WorldPride 2025 Concert At Kennedy Center Cancelled

The Gay Men’s Chorus of Washington DC was scheduled to perform a concert with the National Symphony Orchestra on May 21 as part of this year’s WorldPride 2025 program of events at the Kennedy Center. World Pride, held every two years, aims to bring together a program of events to “celebrate, educate, support and inspire.” The concert was to have been the orchestral premiere of John Bucchino’s choral work A Peacock Among Pigeons, a piece about embracing one’s uniqueness. But the event has now been removed from the Kennedy Center schedule. No doubt due to Donald Trump’s takeover of KC last week. Continue reading “WorldPride 2025 Concert At Kennedy Center Cancelled”

Tonight: Vanessa Williams & Renee Fleming Live From The Kennedy Center

L-R Renee Fleming, Vanessa Williams
On Saturday at 8 p.m. ET, two Tony nominated divas — opera legend Renée Fleming and pop star Vanessa Williams — team up for a live concert from the Kennedy Center’s storied Opera House. It’s the first in-person event at the D.C. institution since March, and only a smattering of invited folks will be sitting in the seats. But you can watch from home as these vocalists croon an eclectic selection of tunes, including “Children Will Listen,” “Stormy Weather” and a brand-new number by Andrew Lippa.

Isolation and harmony, fragility and resilience, oppression and hope.

These are the emotions of our time, and the subjects explored in A Time to Sing — a very personal collection of songs to be performed by two of America’s most celebrated vocalists in a unique event at the Kennedy Center.

This is a rare opportunity to view these artists and experience the healing power of the performing arts.

Tickets are just $15 and a recording will remain available through the end of the year. To purchase your ticket, click here.
