Mike Huckabee Wishes He Could Have Pretended To Be Transgender To Shower With High School Girls

Former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee made a rather odd comment earlier this year at the 2015 National Religious Broadcasters Convention in Nashville, Tennessee, regarding transgender folks by saying he wished he could have pretended to be transgender in high school “when it came time to take showers in PE.”

“For those who do not think that we are under threat, simply recognize that the fact that we are now in city after city watching ordinances say that your seven-year-old daughter, if she goes into the restroom cannot be offended and you can’t be offended if she’s greeted there by a 42-year-old man who feels more like a woman than he does a man.”

Huckabee continued saying saying he wished someone told him in high school he “could have felt like a woman” and shower with the girls.

“Now I wish that someone told me that when I was in high school that I could have felt like a woman when it came time to take showers in PE,” said Huckabee. “I’m pretty sure that I would have found my feminine side and said, ‘Coach, I think I’d rather shower with the girls today.’ You’re laughing because it sounds so ridiculous doesn’t it?”

Mike Huckabee Stands By Josh Duggar

Mike Huckabee (L) with 19 Kids and Counting star Josh Duggar

Mike Huckabee, currently seeking the 2016 GOP nomination for president, has issued a statement of support for reality TV celeb Josh Duggar.

From Mike Huckabee’s Facebook page:

Janet and I want to affirm our support for the Duggar family. Josh’s actions when he was an underage teen are as he described them himself, ‘inexcusable,’ but that doesn’t mean ‘unforgivable.’

He and his family dealt with it and were honest and open about it with the victims and the authorities.

No purpose whatsoever is served by those who are now trying to discredit Josh or his family by sensationalizing the story. Good people make mistakes and do regrettable and even disgusting things.

There’s more on the Huckster’s FB page, but you get the picture.

Interesting that the Huckabees and Duggars of the world feel it’s perfectly ok to attack gays and lesbians from a position of moral superiority, but child molesters get to pray and it should all go away?

Mike Huckabee: Supreme Court “Cannot Overrule God”

Mike Huckabee, addressing the National Hispanic Christian Leadership Conference:

“I respect the courts, but the Supreme Court is only that — the supreme of the courts. It is not the supreme being. It cannot overrule God.

“When it comes to prayer, when it comes to life, and when it comes to the sanctity of marriage, the court cannot change what God has created.

“Somebody’s got to be willing to take on the institutions that challenge and threaten our ability to believe as we believe, because when religious liberty is lost, all liberty is lost.

“I do not come to you tonight with the ability to speak Spanish. But I do speak a common language: I speak Jesus.”

As I always do, it’s important to note that marriage equality does not “threaten” Mike Huckabee’s world. It merely allows for the inclusion of gays and lesbians in the institution of marriage.

My marriage to hubby Michael does not “challenge” Mike Huckabee’s “ability to believe.”

Mike Huckabee: Gay Rights Will Outlaw Christianity

Speaking on a conference call for the Family Research Council, possible 2016 GOP hopeful Mike Huckbee hypers up the hate rhetoric against gay marriage:

“If the courts rule that people have a civil right not only to be a homosexual but a civil right to have a homosexual marriage, then a homosexual couple coming to a pastor who believes in biblical marriage who says ‘I can’t perform that wedding’ will now be breaking the law.

“It’s not just saying, ‘I’m sorry you have a preference.’ No, you will be breaking the law subject to civil for sure and possible criminal penalties for violating the law.

“If you do practice biblical convictions and you carry them out and you do what you’ve been led by the spirit of God to do, your behavior will be criminal. God help us all.”

Mike Huckabee: President Obama Calling Michael Sam Shows American Culture In “Utter Collapse”

Former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee, speaking at the Family Leadership Regional Summit last week in Iowa, said that President Obama calling NFL hopeful Michael Sam last year when he came out a sign that the culture of America is in ‘utter collapse.’

‘The values that so many of us hold dear are values that are under assault today,” he said in a speech. ‘I never believed that in such a short period of time, the culture in America would go into utter collapse.

‘If you told me just a few years ago that one day the President of the United States would use his precious time in the Oval Office to call people up simply to congratulate them for being gay, I would say, “No, surely he’ll call a veteran and thank them for their service, for losing a limb or a leg.” But even when (US Navy SEAL sniper) Chris Kyle was murdered, his widow didn’t get a phone call, but a gay football player who came out did.’

I’m not sure how Huckabee can claim to know everyone that President Obama does or does not call.

In addition to congratulating Michael Sam, Obama publicly congratulated NBA player Jason Collins when he came out and recently singled out gay soccer pro Robbie Rogers when he visited The White House with his team Los Angeles Galaxy.

Huckabee, a failed candidate for the Republican nomination for president in 2008, is weighing a second run for the GOP nod in 2016.

Mike Huckabee: Gays “Won’t Stop Until There Are No More Churches”

Mike Huckabee appeared on anti-gay Tony Perkins “Washington Watch” radio show yesterday wherein he described a bizarro world things mean “the opposite of what they are.”

“It is a classic example of — really a page out of ‘1984,’ when what things mean are the opposite of what they really are. And that’s what I’m seeing here is that in the name of tolerance, there’s intolerance. In the name of diversity, there’s uniformity. In the name of acceptance, there’s true discrimination.”

Kinda like conservatives in Indiana and Arkansas repeating over and over that their “religious freedom” laws had NOTHING to do with the gays.

At the end of the clip Huckabee threatens that the gays “won’t stop until there are no more churches.”

Seriously? And the LGBT community is the one inciting riot?

Folks like Huckabee and Perkins use the same tactic over and over again. Repeat, repeat, repeat, and hope uninformed people pick up the hateful chant.

Mike Huckabee Compares Being Gay To “Lifestyle Choices” Like Drinking, Swearing

2016 political hopeful Mike Huckabee, appearing on CNN’s State Of The Union, compared homosexuality to drinking, swearing and other “lifestyle” choices.

From the interview with Dana Bash:

“People can be my friends who have lifestyles that are not necessarily my lifestyle. I don’t shut people out of my circle or out of my life because they have a different point of view. I hope the party doesn’t change its overall view, but the very fact that I talk about relationships I have with friends who are gay, indicate that I’m not a person who shuts everybody out around me who disagrees.”

“I don’t drink alcohol, but gosh — a lot of my friends, maybe most of them, do. You know, I don’t use profanity, but believe me, I’ve got a lot of friends who do. Some people really like classical music and ballet and opera — it’s not my cup of tea.”

“I’d like to think that there’s room in America for people who have different points of view without screaming and shouting and wanting to shut their businesses down. What worries me in this new environment we’re in, it’s not just that someone might disagree, they don’t want to argue with me, even take a different point of view. They want to close someone’s business down.”
