Republican Rep. Kevin McCarthy Admits Benghazi Investigations Meant To Damage Hillary Clinton’s Campaign
They say in Washington, D.C. politics that a “gaffe” is when someone accidentally tells the truth.
The presumed new Speaker of the House, Rep. Kevin McCarthy, did just that when speaking to Fox News’ Sean Hannity last night when he let the cat out of the bag and admitted that the past year’s Republican led witch hunt regarding the many Benghazi investigations were conducted with the intent of bringing down Democratic front-runner Hillary Clinton’s presidential campaign.
Speaking about his presumed role as the incoming Speaker of the House, here’s McCarthy’s admission:
What you’re going to see is a conservative speaker, that takes a conservative Congress, that puts a strategy to fight and win. And let me give you one example. Everybody thought Hillary Clinton was unbeatable, right?
But we put together a Benghazi special committee. A select committee. What are her numbers today? Her numbers are dropping. Why? Because she’s untrustable. But no one would have known that any of that had happened had we not fought to make that happen.

Hillary Clinton On The Specifics Of Foreign Policy In Middle East
Former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton does a deep dive into foreign policy with Chuck Todd on the inaugural episode of MTP Daily.
Note the calm grasp of very complex issues here. This is someone who knows what she’s talking about.
In an interview on MSNBC’s MTP Daily, Clinton said fighting ISIS would be “very difficult” with Assad still in place and she would “prioritize both” because “you can’t really do one without the other.” She added that “ousting Assad has to be a political process.”
“I think that we’re going to have to, as they say, walk and chew gum at the same time. And that will be to, you know, do the best we can with our friends in the region to go after ISIS and try to, you know, push them out of Iraq and then try to, you know, deal with them and the territory they control in Syria,” Clinton said.
Clinton has advocated for more American involvement in arming the moderate Syrian rebels to fight both Assad and ISIS–in contrast with the Obama administration. Asked if reports that only a handful of rebels trained by the U.S. remain engaged in the fight represents a “failure in policy,” Clinton replied, “well, it is.”
“I can’t sit here and tell you that if we had done what I and General Petraeus and Secretary Panetta and others had recommended, we would have made more progress on the ground. I obviously thought so at the time,” Clinton added.
“If we had been able to move in, to help organize and support those people on the ground, maybe we could’ve made a difference. Well, we’ve got to deal with where we are right now. It’s obviously now a different set of circumstances. And what the Pentagon has been doing hasn’t worked.”
On the fight against ISIS, Clinton said, “I think part of the challenge that President Obama’s been facing is to build up the Iraqi forces again after Maliki decimated them. And to get them in a fighting position and to get the Kurds, particularly the Peshmerga able to be fully equipped then to try to go after ISIS in Iraq and Ramadi and Mosul, pushing them out if possible.”
Can you even imagine Donald Trump having this level of discussion about foreign affairs?
“Chuck, we’d be yuuuuuuuge in the middle East. Yuuuuuuge. They’re a bunch of losers.”
Hillary Clinton: I’m Thrilled Marriage Equality Is The Law Of The Land
Democratic front runner Hillary Clinton, speaking to Chuck Todd on NBC News’’ “MEET THE PRESS” addressed her evolution on marriage equality:
“On same-sex marriage, like a lot of people, including our president, I did evolve. And I was not raised to even imagine this.
And I’m thrilled now that it is the law of the land. And I have a lot of good friends who are now able to be married because of the changes we’ve made legally and constitutionally.”
Hillary Clinton Set To Address Human Rights Campaign At Fall Board Meeting
Democratic front-runner Hillary Clinton will address the staff, board and volunteer leaders of the Human Rights Campaign, the nation’s largest LGBT advocacy organization, on October 3rd.
From Buzzfeed:
Calling Clinton a “visionary leader,” HRC President Chad Griffin said in a statement announcing the address that the former secretary of state “is a tremendous advocate for equality and has been a tireless champion for the advancement of LGBT rights as human rights around the globe.”
Griffin said that Clinton will be joining the group at its fall board meeting “to discuss the challenges ahead in the fight for full federal equality” for LGBT people. Clinton’s address will come the morning of its national dinner.
The group is yet to endorse a presidential candidate.
Griffin has a long association with the Clinton’s having begun his political career working on the 1992 presidential campaign of Bill Clinton.
Hillary Clinton Opposes Keystone XL Pipeline
Democratic presidential front-runner Hillary Clinton has announced she opposes the long-debated Keystone XL pipeline.
From NBC News:
“I think it is imperative that we look at the Keystone XL pipeline as what I believe it is: A distraction from the important work we have to do to combat climate change, and, unfortunately from my perspective, one that interferes with our ability to move forward and deal with other issues,” she said during a campaign event in Iowa Tuesday.
“Therefore, I oppose it. I oppose it because I don’t think it’s in the best interest of what we need to do to combat climate change.”
Last week, while in New Hampshire, Clinton promised that her opinion would be forthcoming soon, saying her delay was out of respect for the current administration. “I have been waiting for the administration to make a decision. I thought I owed them that.”
Fellow Democratic contender Sen. Bernie Sanders also opposes construction of the pipeline.
For what it’s worth, so do I.
The pipeline would carry Canadian oil across the U.S. to refineries which oil companies would then be free to sell to any country in the world.
Supporters have erroneously claimed that the oil would specifically benefit the U.S. and help lead to energy independence. But there are no guarantees that would keep the oil in America.
Also, there’s the issue of estimated 17% higher greenhouse gas emissions from the extraction of oil sands compared to extraction of conventional oil.
In addition, the project doesn’t create a large number of permanent jobs. Studies show that once built, the pipeline would only require about 45 permanent employees.
I’d personally rather the effort focused on more renewable energy sources.

From CNN:
Clinton is backed by 42% of Democratic primary voters nationally, compared to 24% for Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders, 22% for Biden and 1% for former Maryland Gov. Martin O’Malley.
That’s a marked improvement over an early September CNN/ORC poll that found Clinton leading Sanders, 37% to 27%, with Biden at 20%.
And Biden’s support comes almost entirely from Clinton’s camp. Without the vice president in the race, Clinton’s numbers climb by 15 percentage points, while Sanders’ increase by only 4 points — giving Clinton a nearly 2-to-1 lead at 57% to 28%, with O’Malley moving up to 2%.

Democratic front runner Hillary Clinton made her first late night talk show appearance on The Tonight Show last night, and showed good form doing a “pre-show interview” with Jimmy Fallon’s “Fake Donald Trump.

Hillary Clinton stopped by NBC’s “Tonight Show” on Wednesday where she was interviewed by Jimmy Fallon twice — once as Donald Trump, and once as himself.
In what has become a trademark, Fallon donned the Donald’s signature hairdo and “called” Clinton at home to discuss women, immigration and Bernie Sanders.
Fake Trump opened with, “I haven’t seen you since my last wedding.” Clinton fired back, “Well, I’m sure I’ll see you at the next one.”
When Clinton asked “Trump” what his stance is on women’s issues, Fallon quipped, “I know a lot of women and they all have issues.”
Hillary added a light-hearted touch during her ‘actual’ segment with Fallon when asked what she thought of Donald Trump’s campaign: “I’m having a good time watching it.”
