New Music: Lance Bass & Anise K – “Walking On Air” feat. Bella Blue

Lance Bass of *NSYNC fame has released his first new music in over a decade with his new song “Walking On Air.”

From Billboard:

“Walking On Air” was written by producer/songwriter/singer Anise K. The song features Bella Blue and Snoop Dogg as well.

“It’s fun, good dance music and that’s what appealed to me,” Bass said. “It had this really cool almost Arabian sound to it with the sitar which I really love and I don’t think it’s used enough here in America, so that was very different to me and knew it would stand out.”

Bruce Springsteen’s new CD – “HIGH HOPES” –  is currently #1 on Amazon and iTunes.

Via press release:

High Hopes, Bruce Springsteen’s 18th studio album, was released on Jan. 14, 2014 on Columbia Records. The album, which was recorded in multiple settings in New Jersey, Los Angeles, Atlanta, Australia and New York City, features Springsteen with members of the E Street Band and guitarist Tom Morello, among others.

“This is music I always felt needed to be released,” writes Springsteen about High Hopes. “From the gangsters of ‘Harry’s Place,’ the ill-prepared roomies on ‘Frankie Fell In Love’ (shades of Steve and I bumming together in our Asbury Park apartment), the travelers in the wasteland of ‘Hunter Of Invisible Game,’ to the soldier and his visiting friend in ‘The Wall,’ I felt they all deserved a home and a hearing.”

Bruce Springsteen was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1999. He has sold more than 65 million albums in the U.S. and 120 million worldwide. Springsteen has won 20 Grammys, an Academy Award, was a recipient of the Kennedy Center Honors in 2009 and performed during halftime at the Super Bowl the same year.

Phil Everly of the Everly Brothers passes away at 74

Phil Everly, of the Everly Brothers, passed away today at the age of 74 due to chronic obstructive pulmonary disease.

The Everly Brothers, Phil and Don, whose tight harmonies were unmistakable and unforgettable, profoundly influenced everyone from the Beatles to the Beach Boys to the Byrds, to Simon and Garfunklel as well as countless other rock, folk and country singers, starting in the late 1950s.

A generation of teens grew up with their high, clarion voices blasting from car radios on Wake Up Little Susie, Bye Bye Love, Cathy’s Clown and All I Have To Do Is Dream.

Christmas song of the day: “Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas” Michael Buble

For Throwback Thursday – Michael Buble’s terrific traditional take on this holiday favorite.

Buble’s Christmas CD is really one of the best – great mix of songs with some sung in a straight-forward/no new-fangled manner, and some swung with some big band sound.

You can check it out on Amazon.

Merry, merry!
