Human Nature Introduces Nevada Ballet Theater’s 2016 Woman Of The Year – Olivia Newton-John

I had a fab time last night at the 2016 Nevada Ballet Theater’s Black & White Ball which honored international superstar Olivia Newton-John as their 2016 Woman of the Year.

Marie Osmond introduced Olivia for her honor, and longtime-friends Leeza Gibbons and husband Steven Fenton flew into Las Vegas to attend the event.

Osmond, Gibbons and Olivia were joined on the red carpet by fellow Las Vegas Strip headliners Human Nature and the Chippendales who came to celebrate Olivia’s honor.

I managed to get a bit of video as Human Nature opened the evening with their fantastic take on the ONJ hit “Let Me Be There.” The Australian superstars then introduced Olivia, who entered from the back of the ballroom. I love that she breaks into a skip 🙂

Nevada Ballet Theater provided some terrific entertainment with excerpts from George Balanchine’s “Who Cares?” plus performances by their current Future Dance students (a high-spirited Grease tribute) and Future Dance alum Michia Eberhardt.

I can brag a bit on my hot hubby, Michael, who is part of Olivia’s team and helped arrange much of the evening, including two video montages – one spanning Olivia’s career and humanitarian achievements, and the second – a collection of congratulations from long-time friends over the years: John Travolta, Barry Manilow, Julianne Hough, Didi Conn, Vanessa Hudgens, Clinton Kelly, Natalie Morales and Willie Geist of The Today Show and Jane Lynch.

Congrats to Nevada Ballet Theater for producing one of the very best gala events I’ve attended in forever. Absolutely first-class across the board. It’s no wonder everyone describes this as THE high-profile event of the year in Las Vegas.

You can check out Human Nature’s opening of the evening and introduction, plus a few pics I took along the way.

Christmas Music: Olivia Newton-John “Oh Come All Ye Faithful”

One of my absolute favorite live Christmas performances.

My hubby Michael booked Olivia Newton-John on Good Morning America (he’s her publicist) back in 2007 when she released her Christmas Wish holiday album.

Her vocal here is pretty flawless, made even more so by the fact that it’s 8:17am.

Check that last note 🙂

Merry merry, everyone!

Radio Show: Chloe Lattanzi Talks Re-Imagining “Magic” With Mom Olivia Newton-John

Chloe Lattanzi and Olivia Newton-John
Chloe Lattanzi and Olivia Newton-John hit #1 on Billboard Dance chart

A few weeks ago, I was engaged by a big media outlet to interview Olivia Newton-John and her daughter Chloe as their dance hit, “You Have To Believe,” was racing up the Billboard Dance charts. At the time I chatted with Chloe (I record all of my interviews so I can make sure I quote folks correctly), the song was just hitting #19 on it’s way to #1 whereupon Chloe and Olivia became the first mother/daughter team to reach #1 on the Billboard Dance Club chart. Chloe also talks about her upcoming role in the Syfy network film, “Dead 7.” I thought my radio audience might be interested in hearing the actual interview, and so, voila! Chloe is quite charming throughout the chat, and it’s fun to hear the excitement in her voice as the song’s journey was just unfolding. Olivia Newton-John Announces 2016 Extension Of Concert Residency At Flamingo Las Vegas

Near the end of her concert at the Flamingo Las Vegas last night,  pop music icon Olivia Newton-John took a moment to express her gratitude for many things going on in her life; notably her current #1 on the Billboard Dance Club chart with her daughter Chloe Lattanzi, and her extension for a 3rd year at the Flamingo Las Vegas in 2016.

If you haven’t seen Olivia in concert in Las Vegas, you really should make the effort. As a fan of over 30 years, I find she sings even better now than she did in the 70s and 80s. Plus, I can count on one hand the number of music icons who have a #1 on the Billboard Dance charts at the age of 67!

Go!

Olivia Newton-John & Chloe Lattanzi Become 1st Mother/Daughter Team To Top Billboard Dance Chart

Pop music legend Olivia Newton-John and daughter Chloe Lattanzi have become the first mother/daughter team ever to hit number 1 on the Billboard Dance Charts with their reimagined version of the ON-J hit “Magic,” now titled “You Have To Believe.”

Although she has topped many Billboard charts (Top 200, Top 100, Pop, Country, Soundtrack), this is Olivia’s first number one on a Dance chart. Additionally, this is Lattanzi’s freshman appearance on the Billboard charts ever.

Via press release:

“I am so excited that this collaboration with my daughter and Dave Audé has reached #1 on the Dance Club Songs chart,” says Newton-John. “It’s fun to have another number one at this point in my career but, I am even more excited that it’s with my daughter and that we get to share this together!”

Lattanzi, who makes her Billboard chart debut with “You Have to Believe” echoes her mother’s excitement with the success of the song: “Having had the chance to work with my mom was such a great learning experience,” says Lattanzi. “Now add to that being #1 makes it icing on the cake – I’m so proud of being a part of such an amazing team!”

In addition to her chart-topping status with “You Have to Believe,” Chloe has also been in high-demand since the debut of the song’s music video, which also enjoyed success reaching the #2 spot on the “All Music Videos” chart on iTunes in August. After seeing the video, former Backstreet Boy, Nick Carter, immediately created a role for Lattanzi in his upcoming SyFy Channel zombie film, Dead 7, which is scheduled for broadcast in early 2016. Lattanzi is currently in the studio working on the follow up to her latest #1 hit.

The music video for the song created a sensation when released a few months ago, with Lattanzi skipping through the Las Vegas Neon Graveyard before exploring classic club life in a nightclub with celebrity impersonators, all while Olivia sings from a white, lofty haven.

Remix: Olivia Newton-John “Twist Of Fate” (Daybeat 2016)

This really picked me up in the afternoon slump today.

Talented remix artist David Hornos Esteve shares his “Daybeat 2016” version of the ON-J classic “Twist of Fate,” which recently turned 32.  TOF has long been one of my top five ON-J songs.

David was the only dance jockey to remix songs on her Hotel Sessions album.

Talented guy. Enjoy. I like 🙂

32 Years Ago Today In Music: Olivia Newton-John “Twist Of Fate”

Easily one of my top 5 Olivia Newton-John songs of all time.

Via Facebook:

November 5, 1983 – 32 Years Ago Today:

Olivia Newton-John had the Hot Shot Debut at No. 49 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart with her single, “Twist Of Fate.”

This was Newton-John’s 32nd chart entry on the Hot 100 and the leadoff single from the motion picture, “Two Of A Kind” which re-teamed her with John Travolta with whom she co-starred in the box office smash musical, “Grease” 5 years prior.

“Twist Of Fate” became Olivia’s 25th Top 40 and 15th Top Ten when it peaked at No. 5 on January 7, 1984.

My First Writing Gig For ETOnline

Just wanted to share a link to my first writing gig for ETOnline that published today.

I’m kinda jazzed about it. I think cocktail hour comes early today.

I won’t post it here – click over to ETOnline.com to read my interview with music legend Olivia Newton-John & her daughter Chloe Lattanzi who just hit the Top 10 on the Billboard Dance Club chart with their song “You Have To Believe.”

I can only think of one other mother/daughter music act to hit the Top 10 on Billboard and that’s the Judds.

Can anyone else think of another mom/daughter duo on the music charts?

Music: Dave Audé feat. Olivia Newton-John & Chloe Lattanzi “You Have To Believe”

Olivia Newton-John drops her new dance single, “You Have To Believe,” today.

The dance remix was recorded with her daughter Chloe Lattanzi and international dance music producer Dave Aude.

The track is a dance remix version of Olivia’s hit song “Magic” from her 1980 film XANADU, is available at all major music download distributors.

Chloe has co-written new verses with producer Dave Audé and Australian singer/songwriter Vassy, while Olivia sings the iconic song’s familiar, original chorus by John Farrar, “You have to believe we are magic….”

Producer Dave Audé has had over 100 #1s on the Billboard Dance chart, both under his own name and in service of other artists, including U2, Beyoncé, Katy Perry, Rihanna, Lady Gaga, Britney Spears, One Republic, and Coldplay.

The music video for the single – shot on location in Las Vegas where Olivia is selling out her concert residency for the second year at Flamingo Las Vegas – was released last week, and within hours reached #1 on the iTunes Electronic Music Video chart and #2 for ALL music videos on iTunes, where it dominated for a week.

Available on iTunes here.
