How amazing is this? I had the chance to speak with Grammy Award-winner/music legend Judy Collins about her new Christmas CD “Christmas with Judy Collins.” Hit the player below to listen.

Her stunning rendition of Joni Mitchell’s “Both Sides Now” from her landmark 1967 album, Wildflowers, has been entered into the Grammy Hall of Fame. Judy’s dreamy and sweetly intimate version of Stephen Sondheim’s “Send in the Clowns”  won “Song of the Year” at the 1975 Grammy Awards. Add to all that several top-ten hits gold- and platinum-selling albums, plus her books and painting, this is one uber-creative artist.

Music critics have called her voice “liquid silver.” Performing over 100 concerts a year, Judy Collins reflects on her career, the world that inspires her and how she approaches her creative life.

She is a modern day Renaissance woman who is also an accomplished painter, filmmaker, record label head, musical mentor, and an in-demand keynote speaker for mental health and suicide prevention. She continues to create music of hope and healing that lights up the world and speaks to the heart.

Out college football player Alan Gendreau covers Michael Buble’s “Home”

You may remember I reported on former college football player Alan Gendreau, who came out this past summer. Well, it seems he does more than play football.

Alan has recorded a sweet cover of Michael Buble’s hit song “Home.”

The former Middle Tennessee State College kicker is still hoping to try out for the NFL draft, but in the  meantime he should keep with the music.

Macklemore & Lewis denounce racial profiling during acceptance of American Music Award

Last night, Macklemore & Ryan Lewis accepted their American Music Award for Favorite Rap/Hip-Hop Album via satellite feed and the mood took a serious tone, as the duo addressed the topics of racial profiling and specifically Trayvon Martin:

“Thank you to the AMAs. It has been an absolutely incredible year,” Macklemore began. “I feel extremely blessed to be accepting an award at the AMAs. And now that I’m sitting here in front of millions of people, I’d like to address something extremely important to me.

“I was talking to my friend before the show, and he reminded me of a great Martin Luther King quote: ‘Injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere.’ And due to the fact that we are in Florida tonight accepting this award, I want to acknowledge Trayvon Martin and the hundreds and hundreds of kids that are dying each year due to racial profiling and the violence that follows it.

“This is really happening — our friends, our neighbors, our peers, our fans — and it’s time that we look out for the youth and fight against racism and the laws that protect it.”

Music: Mayra Veronica “Mama Mia”

Mayra Veronica

Mayra Verónica first made a name for herself as an international model, posing for the covers of FHM, Shape, Cosmo, and Maxim. Mayra’s sexy covers caught the attention of U.S. soldiers overseas, prompting an invitation to join the USO tour. The troops’ “favorite pin up girl” became so popular, she was named the official spokesmodel for the Bettie Page Clothing line.

With chart-topping dance club hits including “If You Wanna Fly” and “Freak Like Me,” Mayra recently signed with Simon Cowell’s label Syco Music and released the track “Mama Mia,” which is already soaring internationally.

Check out the video below. I love the mashup of vintage and new footage shot in a very retro style. Mayra is bringing 1950s Cuban to the new millennium. Very cool.

Shirtless Backstreet Boys bare some skin in new video “Show ‘Em (What You’re Made Of)”

Backstreet Boys are really showing us some new sides of themselves in the new music video for “Show ‘Em (What You’re Made Of).”

Brian and A.J. strip down giving us some shirtless views in the intimate new video, which also serves up some Nick Carter biceps.

New music: StrikeForce “One Day At A Time”

The brainchild of Steen James, StrikeForce’s debut single “One Day At A Time” features vocals by Yianna Stavrou – featured on Season 1 of Australia’s edition of “The Voice”, and has collaborated on tracks with Fabian Gray alongside her own solo projects.

With StrikeForce set up as a ‘‘think tank of creatives” led by James, future tracks will feature a variety of singers, writers & talent.

“One Day At A Time” originally started life with Australian producer Paul Wiltshire as a contemporary urban ballad, however the positive and uplifting lyrics and melodies offered more versatility & lent itself naturally to a “dance” vibe. In the hands of US based Producer/Remixer/DJ Mark Picchiotti, the song evolved into a feel good sing a long dance/pop anthem fusing elements of EDM & soulful house with gospel-tinged melodies.

The release also includes remixes by Jay-J, Club Junkies, JRMX and Pete Hammond.

Check out the official StrikeForce Facebook page.

World-wide release on November 18, 2013.  Check it out on iTunes.
