“I Wish We Were Leaving” is the title track of Bright Light Bright Light’s (aka Rod Thomas) new EP out on April 7 (as well as a track from his forthcoming sophomore record Life Is Easy, due out in July) — and Thomas shares vocal duties with Sir Elton John. The duet happened after Elton John reached out to Rod Thomas to praise BLBL’s debut album, Make Me Believe In Hope. “From then I kept hearing his voice on the track,” Thomas tells The Guardian. “In time I played him ‘I Wish We Were Leaving’ and he added his vocals. Although it wasn’t written as a duet, I love that his voice taking lead in the second verse is a reminder that every relationship has two sides and two voices.”

Out singer/songwriter Steve Grand on CNN
Steve Grand appeared on CNN yesterday in what was his first big-time LIVE interview since the explosion of his “All-American Boy” video (almost 1.6 million views and counting).
I think Steve is just now starting to feel the impact of fame, interviews, the press and how quickly interviews go by. After the CNN interview, Steve posted this on his Facebook page making fun of what he called “nervous speech habits” after watching himself on TV:
ya know guys… I was thinking that…. ya know…. I just… ya know…. really love.. ya know… you all that continue to support me. ya know.. reading your comments always puts the biggest smile on my face. Thanks for…ya know…giving my life and my work a sense of purpose…. ya know #yaknow
I say Steve gets a big pass on worrying about how he did. It’s all a learning curve, and at 23 (!) you get a break when everyone is noticing you all at the same time.
I’m really enjoying seeing ALL THIS unfold for Steve. What a ride!
And btw – in case you missed it, here’s his big, viral video, and here’s where you can buy his song.
Go support, kids!
“All-American Boy” Steve Grand on GOOD MORNING AMERICA
“All-American Boy” singer/songwriter Steve Grand appeared on Good Morning America to chat on the success of his viral music video, his parents sending him to “gay conversion” therapy upon learning he was gay, and their subsequent acceptance of him.
Steve Grand celebrates success of “All-American Boy” video with LIVE performance
Out singer/songwriter and viral video star Steve Grand celebrated the success of his video “All-American Boy” at The Joynt in Chicago this weekend with a live performance of his breakout song.
In the clip, he not only sings “All-American Boy” but he talks about making the music video, the response from all over the internet (almost 500,000 views in less than a week), AND having to beg his best friend’s dad to borrow the cool Pontiac featured in the video.
Plus, with his new found fame, folks have recognized Steve from some modeling gigs he’s done (also under the names Finn Diesel and Steve Chatham).
Here’s hoping for more Steve Grand in the near future.

Todd Michael Schultz – “Told My Story”
Out singer/songwriter Todd Michael Schultz shares his song “Told My Story” with this cute video.
Catchy hook, fun video. I get an honest, authentic and not-so-self-serious vibe.
I definitely like. More please, Mr. Schultz 🙂
Check Todd Michael Schultz out at iTunes.

Music video: “Dust” by Eric Himan
I didn’t get a chance to play this yesterday when Eric Himan visited The Candi & Randy Show, and I LIKE it.

Duncan James tweets shirtless from the gym
Duncan James, of the British boyband Blue, tweeted this pic from the gym:
Mr. James likes to tweet shirtless pics of himself. And to be honest, if I looked like Duncan I’d be tweeting shirtless pics, too.
Blue has a new album, Roulette, set to be released on April 15 and is available for pre-order on iTunes March 28. First single – “Hurt Lovers” – should be out in May.
The band is scheduled to appear on the UK TV show “The Big Reunion” this week, and will be taking part in The Big Reunion Tour this spring.
