Sony Pictures Will Release THE INTERVIEW On Christmas Day

According to NPR, theaters that are willing to screen the film will do so on Christmas Day.

In a statement, Michael Lynton, Sony’s chairman and CEO, said: “We have never given up on releasing The Interview and we’re excited our movie will be in a number of theaters on Christmas Day.”

He said the studio will continue its efforts to secure more platforms and more theaters to show the film. Variety reported that Sony could offer the film via video on demand.

Sony Cancels Christmas Day Release Of Seth Rogen/James Franco Film “The Interview” Due To Terrorist Threat

After the five largest movie theater chains decided to NOT show the upcoming Seth Rogen/James Franco film The Interview, Sony Pictures has now decided to not release the film.

No release of the film could result in tens of millions in losses for Sony.

From Sony Pictures:

In light of the decision by the majority of our exhibitors not to show the film The Interview, we have decided not to move forward with the planned December 25 theatrical release. We respect and understand our partners’ decision and, of course, completely share their paramount interest in the safety of employees and theater-goers.

Sony Pictures has been the victim of an unprecedented criminal assault against our employees, our customers, and our business. Those who attacked us stole our intellectual property, private emails, and sensitive and proprietary material, and sought to destroy our spirit and our morale – all apparently to thwart the release of a movie they did not like.

We are deeply saddened at this brazen effort to suppress the distribution of a movie, and in the process do damage to our company, our employees, and the American public. We stand by our filmmakers and their right to free expression and are extremely disappointed by this outcome.

There are rumors of a possible On Demand release at some point in the future, but nothing has been announced.

The decision comes after a cyber hack against Sony Pictures which threatened the theaters that showed the film. A note made public on Tuesday read, “We will clearly show it to you at the very time and places ‘The Interview’ be shown, including the premiere, how bitter fate those who seek fun in terror should be doomed to.”

Zac Efron Chats Masturbation With James Franco In Parody Interview

In a spoof “interview” Zac Efron sits down with James Franco in character as “Dave Skylark,” the talk show host who Franco plays in The Interview, his new comedy co-starring Seth Rogen.

The subject? Masturbation. Something Efron admits to doing at least 17 times a day.

Or, rather, 17 times today SO FAR.

The seriousness that Franco and Efron commit to the bit is pretty hilarious. Efron even admits to being able to masturbate while driving.

“I can drive with my hands and masturbate with my knees,” he says.

Franco: Do you think you have a problem?

Efron: Do I have a problem? The Middle East has problems. I have a solution.

Finally saw some footage of the upcoming episode of Discovery Channel’s Naked and Afraid featuring James Franco and pal Seth Rogen, airing on December 7. Their bit starts about the 1:15 mark below.

“You’re supposed to be a hot Australian-like survivalist!” James tells Seth.

“I was hoping to be teamed up with a woman, but I guess Franco‘s the next best thing,” Seth says.

BFFs James Franco and Seth Rogen have taken their bromance to an all new level. The co-stars to the upcoming movie, The Interview, took it all off for a dude romp on Franco’s Instagram giving new meaning to “out and proud.”

In one pic Franco posed the query: “See if me and seth can make it, NAKED and AFRAID!!!! Wtf?! You’ll see……..”.

I love the wild and free sense of humor but you have to wonder, “Who was holding the camera?”

James Franco on nude selfies: “It’s what the people want”

David Letterman addressed James Franco’s propensity for posting provocative pics on his Instagram account.

James Franco’s answer? “To me it’s just a fun thing, it’s something I don’t put a ton of thought into, but it gets a lot of attention,” he said.

“It’s not like I’m putting that on billboards. Ostensibly Instagram is for my fans. But now all the bloggers are on there so they’ll just take it and use whatever they want.”

Attending the world premiere of “Homefront” at Planet Hollywood

Last night I tagged along with Michael as he escorted Jaymes Vaughan and James Davis (of Chippendales and the Amazing Race) to the world premiere of the new film “Homefront” starring Jason Statham, James Franco, Winona Ryder and Kate Bosworth, written by Sylvester Stallone.

I’ve attended only a couple of premieres before, and this was a TERRIFIC first class event. All four of the movies’ stars attended the premiere, and the crowd was electric seeing their favorites.  Planet Hollywood knows how to handle a premiere!

There was a VIP cocktail event (food, wine, what’s not to like?) which served as a “holding area” for the celebs attending before they headed down an escalator to walk through a sea of fans to the red carpet.

As we entered the theater, we grabbed some wine and popcorn made available to the guests and settled in for the adventure. The audience had a great time taking the ride of “Homefront” and so did I.  A premiere audience is always so good.  They WANT to have a good time.  And we did!

James Franco: “I wish I was gay”

In a new interview in The Daily Beast, James Franco says based on his career and choice of roles, it’s not surprising that many people think he’s gay. And he’s good with that:

Daily Beast: With the gay jokes, it seems like when an actor plays a gay character convincingly onscreen, whether it’s you in Milk or whomever, gay rumors seem to sprout up about that actor. And, of course, there were a lot of gay jokes directed at you during the Roast, as well as in This Is the End.

Franco: There’s two sides to what happened in the Roast. If that’s what they were going to make fun of me for, I was like, “Great! Bring on the gay jokes!” because these aren’t insults at all. I don’t even care if people think I’m gay, so it was like, “Awesome!” I mean, I wish I was…I wish I was gay.

Daily Beast: Why?

Franco: I mean… we don’t have to go into it. But as far as that larger phenomenon that you’re talking about that happens to other actors, part of it is that movies are a place where people can project things and identify with characters, and it’s the same thing with actors outside of their roles—and it’s been that way since Hollywood was around. That’s why there’s a lot of conjecture. That’s been one of my things, too. My relationship with my public image over the past four or five years has just become weirder and weirder, because I look at it and it’s me, and it’s not me, so if other people want to use that for their own purposes or needs, I’m fine with it.

Franco is currently at the Toronto International Film Festival to unveil his latest directorial effort, an adaptation of the Cormac McCarthy novel Child of God.
