 Proposition 8 campaign, which successfully (for a time) took away the freedom to marry from gays and lesbians in California.

This was Pat’s (inaccurate) take on the situation:

“Here this man at Mozilla, Eich, had given $1,000 about six or seven years ago — $1,000 — to a proposition,” Robertson explained. “And somebody came around and said, ‘Will you contribute?’ And he said, ‘Here’s a grand, get off my back.’ I mean, that’s probably all that it amounted to.”

“But instead of that, he’s being forced out by gay activists, who said that was hate speech to say that the union between a man and a woman is marriage — that’s hate speech.”

“Well then, the Bible then is full of hate. If that the way it is, then God almighty is a hater. If that’s the way they want to define it. And I, of course, don’t agree.”

To hear Pat tell it, Eich’s donation was a casual kind of thing. Because, you know, donating money to take away folks’ rights is “casual.”

Plus, Pat’s version of events was Eich was “forced” out. In truth, Eich was the CEO – the face of the company – and information was made public about his political views which stood in direct opposition to the mission statement of Mozilla.

Pat Robertson: Jesus would have never baked a wedding cake for a gay couple

According to Pat Robertson, Jesus would have never baked a cake for a gay wedding because the gay couple would have been stoned to death in the beginning anyway. Got it?

As one of the commenters on YouTube put it:

So 2 men together = stone them.
12 men leaving their families to live with a long hair man = Fabulous!!!

Ah, that crazy uncle Pat Robertson…. Just the gift that keeps giving.

It boggles the mind that he’s on TV just about every day.

Pat Robertson says impeach Attorney General Eric Holder

Well, here Pat goes again.

Pat Robertson indicates more than once that Attorney General Eric Holder is encouraging state AG’s to not “uphold” or “abide” by their state’s laws.

What AG Eric Holder said was that state attorney generals are not required to defend laws that are found to be unconstitutional. And all of the attorney generals in question are doing just that. They are enforcing the laws of their states. But some have chosen to not DEFEND laws that they feel are unconstitutional.

There is an intellectual and legal difference.

But then, this IS Pat Robertson.

Pat Robertson on gay sex: “It’s not very pretty”

Discussing the topic of homosexuality (yet again), Pat Robertson told his viewers “when you see what they [gay people] do, it’s not very pretty.” Which does beg the question: why was Pat Robertson watching some gay guys get it on?

He also goes on to say that sex is for procreation; no gay sex or lesbian sex will ever create a child.

I do want Pat Robertson to know that I consider that a personal challenge, and that Michael and I are practicing as much as we can to prove him wrong.

Pat Robertson: Don’t invite lesbians over, they might convert you

Today on The 700 Club, Pat Robertson answered a question from a viewer who was worried about inviting a lesbian friend over to her home, Right Wing Watch reports.

Robertson responded that she is right to be wary because if her kids see a lesbian they might decide to become one.

Says Robertson:

“You keep love, you loved her, you were close and your influence may have something significant to her, the idea is you don’t gain anything by shunning.

“But at the same you don’t want your children to grow up as lesbians, that’s what you’re talking about.  You don’t want to show them that that’s an acceptable lifestyle for your family.

“It doesn’t hurt to tell somebody: I love you, we are going to do what we can to be friends if we can. I have my lifestyle, it’s Christian and you have yours, it’s not; I’m sorry we can’t indulge in certain things together.”
