Number 1 at the box office “Oz the Great and Powerful”

The new James Franco film – “Oz the Great and Powerful” – leapt over the rainbow to take in $80.3 million and capture the No. 1 slot in weekend ticket sales.

I spent the weekend recovering from travel, but plan to see the film this week.

Who saw it? Thoughts? Yay? Nay?

James Franco’s “Interior. Leather Bar.” opens at Sundance

From the YouTube description: The 1980 film Cruising, starring Al Pacino as an undercover cop investigating a murder in the New York City gay, leather, bar scene, was plagued with controversy, and its director was forced by the Motion Picture Association of America to cut 40 minutes of sexually explicit material. Those 40 minutes have never been screened publicly.

Filmmakers James Franco and Travis Mathews set out to reimagine what might have transpired in those lost scenes in this intriguing film about the making of a film.

Opens at Sundance Film Festival this weekend.

Franco is also debuting a new documentary this weekend at Sundance – “Kink” – for which he is the Executive Producer.

James Franco GREASE tribute footage in REM’s new video

Two years ago some footage was leaked of a possible GREASE sequence with James Franco and Anne Hathaway during their unfortunate Academy Awards hosting gig. It looks like it’s now turned up in a new video for R.E.M.’s song “That Someone Is You’ – with Franco as Danny Zuko and perhaps Anne Hathaway (with a big kitty head) as Sandy.

Not sure what the symbolism is with the cat head. What do you guys think?
