One Million Moms vs “How To Get Away With Murder”

One Million Moms (TV watchdog arm of the anti-gay American Family Association) has sent out an email to encourage parents to call Kohls Department Store and complain about their commercials airing during the ABC hit series “How To Get Away With Murder.”

Via Right Wing Watch:

ABC’s creepy program “How To Get Away With Murder” did not end with the finale since it is now airing the season all over again. New episodes will begin on January 29 and in the meantime the network plans to air reruns – unless 1MM can intervene.

This show is about more than murder and violence. There is a whole slew of sins in this series that the network calls entertainment. This program has included assault and murder on several occasions, as well as graphic heteros-xual and homos-xual s-x scenes on a p-rn-graphic level, foul language, mockery of Jesus Christ and Christians, s-x with a minor (statutory r-pe), adultery and marital affairs. (A dash is used to ensure our emails get through to those who have signed up to receive our alerts. Otherwise, referencing specific words would cause our emails to be blocked by some Internet filters.)

This series pushes casual s-x as acceptable, even when with multiple partners or encounters in public places. This wicked show has many dark images including a rotting corpse, dead bodies and other gore. Even though the program airs on Thursday evenings at 10:00 p.m. ET/9:00 p.m. CT, it is not late enough for the violent, twisted plot and s-nsual scenes that are completely soft p-rn. Occasionally, like on this past Thanksgiving Day, it airs earlier at 9:00 p.m. ET/8:00 p.m. CT and then again at its regular time slot.

OMM closes with a call to action to contact Kohls via social media and phone calls to cancel their advertising during HTGAWM.

Considering the series premiere had more than 14 million viewers on live broadcast, and over 20 million with DVR, I’m not sure Kohls will be looking to cut ties with the freshman hit series too quickly.

I should note that when the religious right calls for a boycott, it’s standing up for principle. When the LGBT community boycotts a company, the religious right calls it “homofascist bullying.”

There. Got that straight?

Levi’s comes up with lots of things you can do with your jeans

One Million Moms is up in arms over the newest commercial from Levi Strauss.

Via email:

In the newest “Live in Levi’s” commercial, there are many suggestions of what you can do in your Levi jeans. The ad states consumers can do many things in their Levi’s. For several reasons this Levi commercial is distasteful and sends youth the wrong message. Many have found the “unbutton them” and “button them” segment highly inappropriate. The scene shows a couple making out leading up to a sexual encounter. The female begins unbuttoning the male’s jeans until their young daughter walks in on them and the male quickly buttons back up his jeans.

There are a few other offenses during this commercial including a water drenched man air drying his jeans from a public bus window while wearing his underwear, along with the statement you can “wash them or not.” Then there is a “roll them” reference, with a couple rolling on top of one another while wearing their jeans. Levi Strauss & Co. is being irresponsible in their new advertising campaign, especially since it is aired as early as 6:30 pm when families are likely watching. This advertisement is harming children in the name of humor.

Good lord – it’s a fun commercial. Can we have just a LITTLE fun?

Good job, Levi Strauss.

One Million Moms not having Radio Shack

One Million Moms (in reality, not even close to one million) are not so happy with the new commercials from Radio Shack which feature a dad approaching his teenage son about “the talk.”

Via email:

Radio Shack is offending families with not one but two inappropriate commercials. Both ads use sexual innuendos and include children. Parents find this type of advertising disgusting.

In “Laundry,” a dad enters the room with a laundry basket and says to his son, “Mom just finished laundry. Anything you want to tell us?” The boy has a guilty look on his face and replies, “Sometimes I have these funny feelings and I’m not sure what’s going on, but I looked online and it said it was normal.” The dad has a surprised look on his face and is almost speechless, but says, “Uh, you left your phone in your jeans and it went through the wash.”

In “The Talk,” the dad approaches his son and says, “I think it’s time we had a little talk about ‘protection.’ I know you just want to get out and show it off, but you can’t just go swingin’ it around all willy-nilly, trying to impress the girls. You gotta be careful.” He then displays and refers to a tablet, remarking “this glass is fragile.”

Why would Radio Shack deliberately turn off consumers with sex-laden advertisements?

OMM goes on to urge folks to write Radio Shack about the offending ads” and not buy from Radio Shack.

I think they’re cute. Watch below:

One Million Moms is sad about Honey Maid’s diverse, inclusive ads

One Million Moms (which is really closer to 64,000) weighs in hating on the terrific new campaign by Honey Maid that includes families of all shapes, races and gender.

Nabisco should be ashamed of themselves for their latest Honey Maid and Teddy Graham cracker commercial where they attempt to normalize sin. Right away it shows two men with a baby, followed by other families, and ends with different families pictured including the one with two dads. This commercial not only promotes homosexuality, but then calls the scene in the advertisement wholesome. The ad states, “Everyday wholesome snacks for every wholesome family. This is wholesome.”

One Million Moms stands up for Biblical truth which is very clear in Romans 1:26-27 about this particular type of sexual perversion. Honey Maid is also using the hashtag #thisiswholesome. There is concern about the way this ad is pushing the LGBT agenda, but an even greater concern is the way that they are changing the meaning of the word “wholesome.” This is truly sad. If this is what Honey Maid thinks is wholesome, then my family will no longer purchase Honey Maid or Nabisco products.

I posted the video last week, but here it is again.

Is it awful how happy this family is?  What kind of moms would hate this beautiful family?  I think it’s great.

One Million Moms vs KINKY BOOTS and Macys

Billy Porter (left) and Stark Sands (right) of the hit Broadway musical KINKY BOOTS celebrate their performance on the Macys Thanksgiving Parade by shopping at Macys

American Family Association media watch-dog One Million Moms (which actually only numbers about 60K) issued an e-blast today, voicing their utter disapproval that the Tony Award-winning musical Kinky Boots was included and PERFORMED in the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade, Right Wing Watch reports.

Via email:

As a parent and a member of OneMillionMoms.com, I am greatly disappointed in your company’s choice to include the “Raise You Up” drag performance during your Thanksgiving Day Parade with millions of children present and watching from home. It is inappropriate to highlight cross-dressing in a sexually charged performance during a traditional family activity. Your blatant agenda and in-your-face message was quite offensive, and Macy’s cannot be trusted. Shame on Macy’s for promoting this behavior.

It is clear that Macy’s does not have my children’s best interest in mind. I can no longer trust Macy’s Dept. Store. Your company needs to know that trust must be earned and once trust is lost it is difficult to get back.

Your decision was irresponsible, especially at an event when families are watching together. Nothing about this particular performance was family-friendly. The ENTIRE parade should be kid-friendly; not 95% of it! Your company can do better than this.

Here are just some of the “sexually charged” lyrics that One Million Moms took offense to:

Celebrate you to elevate you!

Instill the truth… learn something new.

Accept yourself and you’ll accept others too.

Let love shine… let pride be your guide.

Change the world when you change your mind.

Just be who you wanna be.

You’re beautiful; it’s beautiful!

I should note that in his introduction of the performance on air, host Matt Lauer pointed out the theme of the show is celebrating the differences in each other. This clearly went over the heads of those folks over at One Million Moms.

Check out the performance below.  Then go support Macys Department store.  Go Macys!

Two “JC Penney” gay dads on local Texas news

The two gay dads – I hate that I feel I need to clarify that, but it seems necessary for those not following this story – Cooper Smith and Todd Koch, who currently are featured in a JC Penney ad for Father’s Day, appeared on local Texas news to discuss the attention they’ve received plus the attacks by the anti-gay One Million Moms.

Anti-gay One Million Moms packs up Facebook page

After the antigay group known as One Million Moms came under assault on Facebook for attacking the idea of a gay comic book character, OMM’s Facebook page went missing.

The New Civil Rights Movement reports that OMM’s page on the social media site disappeared, and a quick Facebook search confirms that news. The group, which has leveled attacks against companies like JCPenney for being pro-gay, recently pounced on DC Comics for introducing Green Lantern as a gay character. After their Facebook post on the issue received numerous pro-gay comments, OMM removed the post.

Apparently, OMM went a step further recently by deleting their entire Facebook page. The New Civil Rights Movement notes that the group sent out a Tweet yesterday that stated they will be offline for most of next week to attend “vacation bible school.”

OMM has nowhere near a million members and is part of the AFA, which is classified as a hate group by the Southern Poverty Law Center.

GAP under attack by One Million Moms for billboard featuring handsome men

One Million Moms – an offshoot group of the conservative American Family Association that actually is only 40,000 – is all mad about a GAP billboard in Los Angeles  featuring a gay couple.

Writes the group:

Speaking of companies who are choosing to be politically correct instead of focusing on selling clothes; GAP is also guilty. In Los Angeles, CA, GAP has a billboard located downtown that reads: “GAP- BE BRIGHT- BE ONE” with two homosexual men pressed together under a shared t-shirt. They are hugging each other and facing the camera cheek-to-cheek. “BE ONE” is in large letters which emphasizes the same-sex relationship.

GAP Inc. Brands, including Old Navy, Banana Republic, Piperlime, and Athleta, does not deserve, nor will it get, money from conservative families across the country. Supporting GAP is not an option until they decide to remain neutral in the culture war. GAP needs to seriously consider how their immoral advertising affect the youth of our nation.

Christians should urge for the removal of GAP’s offensive billboard in Los Angeles and any other city where it is located. GAP will also need to cancel any plans to use the “Be One” ad campaign elsewhere including store-front posters, its website, and in print magazine ads.

“Be one.  Be bright.”  An ad that promotes unity is being criticized.
SRSLY.

Hate Group – One Million Moms – abandons JC Penney/Ellen boycott

Anti-gay hate group One Million Moms (which actually only numbers about 40K) was outraged that JC Penney would affiliate itself with a “high-profile homosexual entertainer” like Ellen DeGeneres, but its attempt to boycott the store has fizzled.

Director Monica Cooley believes “only time will tell,” because the group is now moving on to other issues that require its attention.

The group’s boycott of Toys ‘R’ Us over selling a recent issue of Archie Comics has also failed miserably. The Archie Comics issue they objected to because of its same-sex wedding sold out.
