Pew Poll: Hillary Clinton Holds 9+ Lead Over Donald Trump

Pew Research shares the latest nationwide results in the 2016 presidential campaign:

The new national survey by Pew Research Center was conducted June 15-26 among 2,245 adults, including 1,655 registered voters.

In a two-way contest, 51% of registered voters support Clinton or lean toward her, while 42% support or lean toward Trump.

In a three-way contest, including Libertarian Party nominee Gary Johnson, 45% favor Clinton, 36% support Trump and 11% back Johnson.

A majority of registered voters (56%) say the phrase “personally qualified to be president” better describes Clinton than Trump; just 30% say the phrase better describes Trump.

Far more voters also say the phrase “would use good judgment in a crisis” better describes Clinton (53%) than Trump (36%).

It’s interesting to note that in 2012, the June Pew Poll showed President Obama up over Mitt Romney 50% to 46%, and Obama went on to win by the same margin – 4 points.

In June of 2008, Obama led Sen. John McCain by 8 points, 48% – 40%, and Obama won by a similar spread – 7 points.

I’ll  be curious to see if this predictive ability holds up this November.

Bernie Sanders Expected To Formally Endorse Hillary Clinton Next Week

The Huffington Post is reporting that Sen. Bernie Sanders is widely expected to formally endorse presumptive Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton at a campaign rally to be held in New Hampshire next Tuesday.

The endorsement could help allay concerns of party unity among Democrats ahead of the nominating convention to be held later this month in Philadelphia.

In an interview with Bloomberg, Sanders sounded resolute in his support for Clinton saying, “We have got to do everything that we can to defeat Donald Trump and elect Hillary Clinton. I don’t honestly know how we would survive four years of a Donald Trump [as president].”

Hillary Clinton Proposes Tuition-Free College For Households Making Less Than $125K

Presumptive Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton has announced she supports waiving tuition at four year public colleges for students whose families make less than $125,000.

The Clinton campaign announced the shift in higher education policy is a result of private meetings with Sen. Bernie Sanders.

For months Clinton has promoted the idea of free community college plus “debt-free” policies which would help students shake off thousands in student loans. During the Democratic primary, she disagreed with the idea of free college for everyone saying, “I don’t think taxpayers should be paying to send Donald Trump’s kids to college.”

The announced policy would be phased in over five years starting with an initial threshold of $85,000 in household income, and expanding to those making less than $125,000 by 2021.

U.S. Attorney General Accepts “Unanimous Recommendation” Of No Charges For Hillary Clinton

“Late this afternoon, I met with FBI Director James Comey and career prosecutors and agents who conducted the investigation of Secretary Hillary Clinton’s use of a personal email system during her time as Secretary of State. I received and accepted their unanimous recommendation that the thorough, year-long investigation be closed and that no charges be brought against any individuals within the scope of the investigation.”

House Republicans Ask FBI Director To Defend Decision To Not Charge Hillary Clinton

Because the House Republicans haven’t wasted enough time and money chasing empty dreams of bringing Hillary Clinton down.

In the wake of the FBI’s recommendation to not charge former Secretary of State over her use of a private email server, Rep, Jason Chaffetz, current chair of the House Oversight Committee, has summoned FBI Director James Comey to the hill to testify (read that – “defend”) the decision.

Less than a day after the FBI’s announcement, Chaffetz has set a hearing for Thursday at 10 a.m. ET, where Comey will testify before the committee regarding the Bureau’s investigation.

Speaker of the House Paul Ryan foreshadowed such an event Tuesday night when speaking to Fox News saying, “There are a lot of unanswered questions here.”

Clearly, the Republicans are disappointed in the loss of attack fodder for the next four months of the presidential election, and are choosing to draw the issue out in the headlines as long as possible.

It’s worth noting that James Comey is a long-time Republican with no political allegiance to Hillary Clinton. So, the idea that Hillary somehow curried private favor with the FBI Director is nonsense.

Hillary Clinton Campaign Responds To FBI Announcement On Email Investigation

"We are pleased that the career officials handling this case have determined that no further action by the department is appropriate. As the Secretary has long said, it was a mistake to use her personal email and she would not do it again. We are glad that this matter is now resolved."

Hillary Clinton’s campaign spokesman Brian Fallon issued this statement in response to the announcement today by FBI Director James Comey that he would not recommend any charges against the former secretary of state in the investigation into her use of a private email server during her time as Secretary of State.

“We are pleased that the career officials handling this case have determined that no further action by the Department is appropriate,” Clinton spokesman Brian Fallon said in a statement. “As the Secretary has long said, it was a mistake to use her personal email and she would not do it again. We are glad that this matter is now resolved.”

FBI Announces “No Charges Are Appropriate” In Clinton Email Investigation

The F.B.I. director, James B. Comey, on Tuesday said the F.B.I. is recommending no charges against Hillary Clinton for her use of a personal email server while secretary of state.

Mr. Comey said “no reasonable prosecutor” would bring a case against Mrs. Clinton for her handling of classified information on her private server. But he said Mrs. Clinton and her staff were “extremely careless” in their use of email.

The F.B.I.’s recommendation to the Justice Department will have an enormous impact on the presidential election.

Attorney General Loretta Lynch said on Friday that she would accept whatever recommendation she received from the F.B.I.

The statement by Mr. Comey concluded an investigation that began a year ago when the inspector general for the intelligence agencies told the Justice Department that he had found classified information among a small sampling of emails Mrs. Clinton had sent and received.

The inspector general, I. Charles McCullough III, said the emails contained information that was classified at the time they were sent but were not marked classified, and the information should never have been sent on an unclassified system.

“No intentional misconduct.”

For months it has been obvious: if Hillary was charged over her use of a private email server her haters would point and say how surprised that the FBI did a great job.

If she was not, they would still scream that she is guilty and that the system was rigged in her favor.

In regard to those that hate her, there was never going to be a way for her to “win.”
