Trump Attacks Mitt ‘Pompous Ass’ Romney For Criticizing ‘Perfect’ Ukraine Call

Sen. Mitt Romney (R-UT), one of the few Senate Republicans to openly question Donald Trump’s motivations for asking foreign governments to dig up dirt on Joe Biden, criticized the Donald on Twitter Friday.

You knew this was coming, didn’t you? The Donald took to the Twitters calling for ROMNEY’s impeachment! How about that???

Incoming freshman US Senator Mitt Romney of Utah penned a scathing op-ed for the Washington Post criticizing Donald Trump up and down.

From the essay:

It is well known that Donald Trump was not my choice for the Republican presidential nomination. After he became the nominee, I hoped his campaign would refrain from resentment and name-calling. It did not. When he won the election, I hoped he would rise to the occasion. His early appointments of Rex Tillerson, Jeff Sessions, Nikki Haley, Gary Cohn, H.R. McMaster, Kelly and Mattis were encouraging. But, on balance, his conduct over the past two years, particularly his actions last month, is evidence that the president has not risen to the mantle of the office.

[sic]

To a great degree, a presidency shapes the public character of the nation. A president should unite us and inspire us to follow “our better angels.” A president should demonstrate the essential qualities of honesty and integrity, and elevate the national discourse with comity and mutual respect. As a nation, we have been blessed with presidents who have called on the greatness of the American spirit. With the nation so divided, resentful and angry, presidential leadership in qualities of character is indispensable. And it is in this province where the incumbent’s shortfall has been most glaring.

Predictably, Trump clapped back wondering aloud if Romney plans to be a ‘Flake,’ meaning now-retired Sen. Jeff Flake of Arizona, who was a sometime-thorn in Trump’s backside.

And by the way, just keeping them honest here, Trump didn’t win “big.” He lost the popular vote, and squeezed a win in the Electoral College by just over 85K votes in 3 states.

Hot Dogs? Hamburgers? Mitt Romney Is Just Like Us

Mitt Romney

In an article that trips over itself to fawn over former Republican presidential candidate and current multi-millionaire Mitt Romney, the Washington Examiner goes to great pains to say that for a man worth millions he is a very “uncomplicated” person.

The article even quotes him about his very humble favorite food.

To wit:

“My favorite meat is hot dog, by the way. That is my favorite meat,” he told a gathering of supporters as they joined him recently for a casual dinner organized by his campaign. “My second favorite meat is hamburger. And, everyone says, oh, don’t you prefer steak? It’s like, I know steaks are great, but I like hot dog best, and I like hamburger next best.”

Romney is currently running to replace Sen. Orrin Hatch (R-Utah) who is retiring.

The Twitterverse was rather amused:

On-Again Off-Again Trump/Romney Bromance Is Back On

Well, what can you say about the on-again, off-again, on-again bromance between Donald Trump and Mitt Romney?

Less than two years ago, Mitt Romney called then-presidential candidate Trump a “fraud” and a “con artist.”

Trump labeled Romney a “choke artist” for his failure to win the 2012 presidential election.

Eventually, Trump won the 2016 election and Romney came crawling back in hopes of becoming Secretary of State.

But it turned out Trump was just punking Romney.

Now, as Romney announces his candidacy for the U.S. Senate seat currently held by retiring Orrin Hatch of Utah, Romney and the Trumpeter are buds once again.

Check out the tweets from last night from these crazy kids.

And just for giggles, let’s take a trip on the way-back machine to March 2016 when Romney felt the need to give a huge speech wherein he called Trump “a fraud.”

Watch below.

Mitt Romney To Announce Run For US Senate Thursday

Mitt Romney

The Associated Press is reporting Mitt Romney will announce his plans to run for the Utah Senate seat currently held by Sen. Orrin Hatch.

Hatch has previously announced he will not seek reelection.

The 70-year-old Romney, once a harsh critic of President Donald Trump, will release an online video Thursday announcing his Senate bid. His first public appearance as a Senate candidate will come Friday night at a county Republican dinner in Provo.

Those with knowledge of his plans spoke on the condition of anonymity because they weren’t authorized to speak publicly.

Despite a drama-filled history with Trump, Romney is not expected to address the combative president directly in the announcement video. Those close to him say he plans a hyper-local focus on Utah issues throughout the Senate campaign.

His announcement video will suggest that Washington has much to learn from Utah.

Romney, a former Massachusetts governor and one of the most famous Mormons, is widely liked and respected in Utah, which is heavily Mormon.

Romney is considered a shoe-in for the Senate seat.

Mitt Romney’s Twitter Profile Updated Within Minutes Of Hatch Retirement Announcement

Some eagle-eyed Twitter folks noticed that within minutes of Sen. Orrin Hatch of Utah announcing his retirement at the end of this year, Utah transplant Mitt Romney changed his Twitter profile ever-so-slightly.

It’s no secret that Romney has been eyeing the Utah Senate seat.

Can you spot the difference?

Utah Sen. Orrin Hatch Announces Retirement Opening The Door For Mitt Romney

Sen. Orrin Hatch

Having held his seat in the U.S. Senate since 1977, Sen. Orrin Hatch of Utah is the longest-serving Senate Republican.

But today, Hatch announced he will retire at the end of the year after four decades in office.

The veteran senator made his announcement via video today. “When the president visited Utah last month, he said I was a fighter. I’ve always been a fighter. I was an amateur boxer in my youth, and I brought that fighting spirit with me to Washington,” he said. “But every good fighter knows when to hang up the gloves. And for me, that time is soon approaching.”

This will come as a blow to Donald Trump who has encouraged the Utah senator and solid Trump-supporter to run for re-election.

The move opens the door for former Massachusetts governor and 2012 Republican presidential nominee Mitt Romney to run for the open seat in solid red Utah. Romney is now a resident of the heavily Mormon state.

Romney has indicated for months he would be interested in running but only if Hatch were to choose to step aside.

You may recall that during the 2016 presidential campaign, Romney repeatedly called Trump “a fraud,” with the Trumpster returning fire saying that Romney had “choked like a dog” in the 2012 election.

Several folks say they are waiting for Romney to be told, as a past presidential candidate like Hillary Clinton, to “take up knitting.”

Tyson Beckford

Some news items you may have missed:

• World famous model and actor Tyson Beckford returns to Chippendales tonight as the iconic male revue’s first “Celeb in Residency” in Las Vegas. And he looks ready 🙂

• Will former GOP presidential candidate Mitt Romney run for Orrin Hatch’s Senate seat next year?

• After denying SCOTUS nominee Judge Merrick Garland any consideration for almost a year, Senate Republicans confirmed Judge Neil Gorsuch to the high court by a vote of 54-45 after utilizing the “nuclear option.”

• Nebraska Supreme Court strikes down longtime ban on gay/lesbian foster parents.

• New Mexico Gov. Susana Martinez has signed legislation that bans the use on minors of so-called “conversion therapy” which purports to change a person’s sexual orientation or gender identity. Currently, six other states have banned ex-gay torture: California, Illinois, Oregon, New Jersey, New York, and Vermont.

• Virulently anti-LGBT Republican Gov. Robert Bentley is asking folks who are shining a spotlight on his alleged adulterous affair with a staffer to “please stop now.” In a press conference he announced that although he’s “struggled” in the past with temptations, he gave himself completely to God last year, so – all good.

Trump Continues ‘Cat And Mouse’ With Mitt Romney Over Secretary Of State

Donald Trump continues his public humiliation of Mitt Romney by having dinner in public with the Secretary of State wannabe.

Romney looks like he’s having a great time, huh?

Via NPR:

After leaving the dinner at the Jean-Georges restaurant at the Trump International Hotel in New York City, Romney told reporters they had a “wonderful evening” and that he’s been impressed with Trump’s transition so far and many of his Cabinet picks.

“We had another discussion about affairs throughout the world, and these discussions I’ve had with him have been enlightening, and interesting, and engaging,” Romney said.

“He won the general election and he continues with a message of inclusion and bringing people together and his vision is something which obviously connected with the American people in a very powerful way,” he continued.

I will be mightily surprised if Trump actually picks Mitt Romney for Secretary of State after Mitt was one of Trump’s fiercest critics during the campaign season calling Trump a “fraud” and a “con man.”

Notice – by turning the pic of Trump and Mitt black and white, the image looks like something from an old Twilight Zone episode where someone just sold their soul to the devil.

Kellyanne Conway: Mitt Romney Was “Nothing More Than Awful” To Donald Trump

Kellyanne Conway says she’s not campaigning “against” Mitt Romney, but based on this clip from NBC’s Meet The Press, I’m gonna put her down in the “no on Mitt” column.
